It is official: fall is just around the corner! Fall is always one of our busiest times at Oak Forest and this year will be no exception. As we head into the autumn of this year, I would like to highlight some of the activities on this page throughout the fall months. For September, I would like to highlight our Fall Festival. The Fall Festival is the biggest activity that we take on as a church throughout the year. From our auction and dinner on Friday night, to our various sales inside and outside the church, to our Friday and Saturday festivities that include breakfast and lunch, it takes many, many individuals to pull it off. This year, we are excited to announce that we will also have a “Cruise In” on Saturday in front of the church on Saturday! More activities and more ministry means more chances for all of us to be involved. Last year, we were able to raise over $17,000 with well over a majority of that going to various missions and ministries outside of the church. It is big, it is awesome, and it can use your help! We are always in need of people that will volunteer for various things throughout the weekend. You will be getting more information over the next few weeks about the various opportunities, and I challenge each of us to become a part of the weekend. The reasons for being a part are many and varied, but one of the most important is that you can work with others to spread God’s love to many people that will be walking through our doors or on our lawns. If you are new to the church, or trying to find your niche, then this is a great opportunity to become indoctrinated to one of our biggest (and most fun) events of the year. This is a perfect opportunity to help your church, to serve God, and have fun. Even if it is just showing up for some of the events, I encourage you to be a part of our Fall Festival. What a wonderful way to kick off our fall…by giving of yourself in presence, in time, and in communion for our community, our church, and most importantly our God! Faithfully, Darren

School is in session, football is in the air, and the calendar is about to turn to September. It is official: fall is just

around the corner! Fall is always one of our busiest times at Oak Forest and this year will be no exception. As we head

into the autumn of this year, I would like to highlight some of the activities on this page throughout the fall months. For

September, I would like to highlight our Fall Festival.

The Fall Festival is the biggest activity that we take on as a church throughout the year. From our auction and

dinner on Friday night, to our various sales inside and outside the church, to our Friday and Saturday festivities that include

breakfast and lunch, it takes many, many individuals to pull it off. This year, we are excited to announce that we will also

have a “Cruise In” on Saturday in front of the church on Saturday! More activities and more ministry means more chances

for all of us to be involved. Last year, we were able to raise over $17,000 with well over a majority of that going to

various missions and ministries outside of the church. It is big, it is awesome, and it can use your help!

We are always in need of people that will volunteer for various things throughout the weekend. You will be getting

more information over the next few weeks about the various opportunities, and I challenge each of us to become a part of

the weekend. The reasons for being a part are many and varied, but one of the most important is that you can work with

others to spread God’s love to many people that will be walking through our doors or on our lawns. If you are new to the

church, or trying to find your niche, then this is a great opportunity to become indoctrinated to one of our biggest (and most

fun) events of the year.

This is a perfect opportunity to help your church, to serve God, and have fun. Even if it is just showing up for some

of the events, I encourage you to be a part of our Fall Festival. What a wonderful way to kick off our fall…by giving of

yourself in presence, in time, and in communion for our community, our church, and most importantly our God!

Faithfully,

Darren

The finance report for July 2015 is as follows: income from tithes and offering: $19,649.25. Income from other sources

such as building rental and etc: $0.00 for a total income of $19,649.25. Our expenses for the month were $17,400.46 for

a monthly cash flow of positive $2,248.79. Cash flow for the year 2015 stands at negative $186.22. Negative cash flow

is of concern to the Finance Committee. Seeds have been planted.

2015 Income/Expense

Building Fund Report: The current loan balance as of July 31 is $329,414.31. Total giving in July was $4,080.00. Total

payment on loan was $7,021.00. Cash on hand is $18,819.10. Through your support of giving to the Building Fund

(which is separate of the church budget) we are continuing to reduce our building debt. Everyone’s giving is appreciated.

The Middle School Summer Camp finished up their Community

Service Project. The MSP kids made 70 SHOES for Sole Hope

this summer!!! This way exceeds their goal! They also raised

$133.39 with the bake sale to donate to Sole Hope which will

go to pay African shoe makers or towards supplies. Thank you

to everyone who donated denim, plastic, or bought goods at the

bake sale! If you would like more info or ways to be involved

with Sole Hope throughout the year, check out their website at

A SPECIAL THANK YOU to the Oak Forest United Methodist

It is time to start thinking about our Fall Festival. The Fall Festival is our yearly church-wide

fundraiser. Mark your calendar. Our 2015 Fall Festival dates are Friday and Saturday Septem-

ber 25th and 26th.

Friday only activities include Country Ham dinner and live auction.

Friday and Saturday activities include yard sale, children’s toys and clothing, baked goods,

chicken pies, general store (canned goods, fresh produce, etc.), silent auction.

Saturday only activities include breakfast and lunch, cake walk, children’s activities and

Cruise-in.

In order for our Fall Festival to be successful, we need everyone’s help. If you are

willing to help, we have a place for you. Here are a few suggestions:

Clean out your attic or garage and donate those unwanted slightly used items to our yard

sale. Please no adult clothing.

Donate items for silent and /or live auction.

Baked goods.

Items for country store – homemade jams, jellies, pickles, fresh produce, etc.

Volunteer to work – yard sale, country store/baked goods, children’s room, games.

Friday night dinner, Saturday’s breakfast, lunch, cake walk, cruise-in, set up

during week of September 21st - 24th and cleanup Saturday afternoon.

If you have any questions, please call Linda Anthony @764-1861, Judy Clodfelter

@764-2814 or the church office @ 764-2949. Watch the weekly bulletins for more

information.

Come enjoy the weekend with us at Oak Forest UMC. Proceeds from our Fall Festival will let

us continue our mission outreach in the community, reduce the debt on our building and help

with other church related projects. Last year over 60% of our proceeds were given to such mis-

sion projects as Crisis Ministries, Davidson Medical Ministries, Empty stocking fund, Hospice

of Davidson County, Rupert Bell Park, Salvation Army and our Helping Hands fund.
