In contemporary society religious festivals are becoming worthless

together and celebrate festivals the same old way. It’s really good because in doing so they are preserving our customs and traditions. Moreover, smartphone addictions have distanced people from meeting and talking. Everyone is in some or the other kind of stress, one is running from the other. In the Indian culture, there was a time when there used to be a Holi Gulal Hindu Festival every day of the year – 365 festivals in a year – because a festival is a tool to bring life to a state of exuberance and enthusiasm.

That was the significance and importance of festivals. The whole culture was in a state of celebration. If today was plugging day, it was a kind of celebration. Tomorrow was planting day, another kind of celebration. Day after tomorrow was the wedding, that was a celebration. Festivals bring happiness, cheer, hope, optimism, celebrations, lights, joy, cooperation, and many more pleasant things in our life. During Diwali, Christmas, Holi, Eid, Gurupurb, Passover, or any other festival the world appears to be heaven. It appears as if the entire world is attending a wedding celebration. Children, adults, teenagers, elders, and middle-aged people all look cheerful and vibrant. The ambiance looks bright and poise.

Now life is mostly restricted to urbanites, we are losing our culture. The cause behind it is the new moderately well-to-do middle-class parents of youngsters. They fail to educate the kids about Indian culture but get thrilled when the kids dance to a Bollywood tune or an MJ song. These days these kids would not be able to say which is Bharatanatyam and which is Odyssey or kathak.

They would identify any western singer but not Pt. Jasraj or any other Indian classical musician. They would have seen 2012 or Startrek but not Shakuntala or Ramayana, their parents who are in the age group of 30

foster intercultural learning experiences. Cultural exchange programs promote mutual understanding between nations and students get an opportunity to learn the culture of other countries.

In contemporary society, religious festivals are becoming worthless with most people only wanting to enjoy themselves. But some people are still celebrating their religious festivals with full enthusiasm and enjoyment. There are rare families that are really celebrating each festival. In the modern era, God’s idol to traditions is shrunk to size. All traditional festivals teach and celebrate the good values of life such as morality and ethics.

For example, people used to celebrate Diwali in a grand manner by wearing new clothes, giving and receiving presents, bursting crackers, and preparing traditional foods which give them more enjoyment. In addition, by decorating their homes with earthen lamps they are also sending out the message that we should dispel darkness from the world and our lives. But in the modern era, people are using China-made wax lamps and some crackers for formality. Health-conscious people avoid eating and making those traditional dishes.

When I was a kid, there used to be hustle and bustle in my home before and after festivals. Days-long preparations, new clothes, house cleaning, and the most favorite part of all this was shopping. And then greeting relatives, going to a friend’s house for greetings, and getting together was fun. Things have changed now. Our hectic lifestyle is major to be blamed; also, since most of the families are nuclear it becomes very difficult to follow all those rituals of celebration.

However, I know of a few families who still get

<<

PAGE 1 to 50 years as of now. These people had no time to teach the young about anything Indian. Further, if you take a look at the schools today you may notice that all their school day functions vibrate with even five-year-olds dancing to Sheila ki javani .

I remember having acted as Krishna or Rama in school functions and girls performing Bharatanatyam or singing classical. With a much more demanding work-life than earlier and with the amalgamation of cultures happening globally, we are losing our cultural identity. I wouldn't know if it's a good thing or not. All I know is we are no longer following age-old practices which reflect our true culture. One reason that comes to mind is, maybe we have a more demanding working lifestyle than ever.

There's too much at hand to be doing things the traditional way. I'd like to believe that this is not the case. Many will disagree, I'm sure. Secondly, we, in today's world, have enough distractions to be able to reflect on our past way of life. I'm sure many of us have childhood memories when grandpa used to do the traditional "pooja"(prayers) that seemed to go on for eternity. I also remember my grandparents were very particular about how things were done. There was no reasoning with them as to why they were done the way they were.

Finally, time is of utmost importance according to today's generation. We do celebrate festivals, but more often than not, it's more of a family get-together rather than following tradition itself. All of our festivals have become more of coming together for a day or two, and then going back to your separate individual existence. We aren't patient enough to go through all procedures for lack of time and more than that, a lack of interest. The rich and vibrant festivals of India are a testimony to our diverse traditions and culture.

becoming an adult & Sensex at 58K plus on verge of becoming an senior citizen. COVID may have rocked global economies beyond repair but has proved to be an boon in disuse for the Indian stock markets which has showed tremendous strength Inspite of extended lockdowns & restrictions. India stands out in the way we handled the COVID by keeping virus figures & casualties in check inspite of our mammoth population of over 140 crores.

The immunity of Indians too seems to be much stronger be it dealing with the pandemic or global financial turmoil due to COVID or terrorism surrounding us. Stock markets certainly are heated at the moment & possibly liquidity driven. Staying away may not be an wise option but caution certainly should be in place with profit

booking along with 'stop loss' options exercised judicially. It is the best chance to churn ones portfolio if you are an long term investor as blue chip companies can be accumulated by selling speculative stocks that have run up too much too soon!

Christians do not force Hindus or Muslims to convert to Christianity There are reports appearing in

newspapers and on television channels that Christians keep converting Hindus and Muslims to Christianity by force. I would like to inform readers that the report is totally false. We Christians do not change the religion of another person, we only change their lives. No Hindu or Muslim is forced or lured to come and pray in the church. They go there out of their own free will because they find peace, serenity and solace there, and also miracles happening in their lives. If they change their religion, it is out of their own free will and not by force.

