(ICAM-ASD 2016) – 6th-7th October, 2016 The International Conference on Advanced and Agile Manufacturing and Agile Software
Development (ICAM-ASD) – 2016 was conducted at SGGSIE&T, Nanded during 6th
to 7th
October, 2016. Inaugural function was held in the presence of Hon. Dr. P. B. Vidyasagar
(Vice-Chancellor, SRTM University, Nanded), Hon. Shri. Milind Pohnerkar and Hon. Shri
Trilok Singh Jabbenda (both BOM of SGGSIE&T, Nanded) Prof. S. Ganesan (Oakland
University, USA) and Prof. K. Narasimhan (IIT, Bombay), Dr. L.M. Waghmare (Director,
SGGSIE&T, Nanded) by lighting lamp and Saraswati vandana. Dr. V. M. Nandedkar,
Convenor, ICAM-ASD 2016 elaborated the theme and concept of conference and added that
the Institute provides stimulating venue for discussing the latest advances in Agile
Manufacturing Methods and Business Processes. Each session of conference have a plenary
session to be addressed by eminent persons and researchers in the field, which are beneficial
to all for researchers.

This conference provides an excellent opportunity for delegates to exchange ideas on advanced and agile methods from the design,
manufacturing and business process perspectives, for industrial practitioners, academic researchers, engineering and business
graduate students in this field.
Prof. Subramaniam Ganesan (Oakland University, USA) in inaugural address explained the need of a convergence of industry best
practices, manufacturing technology, data capture, data mining and the cloud platform to reduce Manufacturing inefficiency.
Identifying the key causes of inefficiency in a manufacturing plant is an important step towards eliminating process bottlenecks.
Networked Sensors, Embedded Systems and information technology solutions play a crucial role in measuring critical parameters
and Data mining of causal relationships. Crucial Time and Opportunity could be lost in deploying such solutions. The challenges are
how to rapidly interconnect disparate 'multiple generations' of sensors and embedded systems and at the same time reliably feed the
data to the Enterprise Cloud.
An overwhelming response by audience to the conference
Prof. K. Narasimhan (IIT, Bombay) in his keynote address focus the need of Agile Manufacturing Technologies for Automotive
Light Weighting. He explained the use of Advanced High Strength Steels, Hydroforming, Tailor Welded Blanks and Hot Stamping
are examples of materials and processes that facilitate manufacturing of lighter cars. The traditional trial and error approach of
manufacturing process development and optimization are not suitable in today’s world of agile manufacturing. Keynote talk on
importance of sustainable and renewable energy innovation technology, policies and practices in global arena was delivered by Dr.
Deepak L. Waikar (Managing Partner, EduEnergy Consultants LLP, The Republic of Singapore). Advanced manufacturing
technologies and processes require considerably more energy and consequently produce higher greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore,
polices, framework and funding mechanisms have to be put in place for promoting sustainable as well as disruptive technology
innovations in adaptation of energy efficiency, energy conservation and renewable energy.

After keynote addresses, paper presentation of delegates from different industries, academic institutes and research scholar was held
parallel in four sessions. Each session was chaired and co-chaired by subject experts. In this four parallel session, total papers were
17 presented. Second session of keynote address was held from 15.20 to 18.30. In this session along with academician, industrial
experts brief the need and importance of agile manufacturing and agile software development.
Dr. V. M. Nandedkar, Convener, briefed about the conference
Mr. D. N. Dharurkar (MD, NAC Group, Aurangabad) mentioned gaps in industrial practices and theories. He has committed to
continually improve automotive products and process to meet requirements of their customers as early as possible. Hence alignment
between theory and practice is needed. Mr. Deodatta Tembhekar (Sr. Associate Vice-President, TIMF, Pune) noted the challenges of
Agile Manufacturing in India. With the launch of “Make in India” government of India is encouraging many global giants to make
India their manufacturing hub for worldwide distribution. This means, we have to set up the facilities to manufacture the products at
global scales. Besides this, the manufacturing facility needs to be flexible to accommodate changing business needs.
Prof. D. R. Peshwe (VNIT, Nagpur) introduce to Cryogenic Treatment on Polymers, Composites and Blends. The development of
new materials is driven by the increasing demand of better quality products, greater efficiency, increased service life and stringent
reliability requirements. Globally the material sector has witnessed significant growth of polymers. Polymers, polymer blends and
polymer composites have become a viable alternative for traditional materials such as steel or metals. Polymer performances are
enhanced using nano fillers, they are still prone to high wear and abrasion. The increasing use of these composites in aerospace and
automobile applications, demands for more understanding about their structure and the mechanisms involved in their enhanced
properties. It is expected that similar to other polymer composite systems, cryo-treating the CNT-polymer nano-composites may
enhance their performance.

