Introduction to the logoThe Office of Financial Readiness resides under the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (Force Education and Training). The Office of Financial Readiness will create policy and continue to pave the way for resources, education and support to Service members and their families to create a financially secure and mission-ready force.

The four multi-color, round-corner boxed icon set combined with all capital letter text set in Roboto Slab Bold is the official logo. Proper use of the logo and how it is combined with other graphic elements is described on the following pages.

A safe area around the logo will ensure visibility and impact. As illustrated, the minimum safe area measures 1/8 width and 1/4 the height of logo.

Use the safe area between the logo and other graphic elements, such as type, images and other logos, to ensure it retains a strong presence wherever it appears. Where possible, allow even more space around the logo.

The logo is provided in different formats. Please use the appropriate format for application. If the wrong format is used, the logo can become pixelated if enlarged beyond its original dimensions. For legibility, the minimum acceptable dimension is 100 pixels wide at 72 pixels per inch.

Logo usageIdeally, the logo should be used on light backgrounds.

Using the official logo should always be a priority. Logo with wordmark detached and wordmark alone should only be used as a last resort.

BRAND USE FOR SERVICESThese two versions lack the words, “OFFICE OF” for the military services to use in conjunction with their individual branding.

Incorrect use of the Office of Financial Readiness logo can compromise its integrity and effectiveness. To ensure accurate and consistent reproduction of the logo, always use the approved digital artwork. Never alter, add to or recreate the logo.

1. Do not reconfigure or change the size and placement of the logo.

2. Do not stretch or squeeze the logo to distort proportions.

3. Do not crop the logo.

4. Do not add a drop shadow to the logo.

5. Do not change the logo colors.

6. Do not place the logo on a dark background.

7. Do not place the logo on a neon or brightly colored background.

8. Do not place the logo on a busy photograph or background.

The primary Office of Financial Readiness color palette consists of dark blue, yellow/orange, dark gray and bright green with secondary accents of warm brown, light tan and light green.

The Office of Financial Readiness colors are equivalent to the Pantone® numbers listed here. For four-color process printing, use the cyan-magenta-yellow-black — CMYK — values. For on-screen applications, such as video or broadcasts, use the red-green-blue — RGB — values. For web applications, refer to the hexadecimal — HEX — values associated with each color.

Icons and textures

ICONSIcons from the logo can be used individually for visual impact of a topic. Icons should be colored with the designated brand color palette or black or white. All parts of the icon should appear in one color not multi-colored. Icons should not be used on busy backgrounds. Here are financial themes associated with the logo icons. Shield with lock: protect, security Bar chart: future planning, growth Coins: save, invest, but also spend Target: manage, focus

Other secondary vector objects can be used for emphasis. Ideally, the flag should meet up with an edge or object. Use the diagonal repeating forward-hash line pattern for consistency when the diagonal line texture is not used.

TEXTURESUse subtle color backgrounds to change the mood or add interest. Use the Guilloche pattern sparingly for more serious topics. Use all patterns in a subtle manner.

TypographyThe Office of Financial Readiness brand uses two primary typefaces. They are Roboto Slab and Roboto. The following three pages display the fonts that may be used.

The Office of Financial Readiness wordmark uses Roboto Slab.

When Roboto is not available, Calibri should be used. When Roboto Slab is not available, Georgia should be used.

Tone and style of photographyA feature of the Office of Financial Readiness is the use of authentic military photography and photos of the financial-related textures. This ensures the quick recognition of financial topics and military engagement.

The images should be fun in order to engage users, but serious too, in respect to the subject matter. Photography should be seen as casual so it doesn’t intimidate, but formal enough to communicate the official nature of the Office of Financial Readiness.

Specific word associations include: finance, patriotic, friendly, clean, simple, official, trusted, progressive, bright and inviting.

Standby Reserve members who enter paid status after 2018 will receive a one-time BRS opt-in extension.^» Once in a paid status, your spouse has

30 days to opt into the BRS.
