In order to avoid the communication gap among the various stakeholders of the

institute on all academic and administrative matters and also to facilitate the

achievement of the intended student learning outcomes, the ‘Faculty Council’

of the college resolved to bring out a quarterly e-newsletter. The various

activities organized from time to time, be it co-curricular or extracurricular will

be a part of this newsletter. All important events planned will also be covered.

Besides mailing online to all the concerned, this will also be kept on our

website. We earnestly seek suggestions for improvement.

TELUGU BHASHABHIVRUDHI GOSTI:

In association with the World Telugu Federation (WTF) Hyderabad Chapter, a

“Telugu Bhashabhivrudhi Gosti” organized a seminar in the college involving the

students on 22-08-2019. Smt. Narne Vijaya Lakshmi garu, Chairperson of the

Hyderabad chapter WTF, a widely popular social activist, working for the cause of

poverty alleviation, women empowerment, literacy promotion and Telugu

Bhashabhivrudhi was the Chief Guest. Twelve students presented their points of view,

referring to classical and modern poets, for the promotion of Telugu Language. Smt.

Narne Vijaya Lakshmi garu inspired and motivated the students with her eloquent

speech quoting extensively from the scriptures and Telugu literary scholars for the

promotion of “Telugu”. Several other dignitaries of WTF, Smt. Surya Prabha, Smt.

Ratna Paturi and Sri. P.V. Sai garu participated in the programme. Dr. D. Vijaya

Prasad, director, presided over the meeting.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS: Independence Day celebrations were held in the college on August 15th. The flag hoisting was done by the final

year girl toppers of the college. The Director and the Principal spoke about the importance of the day. The students

and faculty sang patriotic songs in chorus.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA CELEBRATIONS: On 21st June 2019, International Day of Yoga was celebrated in the college. Mr. Ashwin Kumar from Isha

Foundation was invited to speak on yoga. Some ‘Asanas’ were practiced by faculty & students.

INDUCTION DAY PROGRAM:

Induction day was held for all the freshers on 8th of July to familiarise them with the working of the college and to give them

information regarding the activities that are conducted in the college for the benefit of the students.Conveners of the Cultural,

Sports, Literary, Seminar, NSS, Examinations, Career Guidance & Placements, Certificate Courses, Yoga, and Anti-Ragging

Committees: Ms. Lydia, Ms. Shirisha, Dr. Rama, Ms. Vijaya Laxmi, Dr. Shashidhar, Ms. Anuradha and Ms. Radhika

respectively, made PPTs on the various activities, committees and clubs present in our college. The Director, Dr. Vijaya

Prasad Garu, the Principal, Dr. Aruna Garu, and the Vice-Principal, Dr. Rama Garu addressed the students.

GUEST LECTURES: A talk by Dr. Ch. S. Durga Prasad, director VJIM, on how students of business administration should groom

themselves with regard to their thought processes, was organized for all BBA students. Later Dr. Durga Prasad

garu interacted with the faculty of the Management department for an hour and assured them of all possible

assistance from Vignana Jyothi Institute of Management.

A talk on ‘Overcoming Stage Fear’, which is the first step to public speaking, was organized by the English

Department. The speaker was Sabreena Ahmed, a popular Emcee (Master of Ceremonies) & entrepreneur who

has hosted many prominent events in the city.

WORKSHOPS ATTENDED:

Ms. Lydia & Ms. Shirisha, faculty of commerce, attended a two-day National Seminar on Emerging

Trends in Banking, Insurance and Tourism, at OU, organised by Department of Commerce on 29th June.

Dr. Shashidhar, Sanskrit lecturer attended a 2 day National Conference on Language & Literature:

‘Their Significance to the Present-To the Society’ at Sarojini Naidu Vanitha Mahavidyalaya, Hyderabad

on 16th August.

Dr. Venkateshwarlu attended A Five-Day Workshop-cum-Training Program on Testing & Evaluation

and Question Item Writing in Telugu for Assistant Professors / Lecturers / High School Teachers /

Research scholars from South India from 26th – 30th August, organized by National Testing Service-

India, CIIL, Mysuru.

Ph.D Awarded: Ms. T. Rama, vice principal, completed her viva-voce and was awarded PhD in English by JNTUH Hyderabad

on 2nd July.

SATURDAY SEMINARS:

On 6th July, The seminar committee conducted a seminar on the topic,” Stories of Successful Businessmen” Mr. G.

Ganesh from B.Com Computers II year won the first prize and Ms. Bharani from BBA II year won the second prize.

On 20th July, Seminar Committee conducted seminar for Computer Club, on new technology in use like, AI, Internet of

Things, Project Loon, Fireball etc., for all the final year students. Eight teams participated. Vijay & Raghu of BBA

were adjudged winners & Akanksha and Madhavi of B.Com were adjudged runners up.

On 27th July, The Seminar Committee conducted a seminar for the Commerce Club on various topics related

to Commerce. 9 teams participated. The winners are: Mr. Santhosh, Mr. Mohit & Mr. Jamaal from B.Com

On 3rd August, Seminar committee conducted seminar for Commerce Club on topics related to Commerce. 6

teams participated. Mr. Baruch & Ms. Sri Nidhi from BBA II year won the first prize, Mr. G. Ganesh, Ms.

Yuktha and Ms. Lavanya from B.Com II year won the second prize.

On 17-08-2019, Seminar Committee conducted presentations on various topics of general interest, the winners

for that week were, Ms. Sravya & Mr. Bhushan from BBA I year, for their topic “Article 370” and the runners

up were Mr. Baruch Sharma & Mr. Siddhanth from BBA II year for their topic “Malnutrition”.

NSS Programme: Nehru Yuva Kendra (Hyderabad branch) conducted a written exam at our college on the occasion of

Independence day. The theme was “Patriotism and Nation Building”. 8 Students participated in this competition.

CLAY GANESH MAKING COMPETITION: On 31st August, Eco-Friendly Ganesha making competition was held for the faculty and students by the NSS

Committee. The winners were Ms. T. Radhika, faculty C.S Dept. among faculty participants. Mr. Adarsh &

Aishwarya of B.Sc 1st Year won 1st Prize and Ms Vaishnavi & Team of B.Com Gen.I year won 2nd Prize among

students.

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS:

On 13th August our college team won the first prize in cricket match organised for charity by St. Francis

College for Women, Begumpet.

Mr. Karan Kanna played for State Level Cricket Competition held by “The Andhra Cricket Association”. He

won the “Best player of the Match” award for the match between East Godhavari Vs Krishna Districts held

on 10th July 2019 and also won the “Best Batsman” award for the match between East Godhavari Vs

Ananthapur Districts on 9th July 2019. He scored 83 runs and was tagged as “Not Out Batsman”.