Prof. P. M. Padole (VNIT, Nagpur) and Prof. Ajay Likhite ((VNIT, Nagpur) had demonstrated the applications of advanced
engineering techniques to biological systems. The study of human body and biological system is very complex. However, using
numerical methods like FEM, CFD etc., biological system can be studied with assumptions close to physical scenario. It can further
help the doctors in various decisions making and other difficulties which they face in clinical work. The modelling and simulation of
biological system can help the doctors and surgeons for better understanding of the problems as well as for carrying out mock
procedures.

Prof. G. N. Tiwari (IIT, Delhi) had demonstrated application of solar system for Water Purification. Solar distillation is a simple and
effective process of producing potable water from the filthy or contaminated saline water (feed water). It is just a duplicate copy of
hydrological process (or water cycle). The water in distiller (still) receives energy from the solar radiation and utilizes it to trigger the
evaporation. The solar still function is very easy and requires solar still facing towards solar noon e.g., towards south in case of single
slope and east-west in case of double slope solar still. The mechanism of condensation takes place so that potable water vapors drips
down on the one end of inner surface of transparent glass and collected there. This process eliminates contaminated salts, impurities
e.g. heavy metals, and other microscopic organisms (waterborne diseases) which infects human health and leads to diarrhea, fever

Day 2 began with third keynote address session. In this session, Prof. S. S. Joshi (IIT, Bombay) shows the use of flexure-based
devices. Flexure-based devices have potential to cater to several handling requirements encountered during micro-fabrication as well
as micro-assembly domains, such as movement of cutting tools and micro-objects for assembly. Prof. P. P. Date (IIT, Bombay) had
described Light-weighting Technology and its effect in automotive sector. Agile manufacturing is needed for individualized
manufacture as opposed to mass manufacture. Light-weighting has implications on agile manufacturing. Manufacture of high quality
parts at low volumes economically is a creative challenge.
Prof. V. B. Khanapuri (NITIE, Mumbai) expressed his view through world class maintenance which is a key step towards agility. In a
highly dynamic business environment, agility in manufacturing will enhance the competitiveness of organizations. However, agility
has to be across the manufacturing value chain and achieving this would therefore require flexibility and responsiveness in strategies,
technologies, people and systems. New enabling technologies for agile manufacturing are highly demanding in terms better
performance and ensuring higher availability and reliability of the equipment. Over the years Maintenance systems have evolved
from reactive to proactive approaches and there is need to adopt holistic approach to be world class organizations.

Prof. Vivek Khanzode (NITIE, Mumbai) had made Comparison between lean and agile systems. It reveals that while obvious
differences exist between the two systems, common factors are present. Further, on a number of aspects, agile systems are placed one
step ahead on lean. In such aspects, implementation of lean as first step towards agile proves beneficial as the organization learns in
the process and is able to cope up with greater challenges. For example, lean systems are able to manage a fair degree of product
range while agile systems require capabilities to produce a much greater variety of products. This is not possible unless equipment
flexibility and quick changeover practices are pushed to their limits. Lean requires an organization to acquire both these capabilities
helps as a step towards being more agile. Similarly, in lean system especially cellular manufacturing), operators are multi-skilled,
while in an agile environment, greater skill diversity and entrepreneurial characteristics are required.

