Susie Dugas has done a great job getting the Social committee up and running; as you can see by her article in the newsletter, more help is needed. I would like to say thank you to all persons that showed up for the meeting!! We have lots of projects that will be starting over the next few months including, sprinkler head, fence, and supporting column repairs. I am also in the process of getting the basketball and soccer nets repaired. If any of you see things that might need our attention, please let the HOA know. As of this posting, I have not heard from the city concerning the striping of the roads and other repairs. I will keep you informed as I get that information. If you have more suggestions or ideas, please send us an email on the website at www.horizonparkhoa.com If you have not heard, the new HEB in Leander is opening on Feb 23rd. The store is located at the intersection of183 and 2243 in North Leander. Go by and see the progress!! There are many new stores such as Subway and Chase bank which are currently open. It sure looks like 183A will be open soon. The section between Lakeline Blvd. and Avery Ranch Rd. will be open next week, and the new toll road from 620 to North Leander will be open by March 1st. This new section, 620 to Leander, will require a TxTag. No cash will be taken. You can get the tag by logging on at www.txtag.org Remember that the new Leander library is open, stop by and have a look. Here is their web link, http://www.youseemore.com/leander/ Things are moving in the right direction; our HOA expenses are within budget and our deficit in delinquent homeowner dues are improving. One of the projects I am working on is meeting with Ridgewood, Letter from the President OakRidge and Blockhouse’s HOA board members. Since we are all neighbors, I feel we would benefit from exchanging ideas and getting to know one another. I plan on attending some of their HOA meetings and will let everyone know any pertinent or helpful information I may get. I have a meeting set up for March to meet with them here in Horizon Park. I want to thank everyone on the board and the committees for their hard work and dedication to making all of this work. We should all give Maury Dugas, our treasurer, a BIG thank you, He has spent the last two months chasing down issues for HOA that has in turn saved us many dollars. He does his position justice!! Board Members A Note From The Treasurer Along with my duties as treasurer, I also serve as chairman of the Architectural Control Committee, which serves to ensure that all improvements to any residence will serve to enhance the look of the homeowner’s property. Some of the responsibilities of the ACC are to study the plats of the property to determine setback lines and easements and make sure that proposed improvements will not extend beyond the setback lines or encroach into any easements. Studies are made of the restrictions to ensure improvements don’t violate these guidelines and will be aesthetically pleasing to the surrounding neighbors. I can say that probably 98% of all requests are in excellent taste and are approved for implementation, and it is these types of requests that give each home in our neighborhood a character that refl ects the tastes of the individual homeowner and sets each house, even those with the same fl oor plan and elevation, apart from each other. This is when a neighborhood becomes interesting and more appealing to prospective buyers. So keep up the good work in the personalization of your home, and remember, your home is a refl ection of you! Last year we received 16 requests for improvements and were forced to deny only 2. Remember, if your proposed improvement changes the fi t, form or function of the property, it must be approved by the ACC. Anyone wishing to submit a change request can fi nd the ACC change request form on our website, www.horizonparkhoa.com, under the e-forms heading. Thanks, to our dedicated ACC volunteers, Chris Brock, Phil Otterbine and Alex & Bonnie Gonzalez. By taking time out of your busy schedules to help in this endeavor, you’re making a difference and helping make Horizon Park a great place to call home. On another note, a contract has been signed with EZ Clean to begin straightening, cleaning and staining of all the common fences along Union St., Horizon Park Blvd. and the fences which border Crystal Falls Pkwy that are constructed with a 2x6 top plate. These fences belong to the homeowners association and it is our responsibility to maintain them. This work may have already started by the time you read this article. Maury Dugas Treasurer [email protected]

Infl atable(s) for all children to enjoy!Pot luck dinner (the social committee will provide the meat and everyone else should bring a side dish or casserole large enough to feed your family and a little bit more). This will be a great way to learn some handy gardening tips and to meet new neighbors. This could even be the beginning of a Horizon Park gardening club!?I am also looking for someone to help coordinate a sand volleyball tournament and / or 3 on 3 basketball tournament. Please contact me if you’re interested in helping to plan these sports events. Saturday, May 19th we be having an end of school / beginning of summer splash day. The event will begin at noon.
