1 、 Background

Under AMFIC framework, Air quality monitoring and forecasting in Shenyang, Cooperated by VITO 、 Shenyang Environmental Monitoring

Center.

2 、 Role of each partyVITO shall be responsible for the deliverance of expertise and the performance of •the project coordination•assistance and training of Shenyang with respect to the collection of the necessary input data for the model ; •air quality modelling•validation of the model outcome on the basis of the air quality measurement results as supplied by Shenyang •reporting to Shenyang and to the European Commission as required in the AMFIC project •VITO shall perform its activities in Mol (Belgium) and/or in China Shenyang Environmental Monitoring Center shall be responsible for:•participation in training session in view of data collection; •obtaining data on emission sources, meteorological data, data on population density, traffic, etc•collecting air quality measurement data •results evaluation and validation•assistance in results demonstration

4 、 Results

Using proxy data like population, land use and major roads, the E-MAP tool has been used to make emission maps for the Shenyang region. These emissions have been applied for the modeling of the air quality in and around Shenyang. The resulting air quality maps have been validated with the measurements which were available to us and it was shown that the model performes well. Afterwards, the effect of two scenarios on the air quality have been tested. These results can help the city of Shenyang in their decision making. Finally, some street level analyses of air quality for the inner city of Shenyang have been made.

5 、 Future plan

Through the project, SYEMC got good air quality prediction result, and hope to cooperate together in the future.
