BRIEF PROFILE OF OUR PRODUCTS/EXPERTISE

 IN THE COLD STORAGE AND PACK HOUSES.

VOLTAS is part of the TATA group of companies and is a front runner amongthe corporate sector in the air conditioning and refrigeration field, having been apioneer in this field for over five decades.

VOLTAS were the first company in India to begin indigenous manufacture of thecomplete range of AC&R equipment such as open type reciprocatingcompressors, heat exchangers, etc.

Our product range today encompasses the full range of AC&R equipment fromhermetic, semi-hermetic and open type reciprocating compressors as well ascentrifugal compressors and Absorption Chillers (steam as well as direct fired),with HITACHI collaboration. Shell & Tube Heat exchangers with STANDARDREF USA Collaboration, as well as a host of other products designed anddeveloped by us such as Room Air Conditioners, Split and Package Units,Display Coolers, Freezers, etc.

We are proud of the fact that apart from being a leader in the AC&R field,VOLTAS has actively participating in the national building exercise by providing

and installing air conditioning systems for critical applications such as theindigenously built frigates for the Indian Navy, AC systems for ISRO at Thumbaand Sriharikota, Clean Room facilities for satellite assembly at DOS and othersimilar facilities for various defense establishments at DRDO, BDL, BEL, ITI, etc.

VOLTAS expertise however does not stop at providing air conditioning facilities,but also encompasses Refrigeration Applications for Process Industries in thePharmaceutical, Chemical and Food Processing Industry.

The first indigenously built Potato Storage was set up by us in the early 40’s.When NDDB began their Operation Flood Programme, Voltas were the first to

design and build the Ice Accumulation System for the Motor Dairies at Delhi,Calcutta and Chennai. In the 70’s again when NDDB began setting up their BulkMilk Vending Booths at Delhi and Chennai, Voltas were the first to design andinstall the refrigeration system. Voltas was one of the first companies to bechosen by WHO as a Service Provider for the installation of Walk-in-Coolers forvarious Medical Centers throughout India. In the Sericulture Industry, Voltaswas once again the forerunner for setting up indigenously the Cold StorageFacilities for their Research and Breeding Centers all over the country.

In the early 70’s Voltas once again gave the lead in setting up of numerous ColdStorages and Freezing Plants, Plate Freezers, Blast Freezers and Ice Plants all

along the Coast to give thrust to the sea food processing and export industry.

We are presently executing a major cold storage renovation project @ MUMBAIinvolving complete design, Supply, Installation and Commissioning of their coldstore facilities. The total project cost is in excess of 150 Lakhs. Aside frommanufacturing our own Refrigeration equipment i.e., Compressor, condenserand cooling units etc., we are in association with reputed manufacturers of coldroom prefabricated panels (both in India and from sources abroad) can handleany size of job from small cold room to complete cold storages, complexes,having multi chamber for storage of variety of products from temperature of +5Deg. C. to as low as –30 Deg. C and below.

We have the in-house capabilities for designing and building complete turn keycold storage installations. In Karnataka we have our branch office located inBangalore, which is staffed by a team of over 30 trained and experiencedengineers and supported by our service center with trained supervisors andtechnicians.

During the recent past we have successfully completed a wide variety ofrefrigeration plants.

VIL carries out complete turnkey contracting projects involving civilconstruction, plumbing and building management system, electrificationprojects, pollution control, water treatment, landscaping, agro development, etc.,both in the International as well as Domestic markets. VIL has fully met with thestringent engineering standards set by international consultants such as SirAlexander Gibbs, Betchel Corpn., Buckle & Partners, Kennedy & Donkin, RalphParson International, Sotechni, Italy, Tata Consulting Engineers, W.S. Atkins &White & Young Emirates, etc.

The AC&R Division of Voltas has also most 600 trained and experiencedengineers spread over 20 cities all over the country. Among the above, we have a

dedicated team of engineers who are exclusively earmarked for handling therefrigeration projects.

We also have service centers / service representatives located in Mangalore,Mysore, Belgaum etc., to take care of the interior parts of the state.