Prof. M. M. Akarte (NITIE, Mumbai) discussed why manufacturing is important and how a firm can look at the manufacturing for
creating a competitive advantage in the market. The manufacturing competitiveness (performance) in the market is given by: the
selection of compatible production system to meet the customer requirements in terms of qualifiers and winners, and operationalize
decisions and trade-offs in the selected production system in favor of the competitive priority.

scholar was held parallel in six sessions. Each session was chaired and co-chaired by subject experts. In this six parallel session, total
papers were 30 presented which was followed by panel discussion.
In Valedictory function, first three best papers were awarded to participants which was sponsored by ESI group, Pune and paper
presented certificates were distributed among participants.
On day 3, follow up Three parallel workshop were taken which was titled as Sheet Metal Forming Technology (52 participants),
Optimization Techniques (32 participants) and Non destructive testing (28 participants).

A three days workshop on “Training on Yokogawa DCS” during 8th
- 10th
October, 2016, was organized by Department of
Instrumentation Engineering at Shri Guru Gobind Singhji Institute of Engineering & Technology, Vishnupuri, Nanded, an
autonomous institute affiliated to the Government of Maharashtra state. The event was sponsored by Technical Education Quality
Improvement Program phase-II (TEQIP-II) of Government of India.
The workshop focused on practical aspect of role of DCS in Core Industries. The workshop was entirely planned and coordinated by
Mr. J. G. Parkhe. Experts for the workshop were Mr. Tushar Bhaskarwar, GK Control, Pune, Maharashtra. The main objective of the
workshop was to highlight the industrial expect of yokogawa DCS, study of yokogawa DCS and hands on training on yokogawa
DCS.
The inaugural function of the workshop was held at 09:00 AM on 8th
October, 2016. The inauguration accomplished in the presence
of the invited experts Mr. Tushar Bhaskarwar, Mr. J. G. Parkhe and Miss. S. N. Nandurkar. The inauguration was anchored by Ms.
Kalyani Aundhekar, Student from Department of Instrumentation Engineering.

The day 1 of workshop began on 8th
of October. The first session of the workshop was held from 9am to 10:30am this session
covered the topic “Use of DCS in Industry”. The second session was held from 11:00am to 1:00pm on “Introduction to
YOKOGAWA DCS” in this session the architecture of yokogawa DCS was covered. After this session a lunch break was held from
1pm to 2pm. The third session was held from 2pm to 4pm on “Basics of yokogawa DCS” in this session an introduction to yokogawa
software was given and I/O handing thought. The fourth session was held from 4:30pm to 6pm in this session hands on training was
given on yokogawa DCS software and I/O configuration.

The day 2 of the workshop was on 9th
of October, the first session of this day was held from 9am to 10:30am this session covered the
topic “Introduction to basic instructions in yokogawa DCS” was covered in which the Basic instruction and logic gates were thought.
The second session was held from 11:00am to 1:00pm on “Practical Session on Basic Instructions in yokogawa DCS” in this session
the students implemented all the basic function and implemented logic gates in yokogawa DCS. After this session a lunch break was
held from 1pm to 2pm. The third session was held from 2pm to 4pm on “Introduction to Graphic Drawing in yokogawa” in this
session introduction to graphic design in yokogawa software was given and various design parameters and functions were explained.
The fourth session was “Practical session on Graphic Drawing in yokogawa” from 4:30pm to 6pm in this session hands on training
was given on yokogawa DCS about how to create interactive graphic.

The day 3 of the workshop was on 10th
of October, the first session of this day was held from 9am to 10:30am this session covered
the topic “Introduction to various communication protocols” were different communication protocols used in DCS were thought. The
second session was held from 11:00am to 1:00pm as a “Practical session on configuring of protocols and interfacing with devices” in
this session configuring of various protocols and interfacing of hardware using this protocol was taught. After this session a lunch
break was held from 1pm to 2pm. The third session was held from 2pm to 4pm on “Introduction to Advanced instruction in DCS” in
this session an introduction to advanced instruction was thought. The fourth session was held from 4:30pm to 6pm which was a
practical session on “Implementation of Advanced instruction in DCS” in this session hands on training was given on use of advance
instruction and how to used advanced instruction in yokogawa DCS software.
The third day was concluded by valedictory function with felicitation of experts, followed by HOD and faculty member’s address..
Around 45 students from Final year B.Tech Instrumentation actively participated in the workshop.