The pastors of the Protestant and New Life churches only lay their hands on the person's head and prays for his or her healing. But it is our Lord Jesus

Christ and the Holy Spirit who heals the person of his/her disease. The pastor is only an intercessor asking Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit to heal that person.

Credit for the successIndian athlete Sharad Kumar won a

bronze medal in the high jump at the ongoing Para Olympics (Olympics for the disabled) in Tokyo. It is admirable to do so on a global scale, overcoming one's own irony. The key point is the circumstances under which Sharad Kumar got it. Sharad Kumar had injured his knee the day before the final. At that time his father advised him to read 'Srimad Bhagavadgita'. After reading the Bhagavad Gita, he became excited and forgot about his injuries and went to ground. Sharad Kumar attributed his success to the Shrimadbhagavad Gita. This is a slap in the face to those who call Hindu scriptures 'out-dated'. The importance of Shrimadbhagavad Gita was underlined by Sharad Kumar's experience.

Grace of Shri GaneshAccording to the science of

Spirituality, Chaitanya (Divine Consciousness) gets attracted to the Idol of Shri Ganapati in large quantities as a result of meticulously performing ritualistic worship of the Idol during the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi. By immersing the Idol in flowing water, this Chaitanya reaches far and wide with the flowing water and many people benefit from them.

Instead of immersing Ganesh Idol, are you going to hand it over to the atheists who are seeking cheap publicity under the pretext of protecting the environment? Do not invite grave sin by falling prey to the appeal of traitors to Hindu Dharma. If the Ganesh Idol is made from clay, as per the Scriptures, it will protect the environment as well as you will benefit from the grace of Shri Ganesh because of abiding to the Dharma.

“uthanasia refers to deliberately Eending someone's life, usually to relieve suffering. Doctors

sometimes perform euthanasia when it's requested by people who have a terminal illness and are in a lot of pain. It's a complex process and involves weighing many factors.

When a person chooses to end her life because she can no longer live with dignity, the question to be asked is not whether she can waive her constitutional right to life, but whether she has a right to choice. The debate extends to whether the fundamental right to life extends to the right to choice, because, after all, there is no overt act required to be performed to live life. The more abstract jurisprudence content that arises is whether there is a right to choose at all, and if there is, will it govern the right to life or be subservient to it. What is the point in wasting money in treating old-age ailments when one has to eventually die?

Article 21 of the Constitution gives me the right to life, but I also interpret it as giving me the right to take away my life. The right to life includes the right to live with dignity. When you are in pain, that dignity is lost and you are forced to rely on your kith and kin for support. Section 309 of the Indian Penal Code prescribes punishment for attempting suicide. It is an offence, but it should not be one. You could die, but if you survive, you should get counselling, not go to jail.

Passive euthanasia means withdrawing life support to induce death in a natural

Euthanasia effects in society is manifold and these cases are to be taken individually and each case is to be treated with discussion and dignity.”

C K Subramaniam

way. In contrast, active euthanasia means injecting legal drugs to induce death. This is not permitted in India. The Supreme Court is likely to take a decision on living wills in 2018, even as a draft Bill on withdrawal of life support to patients with terminal illness is under consideration. The Bill, however, deals only with terminal illness. This is a complex issue in every society and the chances of its misuse are high. That's why it is not accepted as a way of ending the lives of mentally alert and reasonably healthy persons.

Euthanasia in that form cannot be allowed or legalised because the probability of its misuse — whether it is demanded for property, money, or because of animosity among family members — is very high. Usually such killings are classified as homicide, and if the perpetrators are caught, they are punished. Imagine the consequences of legalising this. There will be no limits to its abuse in India and elsewhere. The decision in favour of euthanasia is far more complex when a person is mentally alert. This brings to my mind a Hindi film about a quadriplegic who seeks death. The court denies his wish. I think that was the right decision.

The right to life is an old debate. When the Supreme Court heard the challenge to the imposition of Emergency, it rejected the argument that in India, the right to life available to a citizen flows from Article 21 of the Constitution, and that if such an Article were to be deleted

Euthanasia effects in the Seniors Societyor suspended, the citizen would have no right to his life under law. The right to life was made more sacrosanct and, over the years, has been seen as a basic feature of the Constitution, thereby making it both fundamental and permanent.

The significance of this is that if one relinquishes the right, one can do so only in accordance with procedure established by law. Imposing death by way of capital punishment is an example of the right to life being terminated in accordance with the procedure established by law. To terminate life, even one's own life, were it to be done without the authority of law, would amount to an unlawful act. In certain cases, it may even be a criminal act. In fact, an attempt to commit suicide is a crime under the IPC.

In the case of terminally ill patients who are provided with expensive health care, whose families know that the patients are unlikely to return to normalcy or near-normalcy, and given the economic burden on the family and on society to treat these patients, euthanasia could be debated. But euthanasia for those who are mentally alert, though physically disabled, is a big no. There is another legal dimension to this debate. Taking away life is often related to the inability of the affected or concerned individual to live with dignity. Euthanasia effects in society is manifold and these cases are to be taken individually and each case is to be treated with discussion and dignity.

