Staff Anniversary RecognitionThis week we celebrate and give thanks to God for the twenty years of ministry we have shared with Angela Seanor. Angela joined the staff in September of 1994 as our Childcare Coordinator. Her dedication to providing the best for our children is evident as she coordinates the number of paid workers needed per class, watches the church calendar closely to determine when childcare is necessary, interviews and trains staff, and still finds the time to encourage parents and workers. Her gentle spirit and servant heart is evident to workers, parents,

and children. When you see Angela in the hallway this week, share your words of encouragement and appreciation with her. Thank you Angela for loving our children!

30th Anniversary Concert

“A Children’s Concert”Sunday, October 19 | 4:00 PM

Sunday is Gideon Sunday at First Baptist Church. In each morning service Dr. Horace Carson, State VP, AL/NW FLA Gideon Association, North Region, will share a presentation and we will receive an offering to support the ministry of the Gideons. This ministry places Bibles all around the world so that millions of people can learn the good news of God’s love.

Please pray for our Student Fall Retreat this weekend. As of Tuesday morning, 109 students were signed up to be a part of this great weekend. Matt Hester, who was our Student Ministry Summer Intern several years ago, will

be the retreat speaker.

Our deacons met this week for their monthly meeting and elected officers for the coming year. Rodger Keene was elected as Deacon Chair and Dow Canup as Deacon Vice-Chair. I know you join me in expressing appreciation to this past year’s Deacon Chair, Pam Jones, who served us in a magnificent way this past year along with John Gordon as Deacon Vice-Chair. Their leadership was significant. They, along with ten other deacons, rotate off at the end of September.

Wednesday night, September 17, the FY15 Vision for Ministry Budget will be presented and discussed. This proposed budget covers our fiscal year which will begin in October and end September 2015. The proposed budget of $4,200,000 represents a $100,000 increase over this year’s budget. This increase allows for increased ministry efforts only made possible by your continued faithful giving. The FY15 Budget will be presented for vote without discussion at the end of each worship service on Sunday, September 28. The recommendation being presented comes with endorsements from the Finance Committee, Leadership Council, and Deacons.

You will read elsewhere in this newsletter that our Vision Team has been formed and elected by the church. We had our first meeting last week to elect officers. The Vision Team, Pastor Search Committee, and Ministerial Staff look forward to our Strategic Visioning Orientation with Bill Wilson from Center for Healthy Churches on Saturday, September 27. You will hear more from this meeting in the coming days!

Please continue to lift our Pastor Search Committee, Interim Pulpit Committee, Vision Team, and Ministerial Staff in your prayers during these especially important days in our church. Your faithful presence, giving, and prayers are important.See you Sunday for Worship and Bible Study!
