A force is a push or pull. A force can give energy to an object causing the object to

start moving, stop moving or change its motion. Force has an size and direction. All motion is created by a force.

WHAT IS FORCE ?

Page 4: vijitha ppt

Measured in Newton(N). The more Newton's the greater the force. One tool to measure the force of gravity is the spring

scale.

HOW IS FORCE MEASURED ?

Page 5: vijitha ppt

Contact and non contact force. Balanced and unbalanced force.

Internal and external force.

CLASSIFICATION OF FORCE

Page 6: vijitha ppt

A force that can be applied only when it is in contact with

an object is called a contact force.

E.g. Muscular force

Frictional force

CONTACT FORCE

Page 7: vijitha ppt

A force that can be applied with out any contact between

two bodies is called noncontact force.

E.g. Magnetic force

Gravitational force

NON CONTACT FORCE

Page 8: vijitha ppt

The forces exchanged by the object in the system is

called internal force.

E.g. Gravitational forces

Electrical force

INTERNAL FORCE

Page 9: vijitha ppt

External forces are forces caused by external agent

outside of the system.

E.g. Applied forces

Frictional force

EXTERNAL FORCES

Page 10: vijitha ppt

Equal forces that act on an object from opposite sides. The object does not move.

BALANCED FORCE

Page 11: vijitha ppt

Unequal forces that act on an object from opposite sides. It make the object move.

UNBALANCED FORCE