The government has also e m p h a s i z e d s i m p l e , unostentatious celebrations, without crowds and strictly following all Covid-19 protocols during the 10 days that mark the state's biggest public festival in which people from all communities participate.

No processions will be permitted for the start of the festival on September 10 or for the 'Visarjan' (immersion) ceremonies on various dates till the final adieu on September 19.

Naresh Dahibavkar, the president of the influential Br ihanmumbai Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Samanvay Samiti (BSGSS) told the Afternoon Voice, "This is very sad and shocking news, continuing two years we are unable to celebrate Ganesh festival. The organizers have sent several letters to the state government but they remained unacknowledged and now suddenly this a one-sided and prejudiced decision has come."

He appealed to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to convene a meeting of the BSGSS and

others in the state to discuss and jointly finalise the norms for the 2021 Ganeshotsav.

There was demand from Ganesh Pandals to allow the big idols to be worshipped and a bio-bubble system to be allowed during the Ganesh festival which the State Govt h a s n o t a g re e d u p o n . According to the guidelines of the state govt, Public Pandals should take appropr iate p e r m i s s i o n f r o m l o c a l authorities. Public Pandal should be limited in size.

The Ganesh Idols height has been restricted at 4 ft for Public and Big Pandals and 2ft for home Idols. In the guidelines, the government has requested people, if possible, worship

Like last year this year also we have seeked a permission of 1 ½ day bappa celebration. The local governing bodies are helping us. Nobody is disturbing us nor we are perturbing anyone. We applied online and got an immediate and urgent response. Following the last years havoc of Corona this year also our Ganeshotsav is on small scale. metal or marble Idols at home or else idols should be made of clay.

Immersion of home idols should be done at home or artificial ponds created by the local authorities. Considering the pandemic situation Govt has asked to conduct health camps and blood donation camps instead of cultural programs. No exemption will be given during the Ganesh festival as all break the chain rules and associated levels will apply to districts. No crowding should happen in Pandals also Big Pandals should keep the facility of Online 'Darshan' via social media or Live streaming. Social distancing should be maintained. The area should be sanitised regularly.

We have planned 7 days Ganeshotsav event in our Mandal office. Since it is indoor we were not restricted. We have huge pandal every year Thousands and thousand of people come for Darshan but past two years it is not on a wider scale. Our Mandal has organized 300 doses of Corona immunization. Sound systems are limited. We have taken permission of Local police Station. We haven't raised fund door to door but open for freewill and goodwill sponsorships. No problems for us with us and from us!

We are unhappy as our Mandal is 90 years old and we have Giant idol. Past two years the idol is 4 ft how can we be happy in this situation. Is this a scenario of happiness.

Immediately stop programmes that attract crowds: CM Thackeray to political parties

aharashtra Chief MMinis ter Uddhav T h a c k e r a y o n

Monday appealed to political parties to immediately stop agitations, meetings, and other programs to avoid crowding in the wake of a slight increase in the number of daily COVID-19 cases in the state.

''We can celebrate festivals later. Let us prioritize the lives and health of our citizens. The situation can go out of hand

because of the spike in daily cases,'' Thackeray said in a statement.

''Who would like to impose restrictions on festivals and re l ig ious programs? But people's lives are important,''

he said. The chief minister said the upcoming festive days were crucial and challenging.

The onus is on political parties to ensure things do not go out of control, he said.

The CM further said the ''third wave of COVID-19 is at our doorsteps''. ''Kerala is seeing a spike of 30,000 cases daily. This is a dangerous signal and if we don't take it seriously, Maharashtra will have to pay a heavy price,'' he added.

Since the past few days, Mumbai has been reporting more than 400 new COVID-19 cases every day, as per official data.

14-year-old girl was Aallegedly abducted from the Pune railway station

area and raped at multiple places in the city in Maharashtra, police said on Monday.

Eight persons, including six autorickshaw drivers and two employees of the Railways, were arrested in connection with the crime.

Wanwadi police station senior inspector Deepak Lagad said a

missing person complaint was registered with the police station earlier. ''During the investigation of the missing person complaint, we traced the girl on Sunday. The girl told the police that she was abducted and raped,'' said Lagad.

The girl left her home on August 31 and came to the Pune railway station from where she was planning to board a train to meet her friend. ''The accused autorickshaw drivers spotted the girl and understood that she was alone. They told her that the train she was looking for would be available the next day. They asked

her to accompany them by promising to make arrangements for her accommodation for the night,'' he added.

The autorickshaw drivers later allegedly sexually assaulted the girl at multiple places in the city, Lagad said quoting the FIR.

''A case is registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. he anger on Javed Akhtar Tdoe not seem to settle down that easy in the BJP

circles. The Konkan Leo of BJP MLA Nitesh Narayan Rane has penned a letterhead on Lyricist Javed Akhtar on his compare remarks of RSS with Talibs. In an official draft he says “Jai Hind! Our motherland 'Bharat Mata' was invaded repeatedly by Moghal-Afghani rulers; who tried to destroy our temples and culture and many invaders stayed back. Due to which many languages, cultures and religions are a part of this country. This motherland with a large heart has accepted and cherished these invaders also and particularly you are aware that Indians have always acclaimed you for your Urdu writing. No Hindu ruler Had never ever attacked any country to propagate Hinduism violently.

