IBRI College of Technology
Ibri College of Technology is one of the Regional Colleges of Technology under the Ministry of Manpower in Oman, alongside with Musanna, Nizwa, Ibra, Salalah, and Shinas in addition to the Higher College of Technology in Muscat.
Ibri College of Technology is the youngest among the other five Regional Colleges of Technology in Oman, students studying in various programs. The college accepted its first intake in September of 2007 for the foundation program.
The programs offered in Regional Colleges of Technology is of the same academic standards approved and monitored by experienced educators in the Higher College of Technology (HCT) in Muscat to ensure that students need in the industry and globally is sustained.
The Foundation Program comprises of four levels; pre elementary, elementary, intermediate and advanced level. Four semesters or less is spent depending on the student’s level on their assessment test as one of the entry requirement of the college. As students’ progress they would move from one level to another based on their performance. Upon completion of their foundation year, they can proceed to the Diploma level in their chosen specialization and then to the next level; Higher Diploma. Each level offers a fulfilling experience for all students that would guarantee them enough skills to enable them to compete in the industry.
Our New Engineering building will support the additional laboratories needed and two workshops. There would also be thirty more rooms being constructed in this site and expected to be fully operational for the next school year in 2012 to accommodate the enthusiastic group of engineering students. The college has a group of dedicated staff members from Academic departments and administrative division who are all facilitating to promote a conducive educational environment for all the students.
The College has four Academic departments: English Language Center, Engineering, Information Technology, and Business.
Information Technology Department
The Information Technology Department program supports the mission of Ibri College of Technology by providing preparation in information technology to enable its students to succeed in using computer technology to solve problems faced by individuals and organizations and to keep up with emerging technology and its uses.
Our IT program courses enables students to solve problems using their knowledge of computer technology along with their reasoning skills, their ability to gather information, and their ability to effectively communicate their proposed solutions with a variety of audiences.
The program enables students to appreciate the impact of their solutions and decisions and to continue their education independently. The information technology curricula are designed to be of use to students with a wide variety of interests involving computers and computing.
Courses are offered in computing fundamentals, computer programming, systems analysis, and computing applications. Our programs are designed for students who intend to enter the computing professions in jobs such as System Analysts, Programmer/Analysts, or Web Specialists, as well as for those who intend to be a Business Computing Specialists.