October 2016) . The Silvassa tour was sponsored by TEQIPII and permitted by Director Dr L M Waghmare. Dr. R N. Joshi
(Head Textile dept) was the Event Coordinator and Dr. P. G. Solankar was the Coordinator for industry visit. Prof. Suraj Patil & Mr.
M. M. Golegaonkar shared the different responsibilities during tour. The student coordinators were Ms. Shruti Ghadge, Ms.
Vaishnavi Butley, Mr. Ganesh Khandekar & Ms. Priti Sansare. Total 37 students of second and third year B. Tech. and M. Tech.
students participants in all activities.

We all assembled at the college at 4.30 am on 13th
October and left the college premises in a college bus. We reached Trimbakeshwar
near about 10.00 pm and we stayed there at hotel Dhruva Palace which was already booked as per schedule. That was first day of
journey.
On next day i.e. on 14th
October, we started our journey towards Tarapur for industry visit. We reached their near about 11.00 am and
firstly went to the Bombay Rayon Fashion Limited (BRFL) which is a Processing industry located in Tarapur and receive the
visitors’ I-cards. First of all we all did our lunch at BRFL which was provided by the industry itself and then proceeds towards for
gaining the details about industry and its manufacturing processes. Daily production of BRFL is near about 5 lakh ton and whose
Managing Director is Mr. Prashant Agrawal. There are several processing departments like Grey Department, Printing Department,
Dyeing Department in which processing such as bleaching, scouring, singeing, etc. were carried out by using different machines’
parameters. Visit to this industry was fruitful since students gave feedback; it was very informative with latest technological
developments in the industry. After that we visited the weaving unit of BRFL Tarapur. In this industry, our Alumni Mr. Amar
Chilkha (AGM) and Mr Gowardhan Unde (Sr. Manager) helped us a lot. They gave us all necessary details about the industry. Near
about 5.30 pm we left the Tarapur and started our journey to Silvassa. We reached at Silvassa at 10.00 pm and our stay in Silvassa
was at Hotel Excellency. That was our second day of tour which was very informative for all of us.

On third day i.e. on 15th
October, we all became ready on given time i.e on 9.00 am and done our breakfast at Hotel Simply South.
After that we all visited the synthetic plant named as Sanathan Textiles located in Silvassa. We all learnt about the working of melt
spinning line and also noted down the processing parameters which is required for spinning in that plant. Mr. Chetan Chopkar
(Textile alumnus 1995) who is working as a Vice President has helped for permission & visit.
After that we all had lunch at Hotel and moved towards the Hotel Excellency. On the same day there were an Industry Institute meet
and SEAA Silvassa Chapter Inauguration Program was already scheduled at Hotel Excellency, therefore we all have started the
necessary preparations and arrangements required for the program.

Program was started at 4.00 pm with the speeches and the old memories of our Alumni’s. After that SEAA Silvassa Chapter was
inaugurated by Honorable Director Dr. L. M. Waghmare, Dr. Holambe, Dr. Arun Patil sir, Mr. Shailesh Deshpande sir and Head of
Department Dr. R. N. Joshi. After the SEAA Silvassa Chapter Inauguration, it was a time to start the Alumni Meet Program which is
the most awaited program for all of our Alumni and it was the most special program for the alumni of 1992 batch because it was their
Silver Jubilee.

Thus Program started with the Lamp Lightening Ceremony and after that speeches and felicitations of the all alumni were started
form 1991 batch to 2016 batch. All of them shared their college life moments and their past experiences which helped us a lot in
showing the correct path in our future. Many of them on high posts in their respective industries like Sr. Manager, General Manager,
Vice President etc. So, it was a really a great opportunity to listen them and to learn something. When all speeches and felicitations
were ended, there was one our cultural program was arranged by students for Alumni. Then all the Alumni, Faculty and students
Proceeded towards the dinner and we all interacted with our Alumni during the same time. It was really an amazing time. Such that
our third day was really an awesome and unforgettable day for us.

