Juneau:The City and Borough of Juneau is the capitalcity of Alaska. It is a unified municipality locatedon the Gastineau Channel in the Alaskanpanhandle, and it is the second largest city inthe United States by area. Juneau has been thecapital of Alaska since 1906, when thegovernment of what was then the District ofAlaska was moved from Sitka as dictated by theU.S. Congress in 1900. The municipality unifiedon July 1, 1970, when the city of Juneau mergedwith the city of Douglas and the surroundingGreater Juneau Borough to form the currentmunicipality, which is larger by area than bothRhode Island and Delaware.

Skagway:Skagway is a first-class borough in Alaska onthe Alaska Panhandle. As of the 2010 census,the population was 920. Estimates put the 2014population at 1,012 people. The populationdoubles in the summer tourist season in orderto deal with more than 900,000 visitors. It wasformerly a city first incorporated in 1900 thatwas re-incorporated as a borough on June 25,2007.

Ketchikan:Ketchikan is a city in the Ketchikan GatewayBorough, Alaska, United States, the

southeastern most city in Alaska. With apopulation at the 2010 census of 8,050, it is thesixth-most populous city in the state, and tenth-most populous community whencensus-designated places are included. Thesurrounding borough, encompassing suburbsboth north and south of the city along theTongass Highway, plus small rural settlementsaccessible mostly by water, registered apopulation of 13,477 in that same census.Estimates put the 2014 population at 13,787people. Incorporated on August 25, 1900,Ketchikan is presently the earliest incorporatedcity in Alaska, owing to consolidation orunification elsewhere in Alaska resulting indissolution of those communities' citygovernments. Ketchikan is located onRevillagigedo Island, so named in 1793 byCaptain George Vancouver.

Glacier Bay:Glacier Bay is a United States national park andpreserve in the Alaska panhandle west ofJuneau. President Calvin Coolidge proclaimedthe area around Glacier Bay a nationalmonument under the Antiquities Act onFebruary 25, 1925. Subsequent to an expansionof the monument by President Jimmy Carter in1978, the Alaska National Interest LandsConservation Act enlarged the nationalmonument by 523,000 acres on December 2,1980 and in the process created Glacier BayNational Park and Preserve, with 57,000additional acres of public land designated asnational preserve to the immediate northwestof the park in order to protect a portion of theAlsek River and related fish and wildlife habitatswhile allowing sport hunting.

Inside Passage:The Inside Passage is a coastal route foroceangoing vessels along a network ofpassages which weave through the islands onthe Pacific coast of North America. The routeextends from southeastern Alaska, in the UnitedStates, through western British Columbia, inCanada, to northwestern Washington State, inthe United States. Ships using the route canavoid some of the bad weather in the openocean and may visit some of the many isolatedcommunities along the route. The InsidePassage is heavily travelled by cruise ships,freighters, tugs with tows, fishing craft andships of the Alaska Marine Highway, BC Ferries,and Washington State Ferries systems.

Icy Strait Point:Icy Strait Point is a privately owned touristdestination just outside the small village ofHoonah, Alaska. It is located on ChichagofIsland and is named after the nearby Icy Strait.Owned by Huna Totem Corporation, it is theonly privately owned cruise destination inAlaska, as most stops are owned by the cities inwhich they are located. Huna TotemCorporation is owned by approximately 1,350Alaskan Natives with aboriginal ties to Hoonahand the Glacier Bay area. Many of them are ofthe Tlingit people.

Jasper:Jasper is a small, friendly and sustainablecommunity set in the natural splendor of thelargest national park in the Rocky Mountains.Amid the snow-capped Canadian Rockies, thepark has abundant wildlife, glacier-fed lakes,forests and rivers

Lake Louise:Lake Louise has become symbolic of thequintessentially Canadian mountain scene. Thisalpine lake, known for its sparkling blue waters,is situated at the base of impressive glacier-cladpeaks that have long been at the heart ofCanadian mountaineering. At about 2.5kilometers long and 90 meters deep, the lakeoffers a surreal paddling experience in thewarm summer months and one of the mostscenic skating rinks in the world in winter.

What speed does the train travel?The advantage of our train is that we are ableto slow down at the most scenic areas to offeryou picture perfect moments and the bestcamera photographic opportunities. While thereare areas the train reaches up to 90kph(60mph), our average speed is approximately 50kph (30mph).

5. What happens with my luggage?Your luggage will be delivered to your overnightaccommodation in Kamloops, Whistler orQuesnel. Checked luggage will not be availableonboard the train.

6. What will the weather be like and whatshould I pack?In Alberta, British Columbia, and WashingtonState, temperatures vary significantly dependingon location, time of day, and season. Summertemperatures range from a low of 10°C (50°F) toa high of 40°C (104°F). Kamloops, in particular,may be very warm in the summer, while in thealpine regions, weather can changedramatically in a short time. Plan to bring asweater, trousers, and a light topcoat orraincoat, as well as lightweight summer wear.Due to the natural movement of the train, flat-soled shoes are recommended. For yourcomfort, our coaches are air conditioned andlayers of clothing are suggested as thetemperature may fluctuate on the trainthroughout the day.

7. Do your facilities accommodate peoplewith special needs and/or disabilities?Rocky Mountaineer will make every effort tomeet any special needs, including therequirements of our disabled guests. Some ofthe Rocky Mountaineer coaches are wheelchairaccessible. GoldLeaf Dome Coaches haveelevators for guests who have problems usingthe spiral staircase. Please inform us at the timeof booking if any assistance is required.

8. What wildlife will I see?There are wonderful opportunities for viewingwildlife from the train and during your stay inCanada's West, including bear, elk, deer, moose,bald eagles, osprey, salmon, mountain goatsand bighorn sheep. However, “wildlife are wild”and as such, sightings are never guaranteed. Ifyou do come into contact with animals pleaseact responsibly, maintain a safe distance andnever feed any wild animals.

9. What is the protocol concerning gratuitiesfor On-board Hosts?In North America, gratuities are often given inrecognition of service excellence. Gratuities arenot included in prices for Rocky MountaineerHosts, driver guides, tour escorts or hotelporters.

The following is provided to assist you, but weleave the decision to provide a gratuity forRocky Mountaineer Hosts entirely at yourdiscretion:
