Elementary Instrumental Music ProgramGreetings 4th and 5th Grade Parents,

Your 4th or 5th grade child has the opportunity to begin an exciting experience in instrumental music. The Berwick Area School District offers lessons on Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone and Percussion.

Students will be taught in small groups and instructed on performance skills and music notation. Students will be pulled out of regular classes once in every 6-day cycle for a free half-hour lesson. This will be on a rotating basis so that they will only miss the same subject once in a marking period. Students will also meet at recess time as a band to prepare for performances. The Elementary Band will have many opportunities to perform throughout the school year.

The Music Department will present an instrument demonstration and tryout assembly during the school day at each elementary school on:

Wednesday, September 9 th Thursday, September 10 th Salem AM Orange St. AMNescopeck PM 14th St. PM

Only students who return the permission form will be allowed to attend this assembly. The students attending will try 2-3 instruments of their choice and will be given written feedback for you to discuss at home. The form below can be turned into the music teacher at your school. More information about the instrumental program will be sent home the day of the demonstrations. A parent meeting will be held on Monday September 14th at 6:30 in the High School Cafeteria for those who can attend.