We all get lot of information about from the workshop. After that
we all proceeded towards the lunch and at the same time Mr.
Ashok Swami, Mr. Shailesh Deshpande, Mr. Arvind Pahurkar,
Mr. Prakash Nilawar, Mr. B Basu and Mr. Mardikar guided the
students during round table discussion. At evening time, Mr.
Ashok Swami (1991 textile alumnus) sponsored the dinner to all
students and staff. It was really a memorable dinner with Swami
sir and with his family. Our fifth day of tour was the most
enjoyable day for all of us. On 17th
October we left the Hotel
Excellency as well as Sivassa near about 5.00 am and started the
journey towards Nanded via Saputara and reached the college
premises at 7.30 am in the morning.

ISRO Ahmedabad, Masibus Automation & Instrumentation and Amtech Electronics India Ltd.

We reached ISRO Ahmedabad at 2:00 pm on 14th
October 2016. We were greeted by the officials at the main gate. There we
headed towards the exhibition of their organization. There we were shown a short film on journey of SAC Ahmedabad. After that
we were allotted two volunteers to explain all the recent technology and research under their name. There we saw all their exhibits
like PSLV, MSLV and many other missile technology of the country. There we played an interactive game which was based on
research and development under ISRO.
Space Applications Centre (SAC), is a major research and development centre of the Indian Space Research Organisation
(ISRO). It plays a key role in realizing vision and mission of ISRO. Located at Ahmedabad, SAC is spread across two campuses
having multi-disciplinary activities. The core competence of the centre lies in development of space borne and air borne
instruments/payloads and their applications for national development and societal benefits. These applications are in diverse areas
and primarily meet the communication, navigation and remote sensing needs of the country. Besides these, the centre also
contributes significantly in scientific and planetary missions of ISRO like Chandrayan-1, Mars Orbiter Mission etc.

The communication transponders developed at this centre for Indian National Satellite (INSAT) and Geo Synchronous Satellite
(GSAT) series of satellites are used by government and private sector for VSAT, DTH, internet, broadcasting, telephony etc. These
satellites are instrumental in reaching remote parts of the country. The payloads for major navigation systems of the country -
Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS) and GPS Aided Geo Augmented Navigation (GAGAN) are being developed
by this centre.
This centre designs and develops the optical and microware sensors for the satellites, signal and image processing software, GIS
software and many applications for Earth Observation (EO) programme of ISRO. These applications are in diverse areas of
Geosciences, Agriculture, Environment and Climate Change, Physical Oceanography, Biological Oceanography, Atmosphere,
Cryosphere, Hydrosphere etc.
The facilities at SAC includes highly sophisticated payload integration laboratories, electronic and mechanical fabrication facilities,
environmental test facilities, systems reliability/assurance group, image processing and analysis facilities, project management
support group and a well-stocked library. SAC has active collaborations with industry, academia, national and international
institutes for research and development. The centre also has state-of-art in-house and mobile exhibitions to propagate space
technology and applications amongst students and public.

We reached the industry at 2:00 pm on 15th
October 2016 where we were warmly welcomed by the crew members of the same. We
took advantage of a short seminar of the company regarding PCB designing and Manufacturing. We thoroughly endeavored
through each and every sections of the company such as Manufacturing, Research and Development and Designing Section. Then
we had a great interactive session with the H.R. of the firm.

Mr. Sandeep Waikar, SoC Design Engineer, Applied Micro, Pune Delivered keynote on Combinational logic Design , followed by
hands-on-session of adder and basic logic diagram on ISEsimulator. Digital system design especially sequential logic design has
been covered on second day. The detail on Data path circuit design and control path design followed by hands-on session on that has
been conducted. The goal of this short course was to bring out effectiveness of simulation tool specifically in the areas of digital
system design. Several fundamental concepts involved in this area have been taken. For each concept, a specific problem assigned to
get better understanding of the operation followed by hands on session. The course was designed for the M.Tech Electronics and
VLSI PG Students and course contents are as follows,
Basic Logic gates and Verilog syntax for arithmetic, logical, bit wise operator
Combinational Circuits: Adder, Multiplier, Encoder, Decoder.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. B. M. Patre, Professor Instrumentation Engineering SGGSIE&T. Invited experts for
this three days workshop were Dr. R. N. Methekar and Dr. S. Agrawal, Department of Chemical Engineering, Nagpur. The work
shop was inaugurated with the lightning of lamp followed by the floral welcome of all chair people. The welcome speech was given
by our Head of Department, Dr. P. G. Jadhav. The key note address was delivered by Dr. B. M. Patre. Inaugural session was attended