Excerpts from Rane's letter adds” Your comparision of Hinduism and the RSS with Taliban terrorism on TV show, looks like a well calculated strategy, acting as a Talibani ambassador, by tactically glorifying their ideology by comparing to Hinduism. I don't know why you have so much hatred towards Hinduism, maybe you have influenza of Communist

secularism and the reason it has allowed other cultures and religious to prosper, this being the reason 'The Constitution of India 'has defined it as a way of life of the Indian people and the Indian cultural ethos. We believe any person who stays in this country accepts it as their fatherland and acknowledges its culture and heroical irrespective of his faith or his way of worshiping his Lord is a 'Hindu': RSS preaches this ideology. The Urdu language in which you have written many of your songs has also been nurtures by Hindu scholars like Raghupati Saya alias Firakh Gorakhpuri, Brijmohan Kaifi, Rajendra Singh Bedi, Upendranath Ashk and many others like them.''

The Junior Rane marked his ink on Akhtar notifying him that “Your ignorance and affection towards the woman's clearly demonstrated by the fact that in your whole life you did not speak on the 'Triple Talaq'

tradition which was treating the Muslim women as nothing but a bonded slave at the mercy of the patriarchy. 'Islamophobia', 'hatred', 'rightwing', fascism are the words you are using to grab the spotlight of the Media and for misleading the poor and common Muslims to spread hatred among them; in your whole life you have done nothing to uplift their socioeconomic status.”

We won’t join politics- Tikaiteading the farmers Lagitation against the three new farm laws will

continue until the Union government fulf i l ls their demands Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait. He said that the new agricultural laws are stifling the farmers slowly unlike COVID which will take life at a one go.

"No one questioned the Yatars organised by the government. The laws made by the g o v e r n m e n t a r e m o r e dangerous than COVID. Pandemic will kill you in one go but the laws of the government will kill people slowly" Tikait said when asked that a huge number of people gathered at the Kisan Mahapanchayat organised by the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha in Muzaffarnagar can turn to super spreader event as COVID infections soar. "The gathering at the Kisan Mahapanchayat at the Muzaffarnagar is proof that people are not satisfied with the work of the government."

Tikait also reiterated that they won't leave the Delhi borders till they win.

The Sanyukt Kisan Morcha's 'Kishan Mahapanchayat' was held at the Government Inter College grounds in Muzaffarnagar.” BKU does not want to join the politics and instead it is in favor of resolving their issues. This comes in response to Union Minister and Muzaffarnagar MP Sanjeev Balyan who had said that if Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) wants to enter politics then the BJP will welcome them.

"We do not want to join politics. We just want the issues of farmers to be resolved. There

are leaders in BJP who are supporting the farmers. The people know who are the leaders not supporting farmers they will react according to it. Balyan should support the farmers like Varun Gandhi and SatyaPal Malik" Tikait clarified.

Bharatiya Janata Party MP from Pilibhit Varun Gandhi had come out in support of protesting farmers and said that the Centre should understand the pain of farmers. Farmers have been protesting on the different borders of the national capital since November 26 last year against the three newly enacted farm laws: Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2 0 2 0 ; t h e F a r m e r s Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and farm Services Act 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020. Farmer leaders and the Centre have held several rounds of talks but the impasse remains. The Tension is eyeing the Central governance as Varun Gandhi is a young and dynamic Hindu face of BJP. Who aspires a challenge to Rahul Gandhi' s UPA rapport.

UN, regional bodies condemn Military coup in Guinea

War in Afghanistan now over, will announce govt in few days, says Taliban

al iban spokesperson TZabiullah Mujahid on Monday said that the war

in Afghanistan is over and an announcement about the f o r m a t i o n o f t h e n e w government will be made in the next few days.

"The war in Afghanistan is over, now we will work together to rebui ld this country," said Mujahid at a press conference in Kabul, as quoted by TOLO News. "A new government will be announced in the next few days," he added.

Earlier in the day, the Taliban had announced that Panjshir became the last Afghan

province to fall under the control of the Taliban. However, resistance forces immediately rejected the claim, saying that their leader Ahmad Massoud will soon make a statement.

During the presser, the Taliban spokesperson informed that technical teams from Qatar, Turkey and the UAE are working to restart operations at Kabul airport. "People should know that the 'invaders' will never reconstruct our country and it is the responsibility of our people to do it themselves."

Over Beijing's role in the reconstruction of the country, Mujahid said The Taliban wants good relations with the world, China is a big economic power and is very important for Afghanistan and much needed support for reconstruction and development.

L a s t w e e k , P a k i s t a n intelligence chief Faiz Hameed took an "emergency" trip to Kabul to reportedly resolve an evolving internal crisis in the

Taliban after reports emerged about a clash between factions in which the group co-founder Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar suffered injuries.

"Pakistan repeatedly asked to visit Kabul and we recently agreed. They are worried about the release of prisoners, those who belong to Pakistan and want to carry out attacks in Pakistan. We assured them that no one will be allowed to threaten any country from Afghanistan," the spokesperson said.

The Taliban, which captured Kabul on August 15, has been delaying the announcement of the government formation in Afghanistan over the past few days.

