Every day we make around 2,000 updates to our Nautical Charts by integrating Notices to Mariners, new publications, our own surveys, research and reports from our users. These updates include: coastline and contour improvements, buoy changes and sand bar shifts, newly marked rocks and submerged structures, new points of interest and much more. Additional thousands of updates per day come from SonarCharts™ and Community Edits.

Navionics cards include free Freshest Data for the first year from purchase allowing to obtain all these updates. Lowrance, Simrad and B&G plotters record logs by default from day one. As long as they are left recording, all you need to do is export the logs to a card and upload them to Navionics to get greatly enhanced SonarCharts™. Garmin customers can record sonar logs with their plotters and upload to Navionics to improve SonarCharts™. Results can be seen on the SonarCharts™ card, which is a product customized for Garmin plotters. Furthermore, they can be seen on mobile devices, PC and web. At navionics.com/plotter-tutorial, you will find tutorials to record sonar logs with multiple models of Garmin.

Sonar logs may be recorded on a blank memory card or a Navionics card if space is available. Size 1GB corresponds to about 1 hour recording. At navionics.com/plotter-tutorial, you will find tutorials to record sonar logs with multiple models of Humminbird.

All Raymarine units issued since 2003 can record sonar logs in either SDF, GPX or NMEA formats. We suggest using SDF because it allows better results (available with Lighthouse II R10 or more recent).Enable sonar logging from MENU > PRESENTATION > DEPTH & CONTOURS > Sonar Logs ON. Wi-Fi enabled units can also upload through the free Plotter Sync feature (see next page).
