Patients want to help but VF tests are hard.
4
Two propositions for at-home testing
1. Patients don’t have distress because they miss targets, but because it’s hard to be a good test-taker.
2. There is no way to estimate 54 thresholds accurately in 7 minutes. In a lab study, 30 or more stimuli per location, which would take an hour.
VF test quality is largely a function of testing time: more data is better.

The effect of very high frequency testing
Even with only moderate test compliance, a rapid visual field loss of 2 dB in mean deviation (MD) per year can be detected after 0.9 years of weekly testing at home, as compared to 2.5 years for semiannual testing in the clinic.

● For N=55 patients (44 glau, 8 suspect, 3 healthy): 47 succeeded taking VVP in the clinic● Example: 52-year old male with moderate glaucoma (Pt of Yvonne Ou, UCSF)
○ 30 sessions (26 at home), March-August 2019○ Prototype (single-intensity) version of VVP using 24-2 test pattern