While the group has not issued a statement over it yet, reports have emerged claiming that the government formation has been delayed due to differences between the Taliban and the Haqqani network over power-sharing.

nternational organizations Isuch as the United Nations (UN), the African Union (AU)

and the Economic Community o f West Af r i can S ta tes (ECOWAS), as well as some governments condemned the military coup in Guinea on Sunday and called for release of the country's president.

Earlier on Sunday, heavy gunfire was heard in the urban c o m m u n e o f K a l o u m , downtown Conakry, in Guinea, where the Presidential Palace and s e ve r a l m in i s t e r i a l departments are located.

In the afternoon, Guinea's Defense Ministry said in an official press release that "the Presidential Guard, supported by the defense and security forces, contained the threat and pushed back the group of insurgents."

However, later in the day,

Lieutenant-Colonel Mamady Doumbouya announced on national television that his forces have arrested President Alpha Conde, and dissolved the government and national institutions.

The country's borders were closed and its constitution was dec la red inva l id in the announcement.

A video posted on social media showed that Conde was surrounded by a group of armed soldiers, but the capturing time and place of the video remain unclear.

UN Sec re ta r y Gene ra l A n t o n i o G u t e r r e s , t h e European Union, the AU and ECOWAS all condemned the coup in Guinea on Sunday and demanded that the rebels release Conde.

Guterres posted on twitter that "I am personally following the situation in Guinea very closely. I strongly condemn any takeover of the government by force of the gun and call for the immediate release of President Alpha Conde."

The 55-member AU also called for an immediate release of Conde in a statement.

Raisi open to 'useful' talks on lifting sanctions

ranian President Ebrahim IRaisi said that his country is ready for “useful” talks

aimed at lifting sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

“We do not oppose useful negotiations, but the plan and result of negotiations must be the lifting of sanctions against Iran,” he said while speaking to h i s F rench coun te rpa r t Emmanuel Macron on Sunday.

This was the second phone conversation between the two leaders within a month.

Besides the nuclear issue, the independence of Iran and France in their policies is a “valuable reserve” that may be used to establish “balanced, strong and stable” ties between the two countries, Raisi told the French President.

Concerning the current situation in Afghanistan, the Iranian president said the US and NATO pol icy of mi l i tary intervention has failed, and 20 years of occupation have had no benefit for the Afghan people.

The Green Visa holders can sponsor their parents and children up to the age of 25 on their permits

AE launches ‘green Uvisas’ in a bid to target investors, highly skilled

workers. The move comes in a bid to target investors and

highly skilled workers as well as students and graduates. The Green Visa holders can sponsor their parents and children up to the age of 25 on their permits.

The steps are being taken to attract talent and boost growth.

The UAE government will allow people who lost their jobs to remain in the UAE for up to 6 months which is an incentive as most visas are tied to employment contacts. It has allowed hiring of temporary workers above the age of 15 in a bid to loosen the job market.

Foreign residents form 80% of the population of the UAE and are intrinsic to the economy of the country for the past few decades. Foreign nationals work in the private sector and contribute to the economy by buying property or by shopping in some of the largest malls in the world.

Dashty had refused the offer of joining the government with the Talibanhe spokesperson of the Tanti-Taliban resistance in Panjshir was killed in a

fierce gunfight on Sunday. Just days ago, Fahim Dashty, chief spokesperson of the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan (NRFA), had told media "If we die, history will write about us, as people who stood for their country till the end of the line".

According to NRFA, Dashty was killed during firing in Panjshir province on Sunday,

Dashty had refused the offer of joining the government with the Taliban, saying the forces are prepared to die to ensure a good future for the people in the war-torn country. Fahim Dashty had been one of the main sources of updates from the area as the Taliban pressed in on Afghan forces, issuing a series of defiant statements on Twitter, vowing that the Resistance would continue.

The Afghan Resistance has

now welcomed proposals from re l ig ious scholars for a negotiated settlement to end

the fighting. Ahmad Massoud, head of the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan (NRFA),

made the announcement on the group's Facebook page.

"If we succeed in our goals to ensure the rise of people of Afghanistan, to ensure a future for the people of the country, for our nation to establish a government, a system which will be responsive to the needs of the people of Afghanistan, legitimate in front of Afghanistan and the international community and so on and so forth," Dashty told NDTV in an interview last week.

2021 IAA: Mercedes-Benz EQG Concept is an electric G-Wagon in the makingt the world premiere of Athe current generation Mercedes-Benz G-Class

in 2018, the company had made the claim that an all-electric version of the off-road icon was in the making. Well, more than three and a half years later, we finally get to see the Concept EQG. It is of course the near-production version of the 4x4, but it gives us a glimpse into what to expect.

ExteriorThe exterior appearance of

the Mercedes-Benz off-road legend has changed only marginally over the last 4 decades and the Concept EQG is also very much in the design tradition of the model series and can be recognised at first glance as a G-Class. The near-production study adopts the G-Class' angular si lhouette including its iconic elements.

Illuminated stripes make the

robust exterior protective strips s tand out v i sua l l y. The separat ing edge of the attractive two-tone paint finish - gloss black on top, gloss aluminium beam on the bottom - runs in the area of the front end directly under the overlying bonnet, thus emphasising this design feature even more clearly.

Instead of a radiator grille, as on the conventionally powered model versions, this all-electric variant features a continuous deep black radiator grille.

