Introduction

The topic that I chose for my Multi Genre project is Video Games. I chose this topic

because I enjoy playing video games and play them often. I thought it would be cool to learn

more about why people play them, the different types of games, and what types of

computer specs you need to play the games on different graphics settings. The choices that

I made for the genres are: Genre 1 - Descriptions of different types of video games, Genre 2

- Information about computer specs that you need in order to run games on low, medium,

and high graphics, Genre 3 - My personal experience playing video games, Genre 4 - A

news article about the highest grossing video game (World of Warcraft), Genre 5 – Comic

strips related to playing video games. I used random facts about video games for my

repetends.

Different types of games

Since the video game industry was created, it has slowly been growing and

expanding. In today’s day and age video games play a large part in the life of many people

all over the world. They spend many hours a day playing video games that they love. Today

I am here to talk about the many different types of games that people play. One of the most

popular types of games to play is action games. Many popular games fall under this

category such as shooting games and fighting games. Also, other popular category games

are MMO (massively multiplayer online games), MOBA (games like league of legends and

dota2), and Sports (FIFA 15, 2k15, Football games, NHL games, etc). People spend so

many hours on these games to improve their ranks, play with their friends, or just to pass

the time. Some other game categories that are not as popular but still played by people are

Survival games, Strategy games, and Role-playing games. Those are the 10 major

categories of games that are played.

Video Game Fact #1: The super mushrooms in Mario are based on fungi named amanita muscaria. They make the user feel as though they are growing in size. This effect was also referenced in Alice in wonderland.

In order to run games on very high quality at the best fps, you will need a very good computer. Here are some parts that your computer will need. For a processor, you want to get a Core i7-4790k which can run up to 4.6 gHz. For the motherboard you want to get a Gigabyte GA-z97X-UD5H Black. For a video card you want to get the MSI GeForce GTX 980 Gaming 8GB. For RAM make sure you pick up 8 to 16 GB and a strong cooling system.

Video Game Fact #2: The biggest map in any video game belongs to the Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall. It’s 62,394 square miles. This is over 4000 times larger than the map in the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Computer Parts

Most games today have options to changethe graphics settings on the games you play. This allows people with different types of computers to play games, evenif they can’t run the max settings on the game. In order to run most games at lowquality, you will need a computer like this.For a processor, you want to get a Core i5-4690k which can run up to 3.6 gHz.For the motherboard you want to get a Intel H81 Express Chipset. For a graphicsCard you want to get a NVidia GeForce GTX960. You also want to make sure to pick upsome type of cooling system so your PCdoes not overheat, and at least 4 gigabytesof ram to ensure that your games can runsmoothly.

If you want to run the games at higher fpsor with better graphics, you will need a bettercomputer listed than the one above. Here are some of the specs that you will need in orderto do this. My Experience playing video games

Throughout my life I have always liked computers, and I have played a lot of video games.

They range from console games, to handheld device, to games on the PC. When I was in

middle school and 9th grade one of my favorite games to play was World of Warcraft.

Shortly after I began playing I was addicted. I had many friends to play the game with and

overall it was very fun. I began to level up and after a while I finally reached level 90 (max

level at the time). Once you reach this level you unlock new things such as dungeons and

raids. You can choose to go through these alone, or with a party. Raids normally require 10

or 25 people and are the hardest things to do in the game. Throughout my experience

playing I did a lot of dungeons and raids, which allows you to get new items for your

character and is very entertaining. I think these games are popular because of the end-

game content and the player interaction. While playing these games you meet a lot of nice

people, and can do many different things at the highest level. Once you achieve this the

game is much more appealing, and many people will continue to play it.

Video Game Fact #3: The announcer in Super Smash Bros Brawl was also the announcer

for Bill Nye the Science Guy. His name is Pat Cashman.

World of WarcraftWhy is it so popular?

Out of all of the games on the market, World of Warcraft is the highest grossing game of all time. This leads us to many questions such as: Why is it so popular? What demographics play it? Why do people spend so much money on it?

Popularity of World of WarcraftSince World of Warcraft was released in 2004, players have completed billions of quests, created millions of characters, and spent an uncountable number of hours playing.There are countless things to do in this game such as questing, leveling up, completing dungeons and raids, making new friends, and engaging in player vs player battle.

As you continue to quest in World of Warcraft, the storylines become more in-depth, and once you complete all of the

Another reason that people play World of Warcraft isBecause of the many different expansions that the game has to offer. Each expansion allows you to level up more, experience more quests, and unlock new dungeons and raids. As you get farther into the game and reach the most recent expansions you will be able to play the hardest game material. This material usually takes a while to clear through and most of it requires a team to work with.

This means that you will need to cooperate with other people in order to clear the end game content, which brings us to the next topic, who plays World of Warcraft?

popular that it caused a temporary shortage of the 100-yen coin, the coin most commonly

used for arcade machines.

Reflection

Since I have played video games my entire life, not many things about them surprise

me. The only thing I was surprised about when I was working on the project was some of

the facts that I found about video games. Also, I had not seen some of the genres that we

could choose from before, so I had to do some research on them. The hardest part about

writing the paper was deciding which genres to choose for which facts. There are so many

different genres to choose from and deciding which one is best for each fact was difficult. I

enjoyed learning some new things about video games that not many people know, and I

also enjoyed learning about the different types of genres. In order to make my work more

efficient I should have done my entire project in one word document so that I don’t have to

waste time putting all of them together, but since I was using Google docs I made a

separate document for each part of the project. My advice to future students is to pick a

topic that you enjoy learning about, and make sure to do the entire project in one document

so that all of the formatting is correct and you don’t have to spend time putting it together.
