ICERAYS TO SUPPORT JRICERAYS SKATE-A-THON ON

Texas Comptroller Susan Combs said thestate’s sales tax revenue in February was $1.75billion, an increase of 9.7 percent compared toFebruary 2010. “This is the 11th straight month that sales tax revenuehas increased,” said Combs. “Much like in recentmonths, there were increases across all major sectorsincluding oil and gas activity, manufacturing andretail trade. We will continue to monitor currenteconomic conditions and gauge the effects onconsumer and business spending.” On Friday, Combs will deliver $433.1 million inMarch sales tax payments to Texas cities, counties,transit systems and special purpose districts. Localsales tax allocations are up 7.1 percent compared toMarch 2010. So far this calendar year, local sales taxallocations are up 7.9 percent compared to the firstthree months of 2010. Combs will send March sales tax payments of $289.4million to Texas cities, up 6.7 percent compared toMarch 2010. So far this year, sales tax allocations tocities are up 7.1 percent compared to the same pointin 2010. Texas counties will receive March sales taxpayments of $27.1 million, up 11.1 percent comparedto one year ago. County sales tax allocations so farthis year are up 13.7 percent compared to a year ago. The 174 special purpose taxing districts around thestate will get $18.2 million in sales tax revenue, up 15percent compared to last March. Ten local transitsystems will receive $98 million, up 5.9 percent. State sales tax revenue for February and Marchpayments made to local governments represent salesthat occurred in January.
