Mr. Quinn - I want to personally thank Mr. Hayes for his wonderfulleadership during his interim period. You did a Great Job! Also,thanks to the Principals and Faculty for the TAKS scores. Hopefully,we will do as well or better on the other testing. I wish Steve Byrdwould have stayed a little longer, he deserves an ATTA BOY! Theyhave stepped up the collection process and we are seeing a change in

the numbers. Also, I want to thank Sally Kirkpatrick for the Updatehandout. There are always so many students listed and theiraccomplishments and students are MY highlight!

Mr. Camp - I echo the thank you to Mr. Hayes and the entire staff, weare part of a team and we all work together to help each other. Thankyou. I am very proud of our District schools, it is great to see thestudents excel and represent our District so highly. Dr. Burns -Welcome to our District, we are certainly glad you are here.

Mr. Houston - Thank you to Ms. Gier for the wonderful TAKS TestScore Report - These kids will be our leaders for tomorrow. I want tothank Mr. Hayes for his job well done during his tenure as Interim. Ialso want to thank Dr. Burns for accepting the position ofSuperintendent for the Vidor Independent School District. I want torecognize Ms. Munoz and thank her for all the work she does.

Mrs. Sarver - Congratulate the Junior High students who participatedin the 22-AAAA UIL Academic Literary Meet and took 1st Place.Congratulations! I would also like to congratulate the Middle SchoolOdyssey of the Minds Team for placing first. Out of 36 school districtswho participated in UIL Solo/Ensemble Competition, the Vidor JuniorHigh School Band came in 2ndplace. CONGRATULATIONS to all ourstudents!

Mr. Kilmer - I went to Disney World with the Vidor High School Bandduring Spring Break and when I saw the Vidor Pirate Marching BandBanner and heard the Band playing - you cannot imagine how proud Ifelt. It was just amazing. Then I went into a Gift Shop and saw theBlack and Gold M & M's and I just had to bring some home to all of youespecially Mr. Harland. It was a great trip and we have a great Band.

Mr. Sonnier - It is a honor to have the principals here tonight. I want tothank Mr. Hayes for serving as Interim Superintendent during theSuperintendent Search. We are very impressed with all theaccomplishments of the CATE Students and their Director - PennySingleton.

The Board adjourned at 7:45 p.m., to take a break and will convene into theExecutive Session at 8:00 p.m.

Motion by Mr. Quinn, seconded by Mr. Camp, to approve the employment ofDana Neely as the Nurse at Vidor Elementary. Those Voting For: Mr. Sonnier,Mr. Kilmer, Mr. Camp, Mr. Houston, Mr. Quinn, and Mrs. Sarver. Those Absent:Mr. Harland. Those Abstaining: None. Those Voting Against: None.MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY

Motion by Mr. Quinn, seconded by Mr. Kilmer, to move that employmentcontracts for 2009-2010 for the following teachers assigned to federally-fundedprograms be proposed for non-renewal. However, if those positions are fundedfor next school year, the persons named would be offered one-year contracts:Tammy Einkauf,Lindsey McAlpin, Louveria Kozlowski and Nikki Doyen,

Motion amended to read:

Motion by Mr. Quinn, seconded by Mr. Kilmer, that motion read that instead ofnon-renewing the positions to renew the contracts as long as funding is availableand/or reassigned. Those Voting For: Mr. Sonnier, Mr. Kilmer, Mr. Camp, Mr.Houston, Mr. Quinn, and Mrs. Sarver. Those Absent: Mr. Harland. ThoseAbstaining: None. Those Voting Against: None.MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY

Motion by Mr. Quinn, seconded by Mr. Kilmer, to approve the recommendationsto renew contracts of employees as presented by the Administration. ThoseVoting For: Mr. Sonnier, Mr. Kilmer, Mr. Camp, Mr. Houston, Mr. Quinn, andMrs. Sarver. Those Absent: Mr. Harland. Those Abstaining: None. ThoseVoting Against: None.MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY

Motion by Mr. Kilmer, seconded by Mr. Quinn, to approve four (4) District-WideCurriculum Specialist positions (Elementary Reading LA/Social Studies andElementary Math/Science; Secondary ELA/Social Studies and SecondaryMath/Science) to report to the Superintendent of Schools. Those Voting For: Mr.Sonnier, Mr. Kilmer, Mr. Camp, Mr. Houston, Mr. Quinn, and Mrs. Sarver. ThoseAbsent: Mr. Harland. Those Abstaining: None. Those Voting Against: None.MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY

Motion by Mrs. Sarver, seconded by Mr. Houston, to move that Mr. DannyReynolds' resignation of employment, effective August 14, 2009, be accepted;that as a result his term contract, which expires June 30, 2009, will not be

During the remaining period of his employment, Mr. Reynoldswill serve as Administrative Assistant for Personnel and Curriculum, assigned tothe Central Office, and work under the supervision of Assistant SuperintendentsWillie Hayes and Johnny Ross.