Session 1:
Session 1 was hosted by Dr. Ravi Methekar. Session begins with an introduction of MATLAB (MATrixLABoratory) and its origin.
Dr. Methekar discussed the basics of modelling which includes errors and types of errors viz. Syntax errors and programming errors,
extraordinary features of MATLAB mentioning the user friendly interface of the software, various Operators used in MATLAB,
variables and variable names, special variables used by MATLAB, with their use and meaning and tools used in MATLAB like
‘help’, ‘lookfor’ etc. which are used in programming.

Session 2:
Session 2 was based on arithmetic operations and fun with matrices. Session started with theintroduction of vector operations and
vector arithmetic.Discussion was followed by matrix operations, matrix arithmetic and various types of matrices available with
MATLAB. Dr. Methekar explained properties of matrices and how to append them very beautifully. He took some problems for
matrix operations and appending. In this way day 1 of the workshop concluded.

DAY 2 - Session 1:
It was hosted by Dr. Methekar with continuing fun using matrices and some more examples on matrices. Then he introduced the
main topic of this session, ‘files in MATLAB’. He explained about Script file and Function file, their syntax and use; concluding that
‘MATLAB is a sequential solvent. Then he took few examples related to chemical engineering like calculation of mass percent, mole
percent using files in MATLAB.
Session 2:
Dr. Shailesh Agrawal took the charge of session 2. He introduced engineering application of MATLAB. He initiated the introduction
with the use of linear equations in MATLAB. Then he took few examples related to chemical engineering like calculations of
material balance and energy balance using matrices in MATLAB. Then he explained about non-linear equations using MATLAB.

DAY 3 - Session 1:
It was hosted by Dr. Methekar. In this session he introduced about Decision Making and various kinds of loop statements used in
matlab. He explained ‘if-end’, ‘if-else-end’, ‘else if ladder’, ‘nested if’, ‘while’ and syntax of all these loops. Few examples based on
loop controlled statements were also solved.
Session 2:
It was conducted by Dr. Shailesh Agrawal. He explained about Differential equations and how to use them in MATLAB. He took
few examples on differential equations using RK method in MATLAB. He took few examples based on chemical reaction
engineering like single reaction system for single differential equation and multiple reaction system for multiple differential
equations.
In this way the technical sessions were carried out with perfect introduction to MATLAB and idea to solve engineering problems
using MATLAB.

The workshop was concluded with the valedictory function where the participants were given their participation certificates by the
hands of Honourable Director, SGGSIE&T, Dr. L. M. Waghmare, invited guests and Head of the Department of Chemical
Engineering. Concluding remarks was delivered by Dr. L. M. Waghmare and Dr. P. G. Jadhav. Vote of thanks was given by Mr.
Vivek Jangde.

