<ul><li><p>7/28/2019 Vision 2020 - 2013 Planning Retreat - Meeting Notes</p><p> 1/6</p><p>1 | P a g e </p><p>Vision 2020</p><p>Vision 2020 Planning Retreat</p><p>Friday, March 22, 2013</p><p>9 am until 1:30 pm</p><p>MAOF Offices</p><p>Meeting Notes</p><p>Mission of Vision 2020</p><p>A social movement to address the underlying causes of poverty in the Greater East Los Angeles</p><p>Community through building collaborations amongst all stakeholder groups.</p><p>Proposed Vision Statement</p><p>In 2020, East Los Angeles will significantly improve its social, economic and political influence</p><p>resulting in greater educational opportunities, a thriving business environment and a safe and</p><p>healthy community.</p><p>Questions and suggestion raised in discussion:</p><p> For whom Replace social and economic with socio economic? Need to develop a Values section to accompany the vision</p><p>Next steps:</p><p>Martin will review and revise statement. He will present proposed vision statement to group at</p><p>next meeting. Health Care2. Education3. Economic and Workforce Development4. Civic Engagement</p><p>The following participants agreed to lead the discussion in each of the four areas:</p><p>1. Vanessa Health Care2. Martin Education3. Linda Economic and Workforce Development4. Juan Civic Engagement</p><p>Three Year Goal Development Exercise for 2016</p><p>Health Care</p><p>1. Create an integrated network of care through the Eastside Health Alliance to improve accessto services</p><p>2. Every school will have monthly access to wellness services and education for childrenand families*</p><p>3. Access to healthcare providers for undocumented families through advocacy and outreachEducation</p><p>1. To increase access to Early Childhood Education opportunities by 10%.*2. To promote and support 3rd grade level reading, writing and math.3. Promote retention in high school.4.</p><p>To increase college graduation rates through supportive resources5. To offer support for the continuation of Adult Education</p><p>Economic and Workforce Development</p><p>1. To create strategic partnerships with businesses and educational institutions inorder to promote student internships.*</p><p>2. To help small businesses to expand, remodel or re-construct.3. To have training for current and aspiring entrepreneurs to build and grow businesses (i.e.</p><p>one target population could be immigrants).</p><p>Civic Engagement</p><p>1. To increase voter registration and participation for 2016 elections by 25%2. Promote and support immigration reform and path to legal status by providing</p><p>resources including education and financial*</p><p>3. Provide town hall opportunities on civic engagement4. Each team should begin asset mapping as it relates to their goal.</p><p>Group Structure Discussion</p><p>1. Basic MOU should be developed2. A tiered level of financial commitment should be proposed3. Who has voting privileges should be determined4. Who will be lead fiscal agent5. Come to agreement on geographic boundaries - it was suggested to serve unincorporated</p><p>East Los Angeles.</p><p>Next steps: Ritchie will develop a proposal for consideration and discussion at the nextmeeting.
