Louis Vuitton Red Carpet and Partyby Kasia Koniar – Paris Correspondent
Imagine the last day of the Ready-to-Wearfashion week in Paris. After an extremely tightschedule and an array of events surrounding thishappening, everyone is slightly light headed andweakened from fatigue. Louis Vuitton took theresponsibility to pep us up and recharge ourbatteries.
On Sunday, October 9th at about six o’clock, thenew LV boutique on the Champs Elysees, (muchawaited by the Parisian crème de la crème),finally opened its doors after two years ofrenovation. The inauguration was an extravagantceremony where I had trouble keeping count ofcelebrities, which included Sharon Stone, thealmost cult French actress Catherine Deneuve, the Louis Vuitton muse of the moment UmaThurman. Jade Jagger, Selma Hayek, musicianssuch as Eve and Pharrell Williams, the prodigiousdesigner Karl Lagerfeld, Diane Kruger withFrench actor husband Guillaume Canet andmany more were also celebrating the hotteststore opening of the season in the city of lights.Big wigs included Sydney Toledano, who isPresident of Dior and Yves Carcelle who isPresident of Louis Vuitton.
The boutique is now the largest of the LVBoutiques in the world and was designed to givethe shoppers the impression of continuation ofthe Champs Elysees promenade.
True to its original involvement with art andyoung talents, the store is filled with light/videoimages, metal constructions and surprises suchas the pitch black soundless elevator you will getto experience, while on your way to the 7 th floorart gallery overlooking all of Paris.
The original trunks from 150 years ago are ondisplay alongside their modern versions. In fact,it is not only a Parisian promenade, a wellthought out itinerary for your shopping needs, butalso a promenade through history.
A special Eiffel Tower diamond studded watch isavailable at the store for this occasion.
There is actually everything from bags, accessories, a special orders section, men’s andwomen’s fashions and jewelry, but the center ofthe store is a “sanctuary”, a monumentalconstruction of mirrors and metal spikessuspended from the soaring ceiling with astunning play on light, beneath which you willfind the brand’s most prestigious products;trunks.
VIP and private rooms are available forshoppers, a bag bar, and even a bookshop. It isa state-of-the-art masterpiece of architecture andinnovative ideas catering to any luxuriousshoppers’ decadent whim. Yes, they spoil yourotten!
After this happening, the VIP’s hurried on to thePetit Palais where the Louis Vuitton show washeld at 8 pm. This season Mark Jacobsshowcased brave and bright solid and retrocolors with bold 60’s shapes and fabrics. Whiteand gold were also on the menu. Structured and well-engineered garments left the model’s interminable legsbare for a little softness, and the stars gaping with desire. Straight after the show, an after party was held…oneof the highlights was Dita Von Teese dancing in Champagne!
Nothing like a little decadence to end a week of madness.
