Temple News MONTHLY NEWSLETTER OF SOLOMON’S TEMPLE
APRIL 2012
VOLUME 4 - ISSUE 4
You Have Resurrection Power Acts 4:13 Now when they saw the boldness
of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
Just a few weeks prior to this
incident, the disciples were trembling for
their lives as their Lord was arrested and
then crucified. They had all fled in the
Garden of Gethsemane and then Peter,
whose boldness was legendary, had denied
him three times. The fact that they had
been serving with Jesus for three years,
witnessing many miracles, including Peter's
amazing walk on the water, apparently did
not inspire the necessary courage to watch
for an hour or to stick with Him to the
end. Perhaps the miraculous had become
a bit commonplace for them, so that when
the threat to Jesus came full force, they
floundered and failed miserably.
What happened that changed
their state of being so dramatically in this
encounter with the Jewish leaders? I
believe it was two things: one, that they had
seen their Lord resurrected from the dead,
and two, that they were now filled with that
resurrection life and power themselves, by
the Holy Spirit. The power of the
resurrection was within and upon them!
The reality and security of God's
indwelling Presence and power, and His
words “Be not afraid of them that kill the
body, and after that have no more that they
can do”, inspired a boldness far beyond
any merely human courage.
This boldness amazed the Sadducees and
Pharisees who despised Peter and John as
"unlearned and ignorant" men. They
marveled at the unabashed fearlessness of
the apostles whose knowledge was of a
different and superior kind: the knowledge
of their RISEN and RESURRECTED
Lord. And then they noted, that these men
had been with Jesus!
This power is yours, and it is mine, if we
continue to be filled with the Holy Spirit,
not quenching or grieving Him. We, too,
will confound and amaze the "authorities"
of our day with the holy boldness of
resurrection life, and though they may
despise our humble circumstances, they
also will take note that, "we have been with
Jesus".
Dr. K. D. Shivers, Pastor
Minister E. R. Shivers, Leading Lady
As human beings, we are constantly
confronted with opportunities to fear.
People have fears concerning their health,
their finances, terrorism, relationships,
their jobs…the list is almost endless. I want
to challenge you with a thought today, and
it is simply this: Realize who you are. If
you are born again, you are a new creature
in Christ Jesus, and it is not in your nature
to be afraid. When you understand your
true nature, that you are made after the
image of God, you will know freedom from
fear. I want to challenge you today to listen
to your spirit instead of your head. The
real you on the inside is made after the
image of God. Once you realize who you
are and what you are made of, it will help
deliver you from fear. Consider these
verses that talk about the real you:
Ephesians 4:24; 2 Corinthians 5:17; and 2
Timothy 1:7

Solomon’s Temple Mission Statement:
The purpose of the Solomon’s Temple ministry is to
be a connecting force for people to discover God
through His word so they in turn may discover their
purpose in His kingdom.

Points to Ponder Don't pray when you feel like it. Have
an appointment with the Lord and
keep it. A man is powerful on his
knees.
- Corrie Ten Boom -
The beginning of anxiety is the end of
faith, and the beginning of true faith is
the end of anxiety.
- George Muller -
All heaven is interested in the cross of
Christ, all hell terribly afraid of it,
while men are the only beings who
more or less ignore its meaning.
- Iowa Chambers -
Mark 14:36 He said,"Abba, Father,
for you all things are possible; remove
this cup from me; yet, not what I
want, but what you want."
Gethsemane is where He died; the
cross is only the evidence.
- Leonard Ravenhill –
Jesus died praying. His last words
were words of prayer. The habit of
life was strong in death. It may seem
far off; but this event will come to us
also. What will our last words be?
Who can tell? But would it not be
beautiful if our spirit were so steeped
in the habit of prayer that the language
of prayer came naturally to us at the
last?
- James Stalker -
We also want to know
about those who have made the
honor roll. Let’s not forget
baby announcements, bible
humor, or recipes.
If you have a story or idea
that you would like to
incorporate into the newsletter,
forward the story to
[email protected] or leave
the idea on the secretary’s desk.
Do you know someone
who is doing great things in the
community, school, or church?
Nominate them to be the
Outstanding Disciple of the
Month. This person can be a
youth or an adult.
Don’t forget to recognize
those celebrating an
anniversary, graduation (from
high school, college, or any
other), or special occasion.

Who Made the Sun Shine?
His resources over which you are Let’s look at Luke 12:16-21,
Then He spoke a parable to them, saying: "The ground of a certain
rich man yielded plentifully. And he thought within himself, saying,
‘What shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops?' So he said,
‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I
will store all my crops and my goods. And I will say to my soul, "Soul,
you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat,
drink, and be merry."' But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your
soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you
have provided?' So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not
rich toward God."
Take a look at the few words that this man spoke. In his short
declaration, he uses the word I six times and the word my five times!
His perspective was a very selfish one.
Here are a few questions to ponder:
· Who gave the rain that made his crops grow?
· Who made the soil out of which his crops grew?
· Who made the seed he planted?
· Who caused the sun to shine?
· Who gave him the physical strength to work the field?
· Who gave him his soul?
The answer to all of those is God. Yet he makes no acknowledgement
of God in his speech, planning, or giving. He should have been
thanking God for all His blessings and asking the Lord what He wanted
done with His things.
Be faithful to acknowledge God and to ask Him what to do with a
steward. Remember this month to be thankful for all that God has given
even for the things that don’t seem as important. Take some time to
thank God for giving us His best. . . Jesus Christ!
