Performance bonds
Gateway provides through our Bank performance contract bonds for all our rural electrification construction projects. The bonds are valid for a year and cover any loss or damage to materials during construction. Work programs
Prior to construction of the line, GCEA provides the employer with a program showing the general methods, arrangements, order and timing for all activities in the works.Project management meetings
GCEA holds regular meetings with REA to review the plans for the remaining works. It is during these meetings that issues of variations (if any) of works and other pertinent issues are discussed.Certificates of works
7
GCEA operates under the following terms of works; 30% payments receipts upon completion of the medium voltage line (HT),60% upon completion of the works(HT/LV) and commissioning of the project by Kenya Power & Lighting Engineers and finally the remaining 10% after the expiry of the defects liability period. AFTER SERVICE SALES SERVICE AND PARTS REPLACEMENT
We provide a very efficient service and maintainance of all our projects within the six months defects liability period for powerline construction. For solar water heating and solar panels we provide twenty five (25yrs) warranty on our equipment (see our warranty certificate online). TRAINING
GCEA solar center runs a Plumbers training program three times a week, the purpose of this program is to familiarise them with the installation techniques and maintenance of the GW solar water heating systems. Issuance of training certificates is done upon completion of the one week training.

4.3 SOLAR ENERGY:
GCEA Solar energy systems include;Solar technicians training at our training unit,Project survey works, design, plumbing works, installation, service and distribution of the following products:
Solar Panels Solar Off Grid systems Solar Grid connected systems Solar Inverters & Controllers Solar Batteries Pressurized Solar water heating systems Solar Lanterns Solar Street lights Hybrid solar systems - Solar & Wind energy integrated
systems Solar Water Heating Systems - Adding Value To Your Home
Eco-friendly homes fetch more money on the property market and the demand for sustainable houses is constantly increasing. In fact, most new homes in Kenya today must now meet sustainability standards. For further details please visit our website; http://www.gatewayenergyafrica.com/solarwaterheating/solarwaterheaterpolicy.html . By installing Solar water heating system in your home, you can make your house and institution more energy efficient and significantly increase its sustainability rating; in turn increasing its resale value.
Solar water heating projects:
10
Installation of solar water heating systems in 22 individual residential projects around Kenya.
Design of Solar water heating systems for hotels and resorts. Supply and install 200L Solar water heating systems at Pine
Wood City estate,Athi River 110 units (2012/13). Prepared a proposal for an integrated water heating system
for the second largest Pharmaceutical firm in kenya. Prepared a proposal and design for installation of 69 solar
water systems for Kenyatta National Hospital (largest referral hospital in Kenya).
Wind Energy Prefeasibility study:
Contracted to do the Wind Pre-feasibility studies in Limuru,Kenya for ENBW (a power utility company in Germany.
Contracted to carry out a Participatory rural private sector/community awareness activity for the local communities in Limuru to enlighten them on how the joint partnership of the wind energy project with ENBW will work.
5. ACHIEVEMENT
The Company was appointed as a contractor of the Rural Electrification Authority ( R.E.A ). The Company accomplished the task to the satisfaction of both REA and Kenya Power and Lighting Company. During their inspection of the power lines they noted that the workmanship was of very high standards and GCEA was awarded the position of the “Best Contractor of the Year 2010. The format of report writing that GCEA has developed has now been adopted by the Authority as a sample for other Contractors to emulate.

Rural Youth Development Program (currently being developed)
After several years of working with the community in providing Rural electrification in various centers, markets etc., Gateway energy is establishing information centers managed by the local community Youths to disseminate information through use of computers (solar/electricity) to improve their communities quality of life. The centers will provide current information on :
Land use and environmental management - for farmers to understand weather patterns, climate change, information on investment in crops and measures and process output
Small and medium sized enterprises – Provide appropriate information on access of local and international markets and investment resources
17
Health – information on adolescent health , sexuality, preventative health care, curative medicine and common strategies for addressing these needs.