“Debate Competition” 23
rd October, 2016
The department of Civil Engineering conducted a Debate Competition under the guidance of Dr. L. G. Patil and Dr. M. P. Rajurkar to
provide a platform to express hidden talent of students. The objective of this competition was to develop student’s communication
and interpersonal skills, debating skills, critical thinking ability, teamwork and leadership quality which will be helpful to them while
placement interviews.
Competition was held on 23rd
October 2016 i.e. Sunday. Competition was open for First year to M.Tech. students. Ms. Shital
Hambarde, Ms. Pallavi Joshi, Mr. Anjanchary Pinoji experts from Language Department were the judges for this competition. The
competition started with lighting of the lamp and goddess Sarswati poojan. Followed by felicitation of dignitaries and the guidance
from Dr. M. P. Rajurkar, Dr. M. L. Waikar and Ms. Shital Hambarde Mam.
First round was Extempore-I. This was especially for the FY (Civil) students to improve their stage courage. The topic were declared
earlier. Topics were
i) Make in India, ii) Vision 2020, iii) Smart City, iv) Tourism in India.
Around 15 students participated for this round and all are shortlisted for next round.
Second round was Extempore-II which was open to students from S.Y. to B.Tech along with the shortlisted students from Round-II.
These students were provided topics on the spot. The topics were:
i) Surgical Strikes, ii) Olympic, iii) Terrorism scenario of the world, iv) Bullet Train, v) Raghuram Rajan- Governor of RBI.
In this round candidate’s communication and interpersonal skills were judged. Total 32 students were shortlisted for next round. The
judges made 16 teams with 2 participants/team.
Third round was the “Debate Competition.” There were 16 teams in this round. Topics for debate were given to the teams just before
their debate to check their presence of mind and critical thinking, team work, confidence, leadership quality. The topics were:
i) Youth Participation in Politics Will it change the scenario? ii)Smart City / high speed train is waste of wealth or prosperity to
mankind? iii) Social Media boon or Curse? iv) Indian Economy Vs. Chinese Economy
After this enthusiastic round, judges take their best decision of the results

The goal of this workshop was to create awareness among for the use of raspberry pi tool kit.

November, 2016. Mr. Rajesh M. Shah from Nice Consultancy was the chief speaker. At 10 A.M on 13/11/2016, Hon. Director Dr. L.
M. Waghmare felicitated Mr. Rajesh Shah, followed by felicitation of Hon. Director at the hands of Head of the Department Dr. S.T.

Immediately after the small welcome ceremony, the workshop was started. In the first session, Mr. Rajesh Shah explained the role of
an Instrumentation engineer in the industries and fields where they can make their careers .various fields in instrumentation industries
were magnified in context with the personal interest and individual strengths. In this session he emphasized on many fields in the
industry like – Marketing, Sales, Calibration, Testing, Design, and Documentation. Also with that, he highlighted the soft skills that
are essential while working in these different fields. This session was very helpful for students for finding the best compatible job for
them so as to make sure that they would get job satisfaction.

In the afternoon session, he mainly focused on his personal experiences in the industry like the type of projects and the jobs
around the world. He highlighted examples of some of his colleagues. At the end of this session; students could get an idea of what
kind of job they will be doing in industries, along with things that are necessary for the fresher at the start of their career.
On next day workshop started with Detail Instrumentation in Engineering. This covered the flow, level, pressure, sensors,
Control valves, actuators. Many basic questions were asked by the students that were important while appearing for interviews. Also
in this session, he introduced many new technologies that are used in industries to overcome various difficulties while implementing
the concepts. This session was very interactive and thought provoking for the students as many of the practical problems are overcome
by just the necessary common sense.
The last session of the workshop was focused on control actions and control strategies. Due to time constrains, in this session he took
overview of different control strategies and problems in the designing a system.
At the end of two day workshop a vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Jayant G. Parkhe.

For First Year B.Tech students, a Two Days Workshop on “i-Pro Program Stressing Success” was organized by Shri Guru Gobind
Singhji Institute of Engineering and Technology, Nanded on 22 Dec 2016. Inauguration of the program was done by Prof. Y. I. Shah
(DTE), Mr. Sameer Dudhagaonkar from MACCIA, Mr. Chilvan Rameshwar were the chief guest of this program. Director of
SGGSIE&T Dr. L. M. Waghmare, TEQIP Coordinator Dr. A. B. Gonde, Dean Dr. Lenina Birgale, Program Coordinator Dr. Rekha
Bhalekar were present for the Inauguration program.
Dr. L. M. Waghmare guided students for their bright future. Followed by this Prof. Y. I. Shah delivered a brief speech on
carrier guidance and about workshop.
The ice break activity was taken to split the students in different groups and Mr. Samir Dudhgaonkar delivered a talk which
was followed by some audio and video clips of successful personality which encouraged the participants to achieve the success. After
this session Lunch was organized for participants.
After the Lunch session Mr. Chilvan Rameshwar guided the participants regarding Business Entrepreneurship and gave hints
on how to be a successful business man. Lastly feedback of participants was taken.

