With the struggles going on in the world, in this community and in your personal life, never forgot that God loves “YOU” and he died for “YOU.” This community was built on the love of Christ and sharing that love with others. We are seeing a little progress toward rebuilding our community, but it could quickly turn backward without “YOU”. This community needs your love, your prayers and your service. A couple of Sunday’s ago our pastor reminded us that the church is not a building. The church is the people. The same goes with this community. This community is the people, not the church or churches that we meet in. Not the beautiful crosses that we were given at the close of our walks. And not the wonderful meals that we have all shared over the years. Wilmington Emmaus is the people and that is “YOU”. We serve God together and share that love throughout the surrounding communities. Without “YOU” there is no Emmaus Community. De Colores, Debbie Henize ~ Interim Community Chair ~ 513-314-0895

Hello Emmaus Community, Welcome Spring Last month I talked to you about Hope. Now its springtime and with that comes much hope. The grass begins to grow, and the flowers will soon be blooming. Most importantly we remember the sacrifice that was made on our behalf on the cross. I have heard many pastors say, “He died for you.” How much more powerful is that when we think of not just that he saved all mankind but specifically Jesus died so that you, the individual would have eternal life. MAURICE MITCHELL

Maurice’s Musings March is a month of change. The weather teases us by some warm, promising days that are followed by cold, gloomy ones. After a cold, snowy winter, I look forward to sunny, warm days. We are also in the middle of Lent when we are reminded of the suffering of our Lord. He suffered and died for each and every one of us, because we have all sinned. This year as we end the month of March, we celebrate Holy Week, beginning with Palm Sunday on Sunday, March 28th. The annual celebration of Easter, the Resurrection of our Lord, is an extra special time in the church year. It’s the most important day of the year for Christians everywhere. If fact, it’s because of Easter that we worship on the first day of the week, and we call it the Lord’s Day! Every Sunday is a “little Easter.” And if there were no Easter, there would be no reason to celebrate Christmas, and there wouldn’t even be a Christian church. As we draw near the end of Lent, take time to reflect on the suffering our Lord had to endure for you and me! This month, we not only celebrate the coming of spring and the new life it brings, but also we celebrate the promise of eternal life offered through Christ our risen Lord. May we always give thanks to God for His unconditional (and undeserved) love and mercy. I pray you attend worship at your church during Holy Week, and especially on Easter, Sunday April 4th. Please join your Emmaus Community on the second Monday of each month at the DOVE church at 7:00 pm. We need to support one another and build the Kingdom of God.

The History of St. Patrick’s Day (from Franklin Graham)

I wish all who celebrate St. Patrick’s Day knew the true meaning of the holiday. It wasn’t established to celebrate leprechauns, the color green, or getting drunk. It was to honor and celebrate the life of a man who preached Christ throughout Ireland. His heart was focused on what matters most.

St. Patrick once wrote these words:

“Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me,

Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,

Christ on my right, Christ on my left,

Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down,

Christ when I arise, Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,

Christ in every ear that hears me.”
