I would simply like to say WELCOME. If you are a new member of LSA, Welcome. If you are a past member of LSA, WELCOME BACK. As your new President, I realize that I have a “tough act to follow” with John Hubel, CML being our past President. John did an ex- cellent job leading LSA throughout the last two years and knowing him, he will still be very active with us in the future. I am planning to have some fun with the next two years. I may “mix it up a bit” with the order of our meetings. I would really like to get more of our members to participate in the discussions and presentations. I do recognize that public speaking is a big fear of many, it is not uncommon. I will do my best to “bribe” the membership into more participation. Bribes to be seen at the meetings, but you must attend to get my “bribe”. On the subject of attending the meetings; as I run into fellow members or past mem- bers at the supply house or just around town, I almost always get a reason why they haven’t been attending. Hey, I am not the LSA police, you don’t have to explain anything to me! I, of all people, understand that life is hectic. I also understand after doing locksmithing all day, you may not want to finish your day talking about locks. So why come to LSA meetings? Is it the free pizza or the soft drinks? Is it the sales rep that tells us to buy his product, not the other manufacturer’s product? For me, it’s that word that you hear a lot these days, NETWORK- ING. So often, we will have a problem that we don’t have a solution for. Many times another member has had a similar experience and can help. Maybe you have a job that you can’t handle or just doesn’t fit in the realm of what you are comfortable with? In other words, it’s not in your repertoire. You don’t work on cars, safes, cameras, ac- cess control, and commercial projects? There IS someone at the meeting that can help your customer or work with you to get the job completed. My personal business outlook is that it is not always about making money. It is about helping the customer. If you help the customer, do the work to the best of your ability, have honest business practices, network with others in your trade and the money and jobs will come! That job that you gave to the other professional will be recipro- cated. Hope to see you at the meeting! Regards, Ray Sinai, CML - LSA President LSA R EPORTER VOLUME 26, NO. 1 EDITORS: William M.