Session II was conducted by Dr. V. Kalyanraman. He gave a talk on, “Recent advancements in drinking water technologies
and a need exist to imbibe India centric approach”. He gave brief about the recent technologies used for water testings viz. COD,
BOD and different impurities present in water. He explains the hazardous effects of contaminated water and showed analysis of
different Indian regions suffering from contaminated water.

SESSION I
The session was conducted by Dr. Nitin K. Labhsetwar (CSIR-NEERI). Dr. Labhstewar has presented his talk on, “Water
Quality Challenges: Some practical issues”. Here he discussed the exploitation of ground water by humans and the urgent need to
minimise it. He also discussed the comparison between urban and rural water usage.

Dr. G. Khadse (CSIR_NEERI) hosted the following session wherein he delivered his talk on, “Quality Issues and
Technology Interventions”. He explained how to detect and counter water born diseases causes due different types of impurities like
fluoride, nitrite etc. He also demonstrated the physical properties of impure drinking water.

SESSION I
The talk for this session was delivered by Dr. S. Sridhar (IICT, Hyderabad). Topic for this presentation was, “Adsorption
process for drinking Water Treatment”. During his talk Dr. Sridhar clarified the role of different absorbents to treat water. Different
techniques for water disinfection i.e. chlorination, ozonation and ion exchange method were discussed.

Dr. L.G. Patil, (SGGSIE&T Nanded) hosted the next session where his topic of talk was,”Application of Jet for Coagulant
Mixing”. Dr. Patil has nicely explained the fundamental principles of jet mixer, turbidity, intensity of mixing, tracer study and there
mathematical expressions to the participants.

The first talk on day 5 was delivered by Dr. P. H. Borse (ARCI Hyderabad). The talk was on, “Recent developments in Wet
and Dry Solar cells”. Reference points of his research were Structure of Dry PV solar Cell, PSC/DSSC solar cells, Perovskites cells
and cost economics.

Second session for day 5 was conducted by Dr. Jitendra Sangwai (IIT Madras). He presented he talk on, “Gas Hydrate
Technology for Large Scale Seawater Desalination Projects”. Key points in his presentation were Gas Hydrate as energy source,
Desalination and Gas Uptake during Hydrate Formation in Pure Water and Seawater .The research work was highly appreciated by
the Participants.

SESSION I
Final day on this course was initiated by the talk on, “Water Disinfection Techniques-Recover, Reuse & Recycle” Dr. A. B.
Pandit (ICT Mumbai). He discussed about the optimization of Hand-pump strokes, diseases caused and their remedial measures. The
whole idea shared was to reduce the drinking water casualties in developing countries.
SESSION II
Last session of this training course was conducted by D. S. Kamble. He gave his talk on, “Utilization of Solar Energy for
treatment/purification of sewage water and industrial wastewater”. The main points of the lecture include Solar thermal technology,
present power scenario in India and strategies for wastewater management.

VALEDICTORY FUNCTION
The workshop was concluded with the valedictory function where the participants were given their participation certificates
by the hands of invited guest Dr. Pandit and Dr. P. G. Jadhav. Concluding remarks was delivered by Dr. P. G. Jadhav. Vote of thanks
was given by Prof. Vivek Jangde.
FEEDBACK
The participants had very good things to say about the workshop in the feedback session. They praised the organizing
committee for bringing such distinguish speaker working in the field of drinking water and solar energy to conduct wonderful
interactive technical sessions. Participants appreciated the efforts taken by committee members and staff of chemical engineering
department. A special thanks was given to the coordinator of this event, Dr. P. G. Jadhav for conducting such an informative training
course which may help interdisciplinary faculties to carry research work in the area of drinking water and solar energy
CONCLUSION
The training course turned out to be an eye opener for the participants who are working or wanted to work in the field of
drinking water and solar energy. We thank the support of the Management, Head of Department, Faculty members and committee
members and students who helped us in making this course a grand success.
