PTA President’s Message On February 7th, PTA hosted the Father Daughter Dance. It was so
nice to see all our SBE girls dressed in their finest and their dads beside
them with such pride. What an incredible evening to witness the bond
between fathers and daughters.
Our next PTA General Meeting is February 27th at 6:00 p.m., followed by Bingo Night.
The Spring Book Fair kicks off this same evening in the Media Center! Be sure to stop in
and browse! At the PTA General Meeting, both the Nominating Committee and a
revised PTA Budget will be presented to the membership for approval. The Nominat-
ing Committee is elected by the membership and charged with the important task of
nominating an eligible person for each office to be filled on the Executive Board. If
you are interested in serving on the 2015-16 SBE PTA Executive Board, be sure to com-
plete the Officer Nomination Form and return it to school by Weds., March 18. You
may also attend the Information Meeting on Weds., March 11, to learn more about
the responsibilities of the Executive Board offices to be filled. Please visit the PTA Web-
site to obtain a Nomination Form and to read job descriptions for the offices to be
filled and the process for nominating/electing officers.
Friday, March 13, is the 2nd Annual SBE Heritage Night.
This is a wonderful opportunity to experience and
learn about cultures and traditions from different parts
of the U.S. and countries around the world. Enjoy
dance and musical performances, too! Don’t miss
this educational and fun event!
Thank you for your continued support of your PTA!

Inside this issue:
Principal’s Message The last week certainly proved interesting with ice, winds, power outages,
and impassable roads. Hopefully, your families stayed safe and warm dur-
ing the winter storm. Students missed three days of school, and two of
those days will be made up on the scheduled inclement weather days:
March 16 and April 3. Students will recover the third day by completing
assignments on itslearning. Teachers have posted assignments under their
conduct courses, and students should complete them by 5 PM on February 25 in or-
der to be marked present for February 19. In addition, the specials teachers have
posted assignments, and students should complete tasks for the specials class they
attend on “B” day since that was the day we missed. If we miss any additional days,
students will recover the time through itslearning.
We are hoping to see many of you at our informational meeting regarding the PTA
Executive Board openings for the 2015-2016 school year. If you are a current PTA
member and are interested in serving SBE in a leadership role, I encourage you to
meet with us on March 11 at 8:30 AM. We will explain the roles and responsibilities of
each PTA officer position and answer any questions you have. Nomination forms for
the PTA officer positions are due by March 18, and the nominating committee will in-
terview applicants through March 20.
In the meantime, we hope to see you at the Kindergarten Musical and Art Show on
February 24 and at Bingo Night on February 27!
Respectfully,
Lee Anne Rice Principal
