Kohinoor's 53rd Foundation DayKohinoor celebrated its 53rd Foundation Day on 7 December 2014 at Kohinoor Continental. CMD Unmesh Joshi briefed the senior personnel present on the year gone by and shared his expectations for the coming year. "To put it in a nutshell," he said, "from this year, it is our responsibility to make Kohinoor a reputed, efficient, growing and smart organization for our future growth."

Unabashedly, I give the credit for thinking of increasing the frequency of Kohinoor Times to my 'partner in (the crime of) corporate communications' Makarand Vagaskar. His gentle but persistent suggestions to send out a communication every month to all of you set me thinking.

Then it flashed across my mind * E-Kohinoor Times-Flash (EKT-Flash) * a terse update on what is happening in Kohinoor. Can we then have an EKT-Flash every month? Well, it is up to all of us to make Kohinoor a 'happening' Group. Do keep emailing information and photos of what is happening at your end to as and when it happens. And we shall keep coming to you with EKT-Flash every month. Not a difficult task, is it? Of course, the main quarterly will continue. My sincere thanks to all those who have contributed for this issue.

I confess that it slipped my mind to put in two important events in the last issue of EKT – Atul Modak's 'marketing marvel' and a laudable initiative undertaken by Kohinoor American School. Thank you Archana (Dhawle) for bringing the 'Modak omission' to my notice so discreetly and sweetly, if I may say so. My heartfelt apologies to my dear friend Atul Modak and Kohinoor American School without any excuses. All I can say is it was not intentional, for it is not in my blood to ignore or hurt anyone intentionally.

But as you can see, I have made up for it on this very page.

On the occasion of Children's Day, Kohinoor American School (KAS) gave an impetus to the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' campaign with a clean-up drive of Khandala Lake in association with Lonavala Municipal Corporation. Kohinoor Hospital Launches SHAMS ClinicThe Super Speciality ENT Care & Research Centre of Kohinoor Hospital launched a unique initiative - SHAMS Clinic - on 15th December 2014. SHAMS, an acronym for Sinus, Headache, Allergy, Migraine and Stress Management is the first such super speciality clinic of its kind in India to specifically treat such conditions. Chief Guest Shri Shri 1008 Swami Hari Chaitanya Mahaprabhuji and Guest of Honour Rhea Chakraborty, a familiar face in Bollywood, graced the occasion. Dignitaries on the dais included Kohinoor Hospital Vice President Rajeev Boudhankar and Consultant ENT Surgeon Dr Sanjay Helale.

Swachhata AbhiyanKTI's Ambarnath branch organized a 'Swachhata Abhiyan' on 2 December 2014. Demonstrating that cleanliness begins at home, they thoroughly cleaned the branch premises making it sparkling clean.

Clothes For The UnderprivilegedKTI, Dadar Branch, initiated a drive for d o n a t i n g o l d c l o t h e s t o t h e underprivileged in a dignified manner. The donors were requested to wash iron and pack the clothes to bring smiles on the faces of the recipients.

Educating Young LeadersKohinoor Business School (KBS) and Don Bosco Institute of Management (Vidyavihar) in association with Bombay Management Association (BMA) organized an interactive session on Training Mind and Soul for management students. The session was aimed at enhancing the competencies, skills and performance of the students.

Morning PrayerKohinoor Technical Institute (KTI) has taken the initiative o f t e a c h i n g students to start the day with a prayer 'Humko Man Ki Shakti Dena', a very popular bhajan. All branches of KTI begin their day with this prayer.

KIS And KB Revive Indian GamesApart from regular games, Indian traditional games were also revived at the 5th Annual Sports Meet of Kohinoor International School and Kohinoor Blossoms. Traditional games like Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Dabaa-ais-pais, and Lagori were played by the children. The occasion was graced by CA Sunil Karve, Chairman, Governing Board, Kohinoor Education Trust.

India's Tallest Vertical Run- Skyscraper Dash was held at

Kohinoor Square in Dadar on 21st December 2014.

Six Kohinoor teams - Kohinoor Square Home, Kohinoor Real Estate, Kohinoor Hotels, Kohinoor Hospital, Kohinoor Education Trust and Kohinoor Technical Institute participated in the

Relay Dash. Besides, there was a special team - Kohinoor Senior Officials. Sandeep Shikre of SSA Architects, the Principal Architect and brain behind the unique diamond design of Kohinoor Square, was also an active participant in the Skyscraper Dash. Eban Solomon, Executive Assistant to CMD, an individual participant, made it in 13 minutes 5 secs flat - * 52 floors * 1250 stairs * 203 metres (vertical height). Among the Kohinoor teams, Kohinoor Hospital won the first prize, Kohinoor Technical Institute won the second prize and Kohinoor Education Trust won the third prize. Congratulations to the winners of Skyscraper Relay Dash.Apart from Kohinoor employees, more than 100 enthusiasts of tower climbing raced up 52 storeys as they participated in a marathon to conquer the skyscraper. Everyone, from children to seniors participated in the event enthusiastically. The seniormost participant was Janardan Bylahalli Raghunath aged 82, and the youngest one was Ishaan Telang just 9 years old. Kohinoor thanks all participants and achievers for their zealous grit and response.
