Objective: Promote young alumni participation in Alumni Association events and services including local chapter activities, constituency programs, mixers, reunions, social and professional networking and community service. Engage young alumni by developing programs and services specific to their needs and interests.

Current Programs: Marketing Campaign: “VirginiaTechforlife. All alumni are members for life. No dues, ever!”

Young Alumni brochure, senior mailing, website, and branded logo Social Media

Young Alumni Reunion Alumni come back to campus, catch up with friends and past classmates, and watch Virginia Tech football. The night before the

game, the reunion kicks off with a happy hour social. Game day, alumni gather on the lawn of the Alumni Center for a fun-filled tailgate, Hokie-style.

Young Alumni Mixers Regional happy hours that allow alumni to network in a fun social environment

Alumni Chapter Young Alumni Chairs Oversee programming to better engage young alumni for the chapter

New Initiatives: Young Alumni E-Newsletter – Quarterly

The first young alumni e-newsletter is scheduled for May to graduating students. The content will reflect the Young Alumni brochure sent in their senior mailing. The brochure outlines all the programs and services that the Alumni Association has to offer.

The following three newsletters will highlight upcoming college and alumni events, VT News topics (relevant to this demographic) , Alumni Association content, and profiles on successful young alumni.

Young Alumni Advisory Council The Young Alumni Advisory Council (YAAC) will be comprised of Alumni Association Board members who have graduated within the

last 15 years. They will advise the Young Alumni Director on matters key to engaging young alumni. The council’s advice to specific programs and services for this demographic will be valuable.
