New Delhi: As high-decibel campaigning for Delhi state poll ended Thursday, opinion polls and politi- cal pundits were divided on whether BJP or AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) will squeak through and manage a majority to form a government in India’ capital. The campaigning to control the 70-member assembly in the Feb 7 voting (results will be out Feb 10) saw mudslinging and verbal duels between the BJP a nd the AAP i n this two-horse race with Congress relegated to the margins. The BJP made it a prestige issue, and the campaigning was led by part y pres iden t Amit Shah, chie f ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi, Prime Minister Modi himself and many central ministers and MPs. Perhaps reacting to AAP loud claims that their party will clinch a majority, Amit Shah Thursday said the assembly polls were not a "ref- erendum" on the performance of the government led by Modi. Addressing a rally, Shah said the Delhi election was a fight between two ideologies -- one that makes and keeps its promises (BJP), and the other of lying and making false promises, hinting towards the AAP . Kejriwal thundered, "The BJP has all the administrative apparatus but we have truth and God on our side," He said people had seen his Amman: Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh said his country's strike against Islamic State in Syria on Thursday was just the start of its response to the militant group's immolation of its captured pilot last month.
