Vision Project

November 2011Caitlin

Page 2: Vision Project

So, I’m pretty much an average 18-year-old..

Page 3: Vision Project

I’m not very good at this whole powerpoint thing,

Page 4: Vision Project

I love spending time with my friends,

Page 5: Vision Project

listening to music,

Page 6: Vision Project

and spending way too much time on Facebook, Twitter, and watching MTV

Page 7: Vision Project

I love Disney movies, Starbucks, Criminal Minds, and I actually like

reading…

Page 8: Vision Project

…I re-read the Harry Potter books every Christmas (even though I should have grown out of that ages ago)

Page 9: Vision Project

I played rugby in high school, but I’m not really the sports-playing type (we did make it to the 2009 provincials, though!)

Page 10: Vision Project

Some of my biggest accomplishments are:Graduating from high school and getting into college,

Page 11: Vision Project

Saving enough money to go to Europe in 2010 with my high school…

Page 12: Vision Project

And China in 2011

Page 13: Vision Project

I’m an extremely organized, goal-oriented person. I’m pretty decent at math, and I like to think I work well with

other people

Page 14: Vision Project

Because of these things, my strongest Holland groups were Conventional, Social, and Investigative

Page 15: Vision Project

This basically says that I learn best when presented with concrete steps and facts that I can write down, and when I am given the

opportunity to learn by doing as well as observing.

Page 16: Vision Project

I think I would best suit a job where I could work both independently and with others, indoors with stable daytime work

hours.

Page 17: Vision Project

Because of all these things, and the fact that I think I would fit well in an office setting, I think I would make a pretty decent

accountant.

Page 18: Vision Project

It’s a stable job that’s always in demand, and involves working both independently and with coworkers and clients. The fact that I’m organized and good at math doesn’t hurt,

either.

Page 19: Vision Project

Since accountants are needed for every business, they are always in demand. The average salary for a full-time accountant is $66,000 a year, which is not bad

at all!

Page 20: Vision Project

Becoming an accountant is a lot of work, though.

Page 21: Vision Project

Through BCIT or SFU it takes at least 4 years to get a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting, and that’s just the start.

Page 22: Vision Project

After the Bachelors degree, I will have to complete a training program that has been approved by the Society of Certified General Accountants, which involves several years of on-the-job training. Only after doing all this

(so at least 6 years later), will I become officially certified as a CGA… It’ll eventually be worth it

Page 23: Vision Project

Wherever I end up in the future, the most important

thing to me is that I stay close to my family…

Page 24: Vision Project

…and my best friend, who are the most important people in my life

Page 25: Vision Project

I’m hoping to attend BCIT starting September 2012

Page 26: Vision Project

and find a decent-paying job to support me through college (being supervisor at Dairy Queen isn’t exactly cutting it).

Page 27: Vision Project

In the years to come I hope to become a successful and independent person, who’s financially stable with a great social life. Even though

that’s pretty far down the line, I think I’ve got a fairly good start.

the end.
