PTA President’s Message On February 7th, PTA hosted the Father Daughter Dance. It was so nice to see all our SBE girls dressed in their finest and their dads beside them with such pride. What an incredible evening to witness the bond between fathers and daughters. Our next PTA General Meeting is February 27 th at 6:00 p.m., followed by Bingo Night. The Spring Book Fair kicks off this same evening in the Media Center! Be sure to stop in and browse! At the PTA General Meeting, both the Nominating Committee and a revised PTA Budget will be presented to the membership for approval. The Nominat- ing Committee is elected by the membership and charged with the important task of nominating an eligible person for each office to be filled on the Executive Board. If you are interested in serving on the 2015-16 SBE PTA Executive Board, be sure to com- plete the Officer Nomination Form and return it to school by Weds., March 18. You may also attend the Information Meeting on Weds., March 11, to learn more about the responsibilities of the Executive Board offices to be filled. Please visit the PTA Web- site to obtain a Nomination Form and to read job descriptions for the offices to be filled and the process for nominating/electing officers. Friday, March 13, is the 2 nd Annual SBE Heritage Night. This is a wonderful opportunity to experience and learn about cultures and traditions from different parts of the U.S. and countries around the world. Enjoy dance and musical performances, too! Principal’s Message The last week certainly proved interesting with ice, winds, power outages,

SBE PTA announces the following positions open on

the 2015-2016 SBE PTA Executive Board:

President

Treasurer

Secretary

Vice President (2 positions available)

Vice President of Communications

For a description of each position and to obtain a

nominating form, please visit the SBE PTA Website.

If you are interested in serving on the 2015-16 SBE PTA

Executive Board, then...

1. Complete the 2015-16 SBE PTA Officer Nominat-

ing Form. Deadline to submit the nomination form

is Wednesday, March 18, 2015.

2. You may also attend the PTA Executive Board

Information Meeting on March 11, 2015 from

8:30AM - 9:00AM. This informational meeting is

hosted by the PTA Nominating Committee mem-

bers.

Nominee & Officer Election Process:

Only current members of SBE PTA may be nomi-

nated.

PTA members may nominate themselves.

If you are nominating someone other than yourself,

please ask the member for his or her consent to be

nominated before submitting their name to the

nominating committee.

Interviews of nominees will be conducted between

March 2 - 20, 2015. Interviews are conducted by

the Nominating Committee.

Submit the 2015-16 SBE PTA Officer Nominating Form

by the Wednesday, March 18, 2015 due date.

The slate of proposed officers will be confirmed on

April 2, 2015 and nominees contacted.

Officer election occurs at the SBE PTA General

Meeting (at Spring Fling) on Friday, April 24, 2015.

Doors open for Bingo Night at 5:30PM. Bingo Night

begins at 6:00PM sharp! The PTA General Meeting

will take place at that time. This is an important

meeting for all PTA members to attend. The following

items will be presented to the membership:

Opening message from Mrs. Rice, SBE Principal.

Revised SBE PTA Budget for approval.

Election/approval of the Nominating Committee.

Information regarding nominating yourself or some-

one else to serve on the 2015-16 SBE PTA Executive

Board.

Settles Bridge Elementary is collecting juice boxes

from March 2nd-13th for Blessings in a Backpack.

This student group effort at Lambert High School pro-

vides backpacks of food to over 100 children in For-

syth County Schools each Friday during the school

year. A collection bin for the juice boxes will be

placed in the front lobby of SBE.

Blessings in a Backpack

provides elementary

school children who are

on the federal Free &

Reduced Price Meal Program with a backpack of

food to take home for 38 weekends during the

school year. This is a 501C (3) non-profit organization.

On February 7th, over 450 fathers and daughters took to the dance floor for the

"Evening Under The Stars" event. It was once again a big success! Thank you to

all of those who helped by volunteering and making the night possible.

Thanks to all of the students who participated

in the Honoring Our Heroes Contest last

month. There are some very talented writers

at Settles Bridge Elementary and amazing he-

roes in our community. We are glad you

shared your wonderful hero stories. There was

one winning entry per grade level that will

now proceed on to the Forsyth County com-

petition on March 5th.

Box Tops expiring over the Summer??

Keep sending your Box Tops until May 15th!

Please send your Box Tops to school on either a

collection sheet or in a zip lock bag. Be sure to

include your child’s name, grade and teacher’s

name on the sheet/zip lock bag in order to en-

ter them in next year’s Fall Contest.

Some Box Tops have June/July expiration dates.

Don’t throw them away! Send these in and we

will submit them over the summer. We’ll keep

track of students who turn in Box Tops before

the end of school and use those toward their

Fall Contest total next year!

RESULTS ARE IN!!! Last Fall, the Box Tops you sent

in, SBE PTA received a check for $1,800.00 that

will be used to support Settles Bridge Elemen-

tary’s educational initiatives! We would love to

do the same this Spring!
