Pursuant to the powers under the Fisheries (Scalefish) Rules 2015 ("the Rules") that were delegated to the Director (Marine Resources) on 27 November 2015 by the Minister acting pursuant to section 20(1) of the Living Marine Resources Management Act 1995 ("the Act"), I hereby determine that the part of the scalefish fishery in the “north-west area” and the “central-north area” that comprises of the activities of:

1. the take of squid; and,

2. the possession of squid other than the possession of Gould’s squid by the holder of a Commonwealth authority that were taken under that Commonwealth authority or by the holder of a Tasmanian fishing licence (automatic squid jig) that were taken under the authority of that licence in State waters excluding the “north-west area” and the “central-north area”;

is closed from 6 October 2017 to 22 October 2017 (inclusive),where:“north-west area” is defined to mean the area of State waters adjacent to the western north coast of Tasmania:

(a) bounded in the west by an imaginary line starting at Woolnorth Point and then running due west along the line of latitude 40°38’30”S to its intersection with the line of longitude at 144°30’E and then running due north along longitude 144̊ 30’E; and,

(b) bounded in the north by the limit of State waters; and,(c) bounded in the east by the line of longitude at

145°43’30”E; and,

“central-north area” is defined to mean the area of State waters adjacent to the eastern north coast of Tasmania:

(a) bounded in the west by the line of longitude at 146°32’E; and,

(b) bounded in the north by the limit of State waters; and,(c) bounded in the east by the line of longitude at

147°01’15”E; and,(d) including the waters of the Tamar River and Port Sorell.

Any expression used in this public notice having a particular meaning under the Act or the Rules has the same meaning in this public notice as it has in the Act or the Rules.

It is prohibited to take and possess squid in these areas during the closure. Transiting the areas in possession of squid taken outside the area is not permitted (with some minor exceptions). It is my intention to request the Head of the State Service to exercise discretion to not advertise the following duties in accordance with section 40 (2) of the State Service Act 2000 and to promote the following permanent employee:

Duties Assigned: Teacher

Description of the Role: To implement and manage appropriate learning programs for students and to assess individual student progress.

Essential Requirements: • Qualifications as established by the Tasmanian Industrial Commission in the Teaching Service (Tasmanian Public Sector)

Award, 2005.• Current certificate of registration; or provisional registration; or limited authority to teach granted by the Teachers

Registration Board (Tasmania) in accordance with the provisions of the Teachers Registration Act 2000. Please note that a person with a limited authority to teach can only be employed on a fixed-term basis.

• The Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Act 2013 requires persons undertaking work in a regulated activity to be registered. A regulated activity is a child related service or activity defined in the Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Regulations 2014. This registration must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of this may be checked at any time during employment.

• Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status – Employment)Desirable Requirements:

• Four years or more training as defined in the Teaching Service (Tasmanian Public Sector) Award 2005

State Service employees aggrieved by this intention may make application to the Tasmanian Industrial Commission for a review under section 50(1)(b) of the State Service Act 2000. Applications for review are to be lodged with the Tasmanian Industrial Commission within 14 days of the publication of this notice in the Tasmanian Government Gazette.
