welcome to the 8th harleston and waveney Art trail

Once again we invite you to visit Artists' Studios in the charming Waveney Valley, in its thriving market towns of Harleston and Bungay, and the surrounding villages. You can see work in drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, garden design, textiles and photography, and meet the people who make the work in their studios and workshops, often also in their homes and gardens. Since the Art Trail began we have regularly received between three and five thousand visits over the three week-ends. An added attraction this year is the Prize Draw (see below opposite).

Our aim from the start has been to present serious professional artists, in as wide a list of areas as we can encompass, to make them and their work better known, and to increase a fruitful dialogue between artists and their public. According to our practice, Trail artists may stand back from opening for one year in three. But those not exhibiting in any year are still fully active, and available to sell work or take commissions. Artists taking a sabbatical this year are listed in the brochure, along with their contact details.

The Taster exhibition with samples of everyone's work is, as always, at the Harleston Gallery, from 19 June. Larger works will be on show in a new venue, the impressively ancient and modern Pennoyers Building at Pulham St Mary (see www.pennoyers.co.uk). This is their first major exhibition, and will run from Sat 23 June to Tues 10 July. Pennoyers is open week- days from 9am to 4.30pm, and on Saturday to 4pm, closed Sundays. The Cork Brick Gallery in Bungay, unable to show Trail work this year, regularly exhibits work by Trail artists. www.hwat.org.uk

I paint mostly on silk using the natural world as my inspiration. By exploring the way dyes blend and interact on the silk; rich, vibrant colour is achieved, resulting in either pictures or beautiful hand painted scarves. Recently I have started exploring landscapes in acrylics.
