Chuck & Nan Geschke Outstanding Philanthropists Recognition Award Chuck & Nan accepting the award

Chuck and Nan Geschke, longtime Villa Siena supporters, were presented the top award at the Silicon Valley Philanthropy Day Luncheon held at the Santa Clara Convention Center on November 18th. The Outstanding Philanthropist Award recognized the Geschkes’ leadership and philanthropy in Silicon Valley and nationally, “setting a gold standard for all generations of philanthropists.” The award citation included: “This quiet couple from Ohio doesn’t like to draw attention to themselves, but they can’t help it. Together, Chuck and Nan Geschke have made the world a better place through their innovation, intelligence, ethics and drive for excellence. In 1982, Chuck revolutionized printing and publishing, co-founding Adobe Systems and turning the personal computer from a calculating to a publishing machine. Together, the Geschekes are solid role models, living their lives with integrity and continued community involvement.” Chuck and Nan’s involvement with Villa Siena goes back to the time when Chuck’s dad, Matt, was a Villa Siena resident. The support and leadership that they have provided to Villa Siena has had significant and lasting impact. Villa Siena congratulates Chuck and Nan on this recognition.

WINTER/SPRING 2017

OKTOBERFEST FUNDRAISING EVENT

On the evening of Saturday, September 24th, the Villa Siena Foundation hosted its annual Fall Fundraising Event – Oktoberfest. A delightful evening of music and fun. A lively crowd of approximately 300 people enjoyed this festive evening.

At Villa Siena’s front entrance, guests had their picture taken in front of a Bavarian archway while being entertained by a traditional German Brass Band, Der Brasswerks, and a German dance team.

The courtyard became a German Biergarten where guest could fill and refill their beer steins with specially crafted Oktoberfest beer provided by The Tied House Brewery and munch on pretzels and specialty German mustard. The evening wouldn’t be complete without an authentic game or two, which included a challenging traditional log sawing contest and Beer Pong.

We had some very happy winners! Our German cuisine was very traditional and featured German style pork shank, Bratwurst, Sauerkraut, Red Cabbage and warm German Potato Salad. Dessert was a mouth watering Apple Strudel served by Villa Siena’s staff and volunteer students from Notre Dame High School. . Highlights of the evening included plentyof music, dancing and a raffle.“The Chicken Dance” was led by our German dancers and everyone joined in this lively dance. The evening was filled with laughter and good times!
