November - December The Chicago Ridge Public Library will be collecting hats, mittens, gloves, and scarves for adults and children in need. Store bought and handmade items are welcome! Stop by the library and place your donations on our hat and mitten trees during November and December.

Project Next Generation Grant AwardedThe Chicago Ridge Public Library was awarded a third Project Next Generation Grant. Our grant titled “Learn Today, Lead Tomorrow” will focus on students ages 10–18. Library mentors will run programs on digital literacy by introducing clubs about sewing, coding, robotics, videography, and circuitry to our youth. New technologies introduced to our library include: Cricut Explore One Cutting Machine, Spheros, Ozobots, a Canon Camcorder, and LittleBits Steam Education Packs. Each component will last 6 weeks. Funding for this grant was awarded by the Illinois State Library, a Department of the Office of Secretary of State, using funds provided by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA).

The quilt contains six different feature blocks plus three mini blocks that will be assembled to produce this striking, asymmetrical quilt. The twist is that all of the blocks are dimensional! Each month, participants will receive patterns and demonstrations of techniques used in one of the blocks. Members will then complete their own blocks at home, bringing them back for a show-and-tell at the next months’ class.
