session 2012/2013.
Opportunities outwith School for Senior Phase 2012/2013
Please note that all of the courses in this booklet are subject to
change or cancellation depending on interest
The booklet should be used when discussing course choices
with targeted young people only and should not be out on gen-
eral distribution
All young people must complete a paper application form and
have a parental consent form signed, in line with the deadlines
outlined overleaf. These forms will be available to school staff
by 12th March
Staff must fill out an e-referral form for every young person.
These will be issued via email on 12th March
Staff making referrals should ensure they have read the criteria
table issued with this booklet
If a young person is put forward for and is accepted to a
course, school staff must keep in regular contact with a named
person from the course being delivered.
It will be the school’s responsibility to give a named member
of staff to each of the course providers to whom attendance,
behaviour issues—and importantly—positive developments
with young people will be reported
It is expected that other subject teachers are made aware that
the young people are on these courses and ask about them and
positively re-enforce the work the young people are doing out-
side the traditional school timetable
Any questions or queries should be directed to Jacqui McCrea

Inside you will find a number of vocational and employability
courses for you to apply to do next year while you are still at school.
All of the courses are designed to make it more likely for you to get
a job, training place, university place or college place.
All of the courses have a day and time written down but this might
change depending on how many people apply for the course
Any travel you have to do to get to the course will be paid by the
school.
If you want to apply, you will have to take time out of school to do
the course. When you are out of school you must remember that
you are representing the school and should present yourself
maturely.
All courses have limited places so you must complete an application
form and have a parental consent form signed. This form MUST be
in by 27th April.
All courses also have an interview but you will be helped through
this and it will be great experience for when you are looking for a
job.
If you are interested in any course, let your guidance teacher know
so that they can get you an application form for you to fill in and re-
ferral form for them to fill in.