The front view of the Concept EQG looks familiar, not least because of the typical round headlights. Instead of a radiator grille, as on the conventionally powered model versions, this all-electric variant features a continuous deep black radiator grille. In this black panel grille, the illuminated star with 3D effect sets a striking accent.

Suspension And GearboxThe Concept EQG is clearly a

"G" not only in terms of design, but also because of its inner v a l u e s , m a k i n g i t a n uncompromising off-roader. Its body is also based on the robust ladder frame. The chassis design remains extremely off-road capable, as is typical of the G-Class: with independent suspension on the front axle and a rigid axle at the rear, newly developed for the integration of the electric drive. With four electric motors close to the wheels and individually controllable, the vehicle will o f f e r u n i q u e d r i v i n g characteristics both on- and off-road. As with any real 4x4, the Concept EQG's off-road reduction can be activated via a shiftable 2-speed gearbox in order to meet the high "G"-specific off-road requirements.

The design advantages of the

electric drive also play into its favour, making it ideally suited for off-road vehicles and ambitious off-road operations. The batteries integrated into the ladder frame ensure a low centre of gravity.

Since the electric motors provide their maximum torque

practically with the first revolution, an all-electric off-road vehicle like the Concept EQG and the later production model boast enormous pulling power and controllability - which also proves to be an advantage on steep slopes and deep terrain.

Hyundai's Genesis brand to launch only EVs from 2025

yunda i ' s premium Hluxury brand Genesis has announced that it

will introduce only electric vehicles in the market from 2025 onwards.

Following the market launches of the all-electric G80 saloon and GV60 crossover in 2022, the marque will 'focus on a dual electrification strategy involving fuel cell and battery-electric vehicles', launching its final combustion vehicle in 2030.

Genesis itself does not yet sell a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, but parent company Hyundai currently sel ls the Nexo crossover, and has promised that hydrogen will continue to play a central role in its electrification strategy in the coming years. So, it is natural that Genesis will follow suit.

Genesis recently unveiled the GV60 as its first bespoke electric car. It shares its E-GMP platform with Hyundai's Ioniq 5 and the Kia EV6, unlike the G80 Electrified, which is an adapted

version of the combustion-fuelled G80's architecture.

Beyond its 2025 goal, Genesis is also seeking to become entirely carbon-neutral by 2035; becoming the first Hyundai group brand to set a deadline for achieving this ambition. It will innovate its entire value chain, changing the way it sources and constructs raw materials, vehicles and parts at all facilities.

Currently, the brand has four models on sale globally and has four more in the pipeline. Its all-electric line-up will eventually comprise e ight separate models, and Genesis plans to sell 4,00,000 units per year.

We had reported back in 2019 that Genesis was looking to enter the Indian market, with the first model set to be an SUV. The brand currently has two SUVs on sale in global markets – the GV80 and the Hyundai Tucson-based GV70 – though it's not yet known which could be the first to arrive.

2022 BMW G310 GS to receive new paint scheme, soon to launch in India

MW Motorrad India Bconfirmed the 2022 BMW G310 GS will soon

receive an update, which will essentially be a cosmetic update. The cosmetic update on the 2022 BMW G310 GS will be a new paint scheme, called Triple Black, which was revealed internationally a while back. Apart from this, the 2022 BMW G310 GS will remain exactly the same with the BS6 engine carried forward. The 2022 BMW G310 GS in new paint scheme will be offered at a premium over the standard version, which retails at Rs 3 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

The 2022 BMW G310 GS Triple Black in cosmic black paint scheme gets silver-finished on radiator shrouds and rear section as well as golden upside-down forks. The GS logo is painted in grey, while the rest of the body is wrapped in fully blacked-out paint. The new paint scheme will be the only substantial update on the 2022 model, which received its first major upgrade back in 2020 when the motorcycle underwent BS6 conversion. The rest of the body panels and wheels are exactly like on the 2022 G310 GS. In terms of equipment, BMW updated the

motorcycle with an LED headlamp and integrated DRL, while the turn indicators and tail lamps are LEDs too. The motorcycle also gets adjustable levers, for an ergonomic fit. The G 310 GS sports an LCD, full-digital display.

Powering the 2022 BMW G 310 GS will be the same fuel-injected, BS6 313cc, liquid-cooled, single cylinder engine t h a t d e v e l o p s 3 4 b h p @ 9 , 5 0 0 r p m a n d 2 8 N m @7,500rpm. Nissan to launch electric car for Japan in 2022issan announced it plans Nto start sales of an all-new, all-electric mini-

vehicle in Japan in early 2022. The vehicle is part of a joint project with Mitsubishi and is being planned and developed by a Nissan-Mitsubishi joint venture. The planned electric mini-vehicle is aimed to redefine the popular car category in Japan, featur ing instant acceleration, smooth driving, and a quiet cabin. It will also come available with a variety of advanced t e chno log i e s , including driver assistance technologies.

With a battery capacity of

20kWh, Nissan says the new electric car has enough range to cover daily needs. In addition, the vehicle can provide electricity from its battery to a home and, in emergencies, can act as a mobile power source as well. At 3,395mm long, 1,475mm wide, and 1,655mm high, the Nissan electric mini-vehicle is designed to provide effortless driving and handling in Japan's cramped traffic environments. The electric car is said to be available at 2 million yen (approx. Rs 13.28 lakh).

