voicing structures
DESCRIPTION
A way of mapping out all possible chord voicings within the c major scale to a single number series for harmonic and structural consistency (here it is the voicing series vector 145236). Take the chord cdefga and apply series vector 145236: = cfgdea. Apply the same series to each inversion (defgac, efgacd, fgacde, etc). Take the original, cdefga, and shift the entire chord up to next member of the scale, defgab, and apply both the inversions and the voicing series. Continue until all options have been exhausted. After all transpositions and inversions, you result in 42 consistent, related chords (number of notes in complete scale times the number of notes in your chord). If you transpose this to all twelve keys, you find that your progressions will have a ton of variety and yet an incredible amount of consistency and interrelation.TRANSCRIPT
