The TCS990 is a non-blocking, redundant,
digital switch for all kinds of voice and
data communications, such as radio,
telephone, public address, intercom, voice
logging, etc. Even a mix of these types of
communications can be combined in one
and the same system. Due to its modularity
and fl exibility it can be easily adapted to
every size, supporting from one channel
to a main port system In the maximum
confi guration the system can support over
1000 voice or data channels.
Since its introduction in 2004 the TCS990
has built a large installed base and has
proven to be extremely reliable, even in
a non-redundant set-up. High fl exibility
of the design allows easy addition of
user required functionality. All kinds of
interfaces are supported, such as: Ethernet,
ISDN, 64kbps and analogue leased lines.
The switch is mainly targeted for the
maritime, air traffi c and land mobile
markets.
In the maritime market the TCS990 is a
fl exible and cost effective solution for
all communication needs in harbours, on
bridges, on locks alongside channels and
coastal stations.
In Air Traffi c Control the TCS990 can be
the right choice both for small as well
as larger airports. The TCS990 is the
most cost effective choice and is able to
fulfi l all communication needs. For large
airports the TCS990 is a good solution as
an independent back-up for the main ATC
communication system.
For land mobile communication the switch
can operate with selcall, diversity or even
simulcast to cover large areas.
A typical TCS990 system comprises of a
digital switch, several types of operator
consoles and remote control equipment.
By means of thorough testing, a modular
software design and a fi eld proven real
time operating system, this reliable
system meets all customer needs. A
highly advanced CMS tool is available to
control and monitor the system remotely.
All system events are logged and SNMP
messages can be sent to allow remote
alerts.
MEP is committed to meet all customer
needs. All electronics and software are
designed and built by MEP, enabling us
to manufacture specialized modules and
fi rmware.

Benefi tsThe benefi ts of the TCS990 are:
• Optimum cost performance ratio
high quality at unmatched cost level
• Reliability
proven technology with large installed
base and years of experiences
• Flexibility
versatility, scale ability, client specifi c
adaptability, confi guration options
• Simple Servicing
built-in self testing modules, one type
of system card, hot swappable, remote
diagnostics and maintenance.
Value for moneyThe TCS990 design is modular, fl exible, easy
to confi gure and has a special focus on
reliability. This guarantees high availability,
a long life span, easy extensions and low
service costs.
Project approachThe success factor of MEP is doing things
in partnership with our suppliers and
customers. This approach optimizes the
engineering process and helps us meet the
end-user requirements again and again. MEP
uses three steps to achieve the targets of the
end-user.
• Co-design
budgeting & functional design in close
consultation with the customer (system
integrator)
• Assembling & confi guration
Integration of all hard- and software
modules and performing extensive in-
house tests
• Factory Acceptance Tests
Together with our customer we do an in-
house test simulating the actual situation
at the end-user site.
MEP can provide on site support to assist
the system integrator in commissioning the
total system.