Since 2010, Nissan has sold more than 500,000 units of

the all-electric Nissan Leaf globally, with more than 150,000 sold solely in Japan. As part of its broader initiatives to contribute to a sustainable society, Nissan is carrying out a Japan-focused electrification program called Blue Switch, within which it aims to tackle issues such as environmental load reduction and disaster countermeasures. Nissan will continue to develop electrified technologies and expand its lineup of electrified models, aiming for every all-new model introduced in key markets to be electrified by the early 2030s.

Where do Private Sector Banks stand?ublic Sector Banks Popened Branches in villages including some

remote villages too. There were no Buildings. Bank Managers lived in Huts . Public Sector Banks have been giving Loans to Farmers, Fishermen, Autoriksha Drivers, Riksha Pullers, Gold Loans to Common Men. Priority sector lending, lending to those practicing Aquaculture , Agriculture, Seri Culture, Beekeeping etc.

Public sector Banks played a Remarkable Role in Socio Economic Development in the Country.

Where do Private Sector Banks stand?

I pity at the Union Governments lack of insight into the Social Banking of Public Sector Banks. The self-help groups concept became very successful.

I served Indian banks all over the country for more than 3 decades in Delhi Bangalore and Hyderabad zones.

Whenever Engineering Colleges announce admissions we used to open the Fee collection counters and carry the cash to the Branches and keep the cash in a safe in the Strong Room by Mid Night. Can you think of such services in Private Sector Banks?

When Pensioners could not submit Life Certificates we used to go to their houses to say hello and collect Life Certificates and credit the Pension Amount to their Savings Accounts.

Sense of belongingness at its height.

Customers used to come to us to say hello to us even though there is no Bank transaction on that day. Can anyone imagine such a service? It is quite painful to hear privatization of Public Sector Banks. It is like killing the cow after enjoying the milk for long.

When the Bank incurred a huge loss in 1996 we made

Strategic Changes and start earning profits within a few years. It was a Land Mark in Banking in India. Strategic Changes can improve the performance of any organization.

I suggest the Ministry of Finance interact with Mrs. Ranjana Kumar restructured and made the turnaround of the Bank possible.

Let us not be in haste in privatizing Banks, at least.

This is my Humble attempt and effort to impress upon the Press , Public, and more importantly the Union Government ( especially Modiji )

he idea of a National THigher Education Regulatory Council as

an apex control organisation is bound to be resented by States. Similarly, a national body for aptitude tests would have to convince the States of its merits. Among the many imperatives, the deadline to achieve universal literacy and numeracy by 2025 should be a top priority as a goal that will crucially determine progress at higher levels.

Global efforts to universalise basic education have achieved a milestone in terms of attitudinal transformation: Practically every community, or people, is not only willing but also keen to send its wards to school. It severely contrasts with the erstwhile tradition amongst most people in most developing countries, India included, which were averse to schooling, particularly sending girls to school. The global literacy percentage for all males and females is 90 and 82.7.

It took more than 60 years to reach the current situation when, on any day, over one billion children should be attending schools. In this encouraging scenario, however, there are several challenges. According to an estimate, 11 per cent of primary school children and 20 percent of lower-secondary children are not in schools. Further, there are more non-learners in schools than outside schools. Access and participation deserve continuous attention and

streamlining but the biggest challenge is to ensure learning in schools, and transform each one into a learning school. The insistence on learning, and not mere schooling, is no more the concern of academics and educationists alone.

The NEP-2020 is conscious of this new responsibility. To imbibe learning, the learner requires a conducive environment. Clean premises, mid-day meals, appropriate equipment, drinking water and sanitation arrangements are a must, but most important is the “Teacher”, and her/his own holistic learning and the values that were internalised at the teacher preparation institute. The transition from mere teaching to learning is a major advancement towards the knowledge society. It finds place in most of the dynamic education policies, and NEP-2020 is explicit about it. It will have significant implications towards evaluation and examination reforms.

The pandemic created unforeseen challenges before global education policies and systems. The most daunting among these is the prevailing uncertainty on how long it would take to arrive at the normal mode of face-to-face schooling. The

policy makers were busy finalising the new policy (after 34 years) when the pandemic struck. It was evident that education systems have to remain ever alert to such unforeseen exigencies; NEP-2020 has several indications on alternative strategies, including embedded learning, which came as a great support when children were confined home.

Interestingly, what could have taken a couple of more years in utilising digital on large technologies in education was achieved in months, the remotest places not excluded. India salutes its teachers, who promptly familiarised themselves with new gadgets and techniques. The challenge appears in its enormity in most of the Government schools that function with deficiencies and inadequacies. They are to be converted into learning

schools. And they require an active, alert and

conscious work culture transformation. The teachers and teacher training institutions shall have to

walk the extra mile, make such

changes in the

totality of the institutional

functioning in the light of the most prominent principle of education.

Every child is blessed with

two boons at the time of birth; the

power of ideas and the power of imagination.” No child is discriminated against on this count. It is the transplanted system of education that has enslaved us in a system that makes every endeavour to impede the nourishment of ideas and imagination. One must hasten to add that even earlier, the importance of “learning” was pointed out in learned academic discourse, but in practice the system’s rigidity prevailed and not much came out of it.

