  • WELCOME LETTER

On behalf of the JVS Board of Directors and staff, we want to thank you for joining us tonight. We proudly come together to recognize the accomplishments of our students and clients, celebrate our valued partners and dedicated staff, and affirm the importance of providing opportunity for all.

Tonight, we honor Lynne and Joe Goodman, who are valued, longtime JVS supporters. Joe Goodman has served on the JVS Board of Directors since 2008. He co-founded Bob’s Discount Furniture in 1991 and over the next decade, helped lead the company through its dramatic growth. He is now an active philanthropist and mentor, donating his time, experi-ence, and strategic thinking to several non-profit organizations in the Boston area. Lynne has been a “volunteer extraordinaire.” She has given her time to Tufts Medical in the ICU cuddling program for infants with minimal or no family support, at the Michael Lisnow Respite Center interacting with clients and preparing weekly meals for 24 people, and in classroom work at the Josiah Quincy School in Boston with 1st and 2nd graders.

We also honor Santander Bank for their support of education and workforce development in Boston. Santander helps people and businesses prosper by fostering financial inclusion and sustainable and inclusive growth. Santander’s Inclusive Communities Plan supports partnerships with organizations focused on financial empowerment, small business and entrepreneurship, and affordable housing and healthy neighborhoods with an emphasis on under-served neighborhoods in the communities it serves throughout its Northeast banking footprint. Since 2015, Santander has supported JVS’s Financial Opportunity Center, which offers financial coaching services including budgeting and credit repair, as well as JVS’s bank careers training.

With your support, JVS is able to serve thousands of individuals every year, empowering each person to build their skills, find meaningful employment, and achieve economic independence. Thank you for supporting the work we do and helping us ELEVATE individuals and their families as we support them in the development of their skills, jobs and careers.Sincerely,

    Jerry RubinPresident & CEO
