Greetings to the populace of Aneala, Unfortunately my two year term as Anealan Marshalis drawing to an end, and as such, I'm seeking a replacement for the role. What does the role involve?

• Reporting Quarterly to the Lochac Earl Marshal, letting him know what's going on in the Barony with regards to

Armoured Combat, Rapier and Archery. This includes recent au-thorisations you know of, events that have occurred, and any injuries that have occurred. • Reporting to the monthly Anealan Council, as well as either

attending or arranging for someone to attend for you, when possible.

• Arranging marshals for tournaments, if required by the event steward.

Those are the main responsibilities. As well as that, you should also be willing to keep up to date with the rules regarding com-bat in the SCA, and make sure new rules are put in place locally. There is currently a new draft marshal's handbook cur-rently under consideration, so that will be coming into practice within the next few months, I believe. The last, and more serious, responsibility of the position, though unlikely to come up, is that in the unlikely event that a fighter dislikes a marshal's decision on the field and takes it fur-ther, you are the final point of authority in the Barony, below the Kingdom and Society Earl Marshals. However, I've never seen any issue occur in the Barony, and most things are resolved in a quick, friendly manner. If you're interested in the position, please contact either myself, or Lachlahn, Seneschal of Aneala.

Yours In Service Seamus O’Seamuis Knight Marshal of Aneala

As Anealan Marshal, your main responsibilities will include:

Missive from the Marshal of aneala

Date Sunday 5th of May Time 8:30 set up, event 10 am to 5 pm Venue Mason's Landing - Liege Street, Cannington Steward Baroness Branwen of Aneala Contact [email protected] Cost Members free Non-Members $5 This is Aneala's Premiere Fighting Event for Armoured and Rapier, where the fighters of Aneala come forward and donate their prowess on the field to help raise funds for the Barony. Whilst the fighting in the Tournament can be very fierce and awe inspiring, the battle to become a sponsor for the day can be unnerving for the faint hearted. The theme for this year will be to buy a Heraldic Charge. Fighters, it must not be your own charge as fighters are to remain anonymous till after the auction. But this does not preclude you from using hints to give clues or to confuse the sponsors. Consortiums are en-couraged. List Shields are required. For those new to our event, prizes are given to the sponsors as expressions of acknowledgement to those who have donated to the Barony. Traditionally these gifts are supplied to the Prize Table by generous arti-sans of the Barony and others who have goods or ser-vices they wish to donate. Hand made items are espe-cially treasured and encouraged. The site opens at 8.30am for set up, help is always re-ceived with gratitude and relief. The event starts at 10am with the auction, followed by the Rapier and Armoured Tournaments. Pop-ups only. Lunch is Pot Luck, please bring a plate to share with 6-8 people, in a medieval style. thank you.