Now that NEP-2020 has proposed organisational and structural changes of far-reaching consequences, the shift towards learning and an entirely new approach in the assessment of learning attainments becomes a fait accompli. The learning canvas shall have to be explored very cautiously. Learning to learn, and lifelong learning, would become the life-sustaining assets of every citizen to meet the concerns being faced nationally, and globally. Immediately after adopting the global agenda for the sustainable development goals including SDG-4 (“Ensure inclusive and

equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all” by 2030) in 2015, India turned its attention to prepare a response education policy.

The NEP-2020 was put to the toughest of tests. The pandemic also showed how a school becomes a learning school. Innumerable schools and teachers have responded through morally sound, ethically inspiring and culturally conducive initiatives. One must also add that the inspiration and motivation that emerged from NEP-2020 has played a great part as it has prepared teachers for transformation. It has revealed to them that every school can become a learning centre, adored and supported by one and all.

Policymakers and administrators have been struggling unsuccessfully with some of these issues for years. A major challenge policymakers will continue to face is how to differentiate the benevolent philanthropic private sector from undesirable but powerful market forces in the education sector and regulate the entry and growth of the latter.

Every child is blessed with

two boons at the time of birth; the

power of ideas and the power of imagination.”

Mrunal Thakur joins the cast of Bhushan Kumar, Murad Khetani's Hindi remake of 'Thadam'

Richa Chadha wants all-female crew for maiden production venture

Bollywood actor Mrunal Thakur has joined the star cast of the Hindi

remake of Tamil hit 'Thadam'. She will be acting in the upcoming film opposite the previously announced lead Aditya Roy Kapur. The 'Toofaan' actor, who has various remarkable characters to her credit, for the first time will be seen playing the role of a strong-headed cop.

Based on true events, this yet to be titled thriller directed by Vardhan Ketkar and produced by Bhushan Kumar and Murad Khetani will go on floors in October this year. Talking

about joining the film's team, Mrunal shared, "When I heard the story of the film, I instantly knew that I needed to be a part of this film. My character

is very intriguing and playing a cop has been on my checklist. This will be a very distinct role from all the characters I have played till now and I am looking forward to audiences watching this one."

Producer Bhushan Kumar talked about bringing Mrunal on board for the film and said, "When

Murad Bhai and I were discussing the cop's character, we instantly thought of Mrunal. She has chosen many interesting roles in her films

and also stood out with her performances in them. We thought that she would be perfect for this character and we are glad she is equally excited to be a part of this." Khetani also talked about how Mrunal was perfect for the role and continued, "We wanted someone who has a soft personality but could put on a strong face when needed. During my discussion with Bhushanji, we instantly thought of Mrunal for the role. When we approached her with this character, she was excited and quickly came on board. We are looking forward to working with her."

This Hindi remake of 'Thadam' is being produced by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series and Murad Khetani's Cine1 Studios. The original film was directed by Magizh Thirumeni. Apart from this, the producer duo, Kumar and Khetani, has announced multiple big projects, including the Kartik Aaryan-starrer 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2' and Sandeep Vanga's next directorial venture 'Animal' starring Ranbir Kapoor.

Actress Richa Chadha aspires to have an all-female crew with her

maiden production venture 'Girls Will Be Girls', where women can showcase the best of their abilities in front of and behind the camera.

Richa said: “It's always refreshing that a story centred around a feminist story is told by the voices of women. It's always exciting and we have seen so many such examples in films and it's always refreshing when these stories are told by a female voice.”

'Girls Will Be Girls', directed by Shuchi Talati, will be produced through the banner Pushing Button Studios, Crawling Angel Films, Dolce Vita Films, France.

Set in a Himalayan boarding school in a hill station in northern India, the plot of the film revolves around the coming of age of a 16-year-old girl and her relationship with her mother.

Richa added: “Ours is an effort in that direction. It has become increasingly important today to acknowledge women's representation in the business of films, and I feel great over the years to have known some amazing talent across filmmaking departments and am looking forward to working with many more through the course of this film.”

Actress Penelope Cruz tackles stress with meditationscar winning actress OPenelope Cruz uses transcendental

meditation to minimise stress and face life struggles.

The Spanish star first experimented with meditation when she was a teenager but she started taking it seriously to decompress from her film sets and to ease any worries she may have, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

Cruz said: “I practiced meditation as a teenager, I stopped for a while, then I took the transcendental meditation courses and I chose to dedicate myself to it.”

The actress, who has two children — son Leo and daughter Luna, with actor husband Javier Bardem, is always busy with her career and family and wants to devote herself as much as she can to her children.

Her mother Encarna keeps telling her to take more time out for herself, despite never taking that advice herself when Encarna was raising the 'Nine' star and her siblings.

Speaking to Italian publication IO Donna, Cruz

said: “I have a trait that I inherited from my mother, who was equally demanding with herself: she was very busy and yet — very generous — she managed to give everything to her three children. Now she says to me: you have to relax, you have to rest, you have to find time for yourself”.

Cruz will have spent 30 years working as an actress and she has to pinch herself each day that her childhood dream came true.

She said: “Acting was my dream since I was — maybe — two years old. A dream that does not bore: with each role you start from scratch. So I think: thank you!”
