Visiting ZooAmerica

ZooAmerica is in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

On Saturday, January 25, I am visiting a new place called ZooAmerica®, North American Wildlife Park. Visiting a new place could feel scary. It helps me feel prepared to know what I can expect.

ZooAmerica is a place where I could learn about animals native to the continent of North America.

I am going to ZooAmerica because it is fun to learn more about North American animals. I am going toZooAmerica because there are things I like to do. When I am at ZooAmerica, I will see a lot of different things. I will see a lot of people.

Some of the people are visiting like me.

ZooAmerica

Day

It will be noisy because of all the people that are visiting.

When I am atZooAmerica, I will smell animals native to the Southern Swamps and Southwest.

When I am atZooAmerica, I will hear a lot of different things like people talking, babies crying, and kids yelling.

To avoid getting hungry while I am visiting the zoo, it may be a good idea to pack a lunch or a snack. I can also visit some local restaurants in Hershey.

Some buildings will be dark.

I might see colored lights. It is okay that not all lights are the same.

If I feel nervous upon entering the zoo, I can borrow a calming sensory bag with several items that may assist me if I am feeling nervous, scared, or wiggly.

I will see different kinds of lights.Some buildings will be really bright.

ZooAmerica

Day

When I am atZooAmerica, I could do a lot of things. I could walk around. I could sit down. I could measure my wingspan at the eagle exhibit and my height at the bear den.

Some things atZooAmerica cost money and some do not. If I find something I want at the gift shop, this will cost money.

There will be things that are not okay for me to touch, such as birds and mammals.

I stay safe when I follow the rules. Because it is crowded at ZooAmerica, I might feel some people accidentally bump into me. If someoneaccidentally bumps into me, I could say “excuse me”.

There will be someanimal biofacts such as fur, feathers, and scaled skin.

There will also be a few Education animals out that can be touched with the Zoo Educator’s permission.

When I am atZooAmerica, there will be lots of things to touch, like railings, chairs, and souvenirs.

There will also be quiet rooms with objects to touch like sensorybottles, books, and stuffed animals.
