The virtual reality evolution

• Virtual Reality can today be experienced in various forms and with the aid of smart devices. Great efforts have been made so far, with the aim of transferring as much as possible of our persona, into a virtual Avatar in an online 3D interactive environment.

• Nowadays, the interfaces focus on tracking movement, actions, reproduce sounds and voice communication. All those interfaces are leading us into a more connected era of the Internet, with enormous calculus power.

• By 2020, Virtual Reality will be mainstream and used widely from entertainment to training. It will reshape the way we learn, work and socialize, as much as the Internet did from the very beginning.

• Qbit Technologies is one of the leading companies, experimenting and actively developing test on these technologies, with partner companies in Silicon Valley.

Virtual Reality Mirroring and Mapping

• Qbit has 9 years of documented experiences and projects delivered in the domain of online virtual reality and virtual worlds. We are now working as alpha developers on a new online platform called High Fidelity, in which we can design different virtual reality solutions, from virtual e-commerce to virtual collaboration spaces.

• At Qbit, we develop technologies to build virtual models or real life environments and infrastructures, that can be connected over the Internet, to the real existing structures. In fact, by connecting the virtual environment, with real time data, coming from any environment, we can achieve a real time 3D simulation of any geographical area, production model, office facility or any existing infrastructure, which can be remotely managed in one single online space.

Virtual Geo-Mapping

Services, business and tourism in 3D

Virtual Geo-Mapping

• Qbit Technologies is able to design and develop any geographical area or urban settlement in 3D, a faithful 3D reproduction, developed using High Fidelity.

• The development of such virtual solution requires five steps. Each step adds new content and quality to the 3D rendered environment.

5 steps to virtualize geographical areas

1. CREATE HEIGHT MAPS

The entire area is taken from satellite images and height maps. It reproduces the territory and the place holders of the building structures in exact scale and proportion.

2. IMPORT HEIGHT MAPS

Once properly setup, the territory maps are imported on High Fidelity platform and rendered online.

3. ENVIRONMENT LAYER

Once the territory mapping is done, an environment and vegetation layer is added together with green areas.

4. ROAD SETUP

The roads are replicated as they are in real, following the satellite maps.

5. BUILDINGS LAYER

One at the time, we replace the 3D building place holders, with fully detailed models of each building we want to replicate. We start from exteriors and some of the buildings interiors, depending on the project requests.

Height maps

Example of a real city taken from satellite images and height maps. The territory map is imported on High Fidelity platform and rendered online.

Venice, an example case1. Venice satellite images imported on High Fidelity to be rendered online.

2. Venice building footprint to start designing and apply graphic details.

3. Venice partially detailed.

4. Venice partially detailed and the satellite images applied to start improving graphic quality of the entire city.

Real time data integration

• The 3D models, items, objects and terrains developed using High Fidelity or imported in it, can be directly connected to any set of data and databases, in order to visualize data in real time within the 3D simulation.

• The simulation will respond in real time to changes or incidents, in any type of IT web-connected network, following the paradigms of the Internet of Things.

• This is especially useful, when simulating geographical areas or cities and the impact of events or crisis's on them. Some examples can be:– Real time replication of weather conditions.– Terrain displacement phenomena, floods, natural disasters.– City services issues, such as infrastructures monitoring, gas,

electricity, road, public transport networks, etc.

Virtual geo-mapping benefits

• Provide users and citizen with services on an innovative 3D platform (community, conferencing, shopping, social).

• Experience tourism in a new immersive way, at any time and anywhere you are. Visit in virtuality, real locations, like Venice.

• A brand extension opportunity for each business in a geographical area, tourism and shopping, to have their spaces in 3D.

• Design environments for education and training, involving local Institutions.• Virtualize events, giving access to millions of people.• Bring to the world the most innovative and futuristic vision of an area.• Worldwide media attention and visibility.• A new platform for partnerships and international collaboration.

Virtual Production Models

Virtualization of production facilities

Virtual Production Models

• Qbit Technologies is able to design and develop any 3D environment, which can reproduce faithfully a real production model.

• This kind of development allows us to track the production models of any company, connecting each production step to the virtualized environment in order to manage it entirely through a 3D simulation.

• Usually, big companies involve special machines in the production process. We are able to connect those machines to the virtualized environment to display them in real time.

Real time data integration

• The buildings, 3D items and objects connected to the environment developed in High Fidelity, will exchange data with the simulation, giving the opportunity to operators to instantly react in case of issues or simply manage the entire productive process.

• The simulation will follow the paradgims of the Internet of Things to display data with any IT web-connected platform.

Virtual production model benefits

• Provide companies with an innovative 3D way of managing productive processes.• Monitor large infrastructures, factories, power plants and production facilities.• The 3D virtual environment especially designed can be used for different goals:

– managing the entire production process.– be used as a 3D simulation online space where to train new employees, to test security

policies and to collaborate in team.• Bring to the world the most innovative and futuristic vision of managing business

processes.

Virtual Facility Management

A more productive workspace

Virtual facility management

• Facility management is an interdisciplinary field devoted to the coordination of space, infrastructure, people and organization, often associated with the administration of office blocks, convention centres, shopping centres and more.

• Qbit Technologies develops 3D interactive virtual environments mirroring real infrastructures or networks of facilities.

• The 3D environment created can help organizations to manage spaces, people and devices, simulating what can happen if the layout or position of such elements changes.

• The 3D environment is connected online in order to manage in real time printers, computers, air conditioning systems, electrics systems, servers and any other device.

Virtual facility management benefits

• Provide companies with an innovative 3D way of managing office spaces, people and infrastructures.

• Give detailed real time visualization of the status and performance of any type of infrastructure.

• The 3D environment allows to manage services like maintenance.• The 3D space is useful for virtual testing and space allocation.• The 3D space offers a place where to experiment without ay risk.• Simulate new layouts for spaces and infrastructures.• Simulate new processes, which can be more effective than the originals.
