SITUATION VACANT
1. Applications are invited for 1 post of fellowship/stipend @ Rs. 13,000/- (PhD enrolled
in NIFSAT) in the EFS funded project entitled “Development of innovative Jujube
products and capacity building under Public Private Partnership mode”. The
appointment will be purely on fellowship/stipend with no 3rd division. Applications on
prescribed form available at www.uaf.edu.pk along with one most recent attested
photograph and attested copies of academic certificates, degrees, testimonials,
detailed mark certificates and experience certificates with specific dates should
reach in the office of Dr. Muhammad Inam-ur-Raheem, Assistant Professor, National
Institute of Food Sciences & Technology, UAF during office hours within 7 days after
the publication of this notice. Applications either incomplete or received after due
date will not be entertained. The University reserves the right not to fill vacancy
without assigning any reason.
2. Applications are invited for the post of Short term labour (100% time spent) @ Rs.
1000/- per day (Maximum Rs. 20000/- per month) for 6 months in the HEC funded
project No. 115664 entitled “Improving Groundwater Aquifer by Spatio-Temporal
Assessment of Groundwater Recharge Potential in Water Scare Areas of Rechna
Doab”. The appointment will be purely on DPL. Applications should be reach in the
office of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arshad, Department of Irrigation & Drainage, UAF
during office hours within 7 days after the publication of this notice. The university
reserves the right not to fill vacancy without assigning any reason.
3. Applications are invited for 2 DPL positions in the HEC funded research project No.
4592 against the pre-allocated budget. A paper application along with an attested
copy of CNIC must be submitted by the end of this week in the office of Dr.

PLACEMENT OF PhD THESIS FOR PEER REVIEW
1. PhD thesis of Miss Atia Nazir, Regd. No. 2011-ag-938, will be placed in the office of
the Chairman, Department of Botany for one week (06-04-2021 to 12-04-2021) prior
its submission for foreign evaluation. The faculty and the students are invited to
peruse the thesis for any suggestions/correction. The suggestions received if any
will incorporated through the supervisory committee. Title: “Developmental and
physiological changes in maize under cobalt (Co) toxicity: strategies to mitigate the
Co damage”.
2. PhD thesis of Miss Saher Nawaz, Regd. No. 2011-ag-641, will be placed in the
office of the Chairman, Department of Botany for one week (06-04-2021 to 12-04-
2021) prior its submission for foreign evaluation. The faculty and the students are
invited to peruse the thesis for any suggestions/correction. The suggestions received
if any will incorporated through the supervisory committee. Title: “Comparative
efficacy of various growth promoting agents on buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum)
at different sowing dates and heat stress”.

1. Mr. Umar Iftikhar Khan, Regd. No. 2005-ag-1827, PhD student of the Department of
Plant Breeding and Genetics will defend his PhD thesis on 22-04-2021 at 09:00 am
in DLC-2, Faculty of Agriculture, UAF. The title of his thesis is “Gene expression

analysis of NF-Y transcription factors for drought tolerance in Triticum aestivum L.”.

3. Mr. Muhammad Awais, Regd. No. 2011-ag-3338, PhD student of the Institute of Soil
and Environmental Sciences has successfully defended his thesis in a seminar at
the University level on 02-04-2021. The title of his thesis is “Quantification of climate
variability on sunflower under semiarid conditions of Punjab for optimizing nitrogen
and sowing dates using DSSAT and APSIM”.
4. Mr. Muhammad Rizwan Shahid, Regd. No. 2011-ag-3946, PhD student,
(Environmental Science) of the Institute of Soil and Environmental Sciences has
successfully re-defended his synopsis in a seminar at the University level on 30-03-
2021. The title of his PhD synopsis is “Modeling the effects of climate change on
nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) of wheat in arid and semi-arid environments”.
5. Mr. Asif Hussain, Regd. No. 2014-ag-1054, PhD Pharmacology student at Institute
of Physiology and Pharmacology appeared for his PhD thesis defense on 30-03-
2021. His findings were thoroughly examined and critically discussed by the External
Examiners and Supervisory Committee. Mr. Asif Hussain defended his thesis
successfully. He was, asked to submit the hard-bound copies of his PhD thesis.
6. Ms. Nida Noreen, Regd. No. 2014-ag-1759, PhD Pharmacology student at Institute
of Physiology and Pharmacology appeared for her PhD thesis defense on 29-03-
2021. Her findings were thoroughly examined and critically discussed by the
External Examiners and Supervisory Committee. Ms. Nida Noreen defended her
thesis successfully. She was, asked to submit the hard-bound copies of her PhD
thesis.
7. Ms. Ifra Saleem, Regd. No. 2001-ag-941, PhD student of the Institute of Soil and
Environmental Sciences has successfully defended her thesis in a seminar at the
University level on 02-04-2021. The title of her thesis is “The potential and efficiency
of nano-K coated diammonium phosphate (DAP) to improve crop yield”.
8. Mr. Muhammad Ahsan Qureshi, Regd. No. 2010-ag-2691, PhD student of the
Institute of Horticultural Sciences has successfully defended his thesis held on 05-
04-2021. The title of his thesis is “Effect of various rootstocks on tree growth, fruit
production and quality of Kinnow mandarin”.

9. Mr. Muhammad Zeshan Arshad, Regd. No. 2003-ag-862, a PhD (Statistics) student
Department of Mathematics and Statistics has successfully defended his synopsis
entitled “A New Transformed-G Class of Distributions with Theory and Applications”
on 19-02-2021.
10. Miss Shamim Umer, Regd. No. 2015-ag-1063, PhD student has successfully
defended her thesis on 31-03-2021. The title of her thesis is “Heavy metal
absorbance potential of some plant species grown in Faisalabad City (Pakistan)”.
