A Guide to the 24th Annual DOOR COUNTY
LIGHTHOUSE FESTIVALJune 9 - 11, 2017
Info on Land & Boat Tours, Lodging & Dining
Tickets available: April 3rd(Member sale begins March 20)
Greetings! Let’s celebrate one of the largest collections of
lighthouses on the Great Lakes! The Door County Lighthouse Map is
a useful tool in finding and researchingDoor County’s remarkable maritimelights. It is also the official guide to the
24th annual Door County Lighthouse Festival. This year’s event begins Friday, June 9, and will continuethrough Sunday, June 11, with a wide assortment of tours, bothland-based and by boat. Many of the tours are unique to this one weekend each year soif you haven’t visited Plum Island, Chamber’s Island, taken ourone-of-a-kind trip to Rock Island or tried an amazing schoonervoyage this is your chance. The evening dessert cruises on theChicago Fireboat have also proven to be very popular. But, as youmight expect, these rare opportunities can sell out quickly. Museum members get first crack at the tickets with sales begin-ning Monday, March 20. You might want to consider a museummembership to get a spot at the front of the line. The public salegets underway on Monday, April 3. Feel free to call the DoorCounty Maritime Museum at (920)743-5958 to order tickets orpurchase them online at www.dcmm.org. As you can see from this map, the festival enjoys plenty of com-munity support and we ask that during your stay you considersupporting the many dining, lodging and tour partners who helpto make this event possible. Don’t forget to visit all three of our museum locations in GillsRock, Sturgeon Bay and Cana Island. We want to publicly thank artist Christopher Arndt for provid-ing the cover artwork for this brochure. This image of Cana Islandis an excellent example of Arndt’s trademark photo-painting style.Learn more about Arndt and his love for capturing the beauty ofDoor County's back roads, quaint villages and picturesque bluffshores at www.doorcountyimages.com. The DC Maritime Museum will again be conducting its Lighthouse Photo Contest in conjunction with the festival. Please visit our website (www.dcmm.org) for information regarding the contest.
The Door County Maritime Museum is very gratefulfor the U.S. Coast Guard’s assistance in making the Door County Lighthouse Festival such a success.
If you happen to pick up this brochure after the festival, please note that many of the same tours will be offered next
year so keep it and consider participating in 2018. The Museum also launched an abbreviated fall tour in 2015
and is in the process of organizing another for 2017. Please check the museum website at www.dcmm.org for
up-to-date information as it becomes availableMuseum Staff & Volunteers
