Incidentally this time there are no ministers from Malda district. Eight former ministers have also been dropped this time despite almost all of them winning in their respective constituencies. The most noteworthy among them are Rachpal Singh and Rabindranath Bhattacharjee. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley held a press meet shortly after the event where he made it clear that BJP is now Mamata’s main opposition in Bengal stressing mainly on the fact that Left is in a down- ward slide in the state. Although Ahmed Patel from congress was present, the opposition parties boycotted the swearing in ceremony as a protest against the post poll violence that has been happening since the declarations of the results. CAMPUS NEWS Samavesh 2016 Adieu BMS 13-16Social Media Journalist Club

The stage was set, the lights shining bright, props were in place and models walked the ramp in high heels and poised. That’s how the evening of 27th May could be described when the graduating students of NIMD Fashion De-partment flaunted their designs and conquered the hearts and minds of all audiences present.Voyage 2016, Annual Pre -Graduation Fashion Show organized by NSHM Institute of Media and Communication witnessed 14 budding de-signers displayed their creations as they strug-gled to establish their institute as a new fashion destination at Kolkata . Three years of extreme hard work and strenu-ous training of the students paid off as the grand show unfolded the imagination and creativity

put together with ele-gance.Each and every student created a his-tory that night. They defined their fash-ion statements and

set the trends of

fashion in future. Who knows, India might get another Sabyasachi Mukherjee or Ritu Kumar? What we are sure of, is, that Voyage 2016 sure-ly proved to be one of the biggest platform to launch these young talent. It not only helped them to shine bright but opened a window for the real professional world. The highlight of the evening were the themes that these young fashion enthusiast showcased. We had Rishika Saha(Reflections) who want-ed to show the world about the different visual perceptions by creating beautiful silhouettes to represent reflections of more beautiful ideas. Then we had Zoya John (The Minimalist) who wished to tell a monochromatic story based on an idea ‘less is more’. Moving on to Manali

Guha Roy (Sky High), her creations surrounded the theme of Kites, which

were bright, beautiful and high spir-ited. Sudeshna Chakraborty (Shut-ter Devotion) wanted to inspire everyone, like she is, from the

vintage shutter windows of France. She provided a very edgy look that make one’s life colourful.” Technological evolution will fuse mankind and technology

into one”, said another Fash-ion designer Swati Singh (Technology), whose work revolved around the mod-ernization of technology and its impact on humans. Ev-

eryone loves and enjoys Royalty. Right? Who doesn’t? But Suni-ta with her theme on

Royal Spring, took us on a journey of the royal-ty in colours found in na-ture. Student Subhasree Majumder( Lampshade

on fire)- innovated by fusing lamp-shades with fashion. She told us how such beautiful things can lighten the darkest shades of our lives. Love in Paris was the theme of Reya Mandal. She expressed her love for the city and also glorifiesd the beauty and passion of Paris through her elegant outfits. Paris’! Ah Paris’! J’etaime Par-is’.Uttara Paul promised us to take us in galaxies far far away as her theme(Around The Wars). She showed us the elegant yet stylish side of the wars. The wars can also be stylish, cant they? Once upon a time, our design-er Priyanka Mitra had thought of a beautiful idea through which she recreated the magic by spinning a beautiful story of a princess in a frozen land. Her theme-

Frozen Queen sprin-kled magic that evening. Ever thought about how the layers of mountains and trees, waves of water, clouds forming the shape of ocean and the architecture of the ter-tiary areas of a temple look like? Well, Anisha (Layers of Imagination) made you look at the layers of nature through her eyes. Once Upon a Dream was represented by Shrimoyee Sen-

gupta as she featured the surrealist world of the famous painter Vladimir Kush. She aimed to re-solve the contradictory conditions of dream and reality and created an absolute reality. Designer Sony Chauhan dived into the oceanic world and gave us an insight of the beautiful coral coloured world that lies deep inside the seas. While we had French, it was time for some Spanish. Pri-yardarshi Ghosh opened the gates to Spain as she revealed the world of Paso Doble, Spanish dance form. Beauty & the Beast showcased the Senoritas. The evening was graced by the Who’s who of the fashion world. We had reputed directors, designers, actors like Sudeshna Roy, Abhijit Guha, Abhigyan Mukherjee, Sanjoy Bardhan, Abhishek Roy, Ishaan Majumder, Pujarini Ghosh,Riddhi Bandyopadhya, Moinak Baner-jee and RJ Smriti Singh to attend the event. The students battled out and were judged by em-inent designers Nil (Designer),Narendra Kaur (Designer head Turtle ltd) and Neel Bhattacha-rya (Actor). Fashion students Rishika Saha and Sauryavani Anahita John were awarded the first and second prize respectively. This was fol-lowed by a tie for the second runner up prize by, Priyanka Mitra and Sony Prasad Cahuhan. Famous fashion choreographer Pinky Kenwor-thy was the choreographer for that night’s grand event.Sponsoring the event were companies like Dominos,Pansari,Bodyline and Stun the Sun. Siti Cable was the channel partner. Fashion, a word that sets the tongues wagging. Women get excited, there is hoopla of discus-sions on dresses, shoes, accessories and every-thing that a woman loves to embrace. While fashion is all about glamour, style and trends, the fashion shows are about glitz, lights, beauti-ful ladies walking down the ramp in elegant out-fits and everything posh. All our childhood, the

women have been idolizing models like Aish-warya Rai, Sushmita Sen, Carol Gracias,

and Deepika Padukone, while they walk down the ramp highlighting the works of the best designers. We capture the

trends and the style in our minds. The biggies of the Indian fashion industry

like Rohit Bal, Manish Malhotra, Agnimitra Paul, Anamika Khanna, etc had started their careers by launching their ideas and creations on a stage which then made them who they are today. They set the culture, the trend and showed us, what ele-gant couture is.The journey of these fellow young design-ers came to an end at NSHM Institute of Media and Design on May 27th but a bigger road lies ahead of them as they take over the world of Fashion. As Coco Chanel once quoted “Everyday is a fashion show and the world is your runway.” Bon Voyage all budding fashion designers batch 2014-16 of NIMD.Sprinkle your little magic, Paint the town colourful, Put on your high heels and never let down your spirit.
