President’s MessagePresident’s MessagePresident’s MessagePresident’s Message
Hi to all. This has been an interesting Spring, but we've still managed to get a few good tours down the road and now that we have had the chance to work the bugs and Gremlins out of the Model A's, we're ready for more. Our next BIG ONE is the
upcoming Benson Ford Show. Though Don Graves will be headed for Breckenridge that day, lets show a force of support to our Club and Ed Jankowski. The weather is supposed to cooperate!!!!! A call from Howard Denker, saying, we have been invited back by Mr. Seldon. That's on July 23rd; another show of force would be good for the Club. The tanking trip has also been finalized, July 26th, on the Elkhorn, and $20.00 per person paid in advance to Don Graves. I guarantee this one will be fun. For those going to the Regional in Breckenridge, have a fun and safe trip and for us staying behind, make plans to attend some fun filled tours and have a safe and fun July 4th. Until next month.

If you are running with an
alternator, beware! Be sure to tighten the bolts, or this could
happen to you. When this happens on a tour, it kind of slows down a tour.

dessert, your own table service and drink. Please sign up at the meeting or call Karen (402-234-6110). We need a head

July 19th
Lofte Theatre
As we told you in the April newsletter we are planning to go to the Lofte Theatre in Manley, Nebraska to see Crazy for you. You will need to call and get tickets on your own. This is assigned seating, so if you plan to go, the earlier you call the better seat you can get. We will make more arrangements as to when and where to meet at a later date. (But don’t wait until the last minute to get your tickets!) 402-234-2553
July 23rd
Seldin Display
A Chance to Do It Again
Seldin in planning to hold an Old Fashion Ice Cream Social on the evening of the July 23rd at his shopping
center just west of 120th and Center. He has invited us to display our cars there from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. We’ve
been invited back because of the fine turn out we provided last year. We will displace our cars in about the
same places as last year except for those that were back by the theater, and the compensation will be the
same as last year, if we can get 18 – 20 cars out. This should be fun and will benefit the club tremendously. So
mark your calendars, pray for nice weather and sign up at the next meeting so that I will know if we can
support his request.
Thanks
Howard Denker

May and June (so far) have been busy with Model A activities
Our trip to Brownville, NE turned out rather chaotic since that happened to be the same weekend they have their
annual flea market. There were flea sales everywhere, so seeing the sights of Brownville became difficult to impossible.
Several of us did find our way to the winery, which was a neat place to visit, taste the wine, and relax in an out of the
way quiet area.
Next up was a trip to one of the local powder coating companies. R & R Powercoating was an informative host showing
us how it’s done from start to finish. We even saw a new meaning to the term “Hot Dog.”
Following this stop, we ventured down to the TipTop Loft apartment building,
which, as you know, used to be the Omaha Ford Factory. By asking the right
people, we were allowed to take the elevator to the roof where we got up
close and personal with the old Ford water tower. It was a great picture opp
to say the least, and, by the way, the old tank still looks good after being
there since 1916.
6
The next day it was a short tour down to Bellevue to the Sarpy County Museum. Although not a large place, there is a
lot of history packed into this building. There are lots of details about old Fort Crook and how it developed through the
years and became Offutt Air Force base. Once we saw and read all we could handle, it was off to the Lauritzen Gardens.
Most of us opted for the tram ride around the gardens, which had a nice audio to tell us what to look at. The miniature
train layout is really something to see -- seven miniature trains all running through an outside garden with miniatures of
Omaha area buildings along the way. If you haven’t made it down for a close look at the “1944 Big Boy” and the UP
Diesel on display there, you are really missing out on two larger than believable giants.
On June 6th
, a few of us showed our Model A’s at the Field Club
Home Tour. We were able to tour some great houses. We were
disappointed that we only had
4 cars, rather than the 10 that were signed up.
