(3 squares) **Read 20 min. nightly/SIGN Next ½ day is Friday, 9/15. Pickup time is 11:35. We will be off Thursday, Sept. 21st and Friday, Sept. 22nd, for Fall Break. NO SCHOOL. Please look ahead for that, as it shortens our weeks for the next couple of weeks. Please note that we are beginning our “Frederick, Nightly Writing,” where Words Their Way (spelling) Please remember that we sort and work on our “SPELLING”/Words Their Way lists each night. The parent check sheet will guide you. Do the top side the 1 st week and the reverse side the 2 nd week. Our test is EVERY 2-3 WEEKS. We have groups working on 4 levels so far this year. . Please note that we are beginning our “Frederick, Nightly Writing,” where individual students bring home our class mouse and write in a journal about what they do with him. Watch for your child’s turn.

Social Studies

We will continue to classify animals into animal categories: reptiles, mammals, birds, fish, amphi-bians, insects) . Ask your child tell you an animal in each category and have them give you a characteristic of that classification group.

Math We continue to work on adding numbers to 20. We will sometimes do this with words problems and in simple addition sentences. We will also be able to tell if two addition sentences are equal (have the same answer). Refer to the Engage New York/Eureka math website Module 1 lessons 20-24, for hints on strategies used. https://www.engageny.org
