Vietnam and Laos review fight against drug crime
PANO The Vietnamese Border Guard Command (VBGHC), in association with the General
Department of Police of the Lao Ministry of Security (GDPLMS), held a conference to review the
038Av and 041Av cases of fighting drug crime.
Major General Hoang Xuan Chien, Commander of VBGHC, and Major General Sisavath
Keomalavong, Chief of GDPLMS, co-chaired the conference.

On this occasion, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Cung, Deputy Defense Minister, sent a
letter to praise the participating units.
At 11.30 am on March 12th in That Muang village, Xam Neua town, Houaphan province, Laos,
Vietnams Border Guards of Thanh Hoa and Son La provinces, and Northern task force, and the
General Department of Police of the Lao Ministry of Security worked together to bust the 038Av and
041Av drug cases, arrested 4 Lao suspects, and seized 16kg of cocaine, 20 heroin cakes, 3 pistols,
48 bullets, and other evidence.
The combined forces have broken a Xam Neua town drug network which transported drugs from
Laos Houaphan province to Vietnams Thanh Hoa and Son La provinces.
The success of the cases demonstrated close coordination and solidarity between relevant forces of
Vietnam and Laos, contributing to maintaining social order and safety in the border areas.
At the meeting, leaders of the two sides presented certificates of merit to 2 groups and 5 individuals
for their outstanding achievements in preventing drug crimes.
