PRAISED THE LORD!
What an evening!
Our AWANA Ministry Team kicked off the new year Wednesday, September 5th with 67 children and 20 workers.
As we move into the month of October, we are grateful and humbled by what the Lord is doing. We count it a privilege to share God’s Word with children and are blessed as they learn scripture. We are still supporting Operation Christmas Child. These kids are ex-cited about being on mission for Jesus and sharing the gospel around the world.
Our October themes: Oct. 3rd—“Toy Story Night” - bring a small toy Oct 10th—”Awana Colors Night” - bring coloring books or crayons Oct. 17th—”Birthday Night” - bring OCC’s biggest need (TBA) Oct 24th—”Piggy Bank Night” - bring loose change to send OCC shoeboxes Please keep the children in prayer. EVERY CHILD, EVERYWHERE, Jim Munson, Commander

Our Senior Saints led by Irving Robertson and Ruth Sapp hosted two other congregations Thursday, Sep-tember 6th – New Mount Zion Baptist Church and Bethel Baptist Church (all three pastors present as well) – for a time of fellowship, food, encouragement and a word from the Scriptures. I am grateful to the Lord for placing this upon Ir-ving’s heart and the willingness of our saints to gath-er with these other precious saints. Also grateful for the great word that Irving brought from Philippians 3 and 1 Corinthians 13. We look forward to more gatherings of this type in the future as we display our unity and bond in Christ. A movement of looking beyond the things that separate us to the greater thing that unite us – the power and person of Christ – has begun in our county with the purpose of others seeing the how good God is and how He can bring down any wall or barrier that we think might separate us (Ephesians 2:12-18). Financial Insights
The first step toward Financial Security By Philip Page
Twenty years ago I hosted a financial training seminar with Crown Ministries. The instructor was a middle-class blue-collar worker who had experienced job loss – twice. He did not have very much in savings, so when he lost his job the first time, he had to sell his toys to keep from bankruptcy. Emo-tionally, selling his car and boat was very difficult for him. But when he became employed again, he went right back and replaced them. Then when he was laid off the second time, and experienced the trauma all over, he figured there had to be a better way to live. He learned about managing mon-ey God’s way. He now lives debt free. We go into debt for several reasons. We buy toys (cars, boats, homes, vacations) we cannot afford, and in our culture, this is normal. We fail to save for rainy days (job loss; car repairs; home repairs, i.e. roofs, AC, plumbing, appli-
ances, etc.). We fail to save for future spending (cars, clothes, vacations, retirement). Scripture teaches us to save for the future.
Proverbs 6:6-8 New International Version (NIV) 6 Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise! 7 It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, 8 yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest.
We know that when we borrow, we become a slave to money (Prov. 22:7). But when we save, we rule over money, and use it to care for our families and advance the work of the kingdom. So, our first steps toward freeing ourselves from slavery are to build a basic $1,000 emergency fund and to stop borrowing money. The emergency fund is critical in changing our spending habits. With a small emergency fund to cover immediate emergencies, no longer must we borrow to pay for the emergen-cies. We pay cash. Then we replenish the fund, thus beginning to break the habit of borrowing. The $1,000 emergency fund cannot sit in our checking account. We may easily spend it. Instead, put it in a small savings account. Rest knowing the money is there if we need it, and will not be frivo-lously spent. Now we cut our spending, so we do not go deeper into debt.
From Terry & Debbie Nester NESTERS 4 UGANDA
“Greetings from Uganda! Debbie and I are ask-
ing for your prayers as “we are making many
life-changing decisions” about our future plans
and ministry.
In October of 2017, I was sitting in a church
service in the U.S. and the pastor was preaching
from the book of Numbers. He talked about the
fact that numbers are important to God-even
the number one-meaning you as an individual
are important to Him. He went on to say that
God calls us all into service and ministry but the
number one ministry begins with our own fami-
ly. As I sat in the church service, I really felt God
impress upon me that I was coming back to the
U.S. in 2018.
As we were planning to return to Uganda on
January 13, 2018, Debbie fell on black ice and
broke her femur on the 9th, which forced us to
remain in the US until the end of May.”
**The letter is quite long so I am going to hit
the highlights:
*Terry was able to return to Uganda, strategize
with the White’s and the head of Macedonian
Call. The outcome:
The White family will be moving into the
Nester’s house and the East African Outreach
office will remain at the current location.
In September the Nester’s are going to say their
goodbyes, sort and pack and leave Uganda
around November 15th. As the Nester’s have
served in Uganda over 14 years the transition
will not be an easy one. But, they feel it’s God’s
timing.
When returning back to the states, Rainbow
Forest Baptist Church will allow the Nester’s
stay in their missionary house during their tran-
sition period. They are seeking the Lord’s guid-
ance to see what He has next for them. They
hope to remain a part of Macedonian Call and
help facilitate the ministry from the states as
well as plan and organize teams for Uganda.
HOW YOU CAN PRAY FOR & HELP THE NESTERS
Pray that God allows them to serve in a minis-
try within the Roanoke Valley so they can be
close to family
Please continue your monthly support to
Macedonian Call and the Nesters4Uganda as
they make the transition back to the states.
The vision and the ministry has not changed,
they will still be involved in providing theo-
logical training to village pastors & leaders
throughout East Africa.
Per S. Ross Kegan, President, MCI:
The move back to the US is not without cost.
They must raise funds for:
a shipping container
The Retreat Center (helps missionaries transi-
tion)
plane tickets
government-mandated severance pay for a
few staff members
many other items
There have been financial impacts to the Nesters
from Debbie’s broken femur and the unexpected
travel home to preach the funeral of Terry’s
brother-in-law recently.
They need your continued monthly support until
God has opened a door here and sacrificial giv-
ing to cover some of these relocation expenses
(estimated $20,000).

Salut! This means “hello” in French speaking Haiti. While the French dialect that the Haitians
speak is not the same French you would hear in France or Canada, It has many similarities.
“Salut”is one of the them! You can use the greeting in any of the three countries and it will likely
elicit a friendly response,.
While all three countries are unique and beautiful in their own ways, we have a team of individuals
from our congregation traveling to Haiti in only a few months time. Many of you already know this;
however, we can never remind ourselves enough of the need for prayer, support and encourage-
ment—for our mission team, the Haitian People and the St. Louis family.
Another exciting opportunity that you can be a part of is the East African Outreach Taste and See
Celebration that is happening at Seaford Baptist Church on Saturday, November 3rd from 2:30-
5:30PM. This event is being hosted by Brian and Jerilyn White, missionaries living in Uganda, Af-
rica. There will be Uganda snacks to taste, hand crafted gifts to purchase and, of course, fellowship
with our beloved missionaries. Please come out on this Saturday and join us as we celebrate what
the Lord is doing in East Africa.
Today I will close with a few words from a man whose heart, like the White’s, was for the people of
Africa. Though he lived over a century ago, his words are still filled with truth and relevance. Let
us read these words and cultivate the same Christ exciting passion in our own lives. “God send me
anywhere, only go with me. Lay any burdens on me, only sustain me. And sever any tie in my heart
except the tie that binds my heart to Yours.” - David Livingston
