which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

outline

CERTAINLY, it is God Who designed the home, but every member of that institution should

decide to contribute in its strengthening. When everybody agrees to apply God’s Word in the home, then a victorious family will surely be evident. Satan is active in destroying the Christian homes, and we must be aware of that. I exhort you to be responsible enough to do your part in strengthening your home, whether you are the father, mother or children. I pray that you bene-

fited as we conclude our Sunday School theme this month about family.

As we get near the summer months, many will be busy concerning the end of the school year with graduation celebrations, vacation plans and summer getaways. I encourage you to still be faith-ful in God’s service. Put God on the top of your priority list. I repeat what you always hear me say, “There is no summer vacation in Christian life.”

We must also realize that what is happening around the world like the disaster in Japan, the missiles in Libya, the instability in the Middle East, and the recent earthquake in Myanmar, must wake us up to do more for God. He is just showing signs that His coming is very near, and we must not worry but work harder to see more souls saved. As your pastor, I do not want God to return and see our church satisfied with what we have. Let us continually work together for His glory!

I. It is a choice that must be proclaimed. A. The father’s proclamation to serve the Lord as the servant leader will make a godly impact upon the choices of the family as a whole. B. The mother’s pronouncement to serve the Lord as a submissive lifetime-partner will make a great influence upon the certitude (firmness) of children in the family. C. The children’s publication to serve the Lord as support laborers will make a good impression upon the confirmation (testimony) of the family as a whole. II. It is a covenant that must be performed. A. A covenant has a command for cleansing. B. A covenant is a commitment of cleaving. C. A covenant is a concord (agreement) to carry on. D. A covenant is a contract that will be compensated.

God’s Plan for the HomeHome is a place

to learn about God.

THIS passage provides the central theme of Deuteronomy.

It sets a pattern that helps us relate the Word of God to our daily lives. We are to love God, think constantly about his commandments, teach his commandments to our children, and live each day by the guidelines in his Word. God emphasized the impor-tance of parents teaching the Bible to their children. The church and Christian schools cannot be used to escape from this responsibility. The Bible provides so many opportuni-ties for object lessons and practical teaching that it would be a shame to study it only one day a week. Eternal truths are most effectively learned in the loving environment of a God-fearing home. BIBLE READING: Deut. 6:1-25KEY BIBLE VERSE: “And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy chil-dren, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when

thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.” Deuteronomy 6:6-7

Serving God does not exempt people

from responsibilities at home.

ELI had spent his entire life in service to God. His responsibi-

lity was to oversee all the worship in Israel. But in pursuing this great mis-sion he neglected the responsibili-ties in his own home. Don’t let your desire to do God’s work cause you to neglect your family. If you do, your mission may degenerate into a quest for personal importance, and your family will suffer the consequences of your neglect. BIBLE READING: 1 Samuel 3:1-4:1KEY BIBLE VERSE: “For I have told him that I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knoweth; because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not. And therefore I have sworn unto the house of Eli, that the iniquity of

Eli’s house shall not be purged with sacrifice nor offering for ever.”1 Samuel 3:13-14

Home is a place of mutual service and respect.

IF our faith in Christ is real, it will usually prove itself at home, in our

relationships with those who know us best. Children and parents have a responsibility to each other. Children should honor their parents even if the parents are demanding and un-fair. Parents should care gently for their children, even if the children are disobedient and unpleasant. Ide-ally, of course, Christian parents and Christian children will relate to each other with thoughtfulness and love. This will happen if both parents and children put the others’ inter-ests above their own—that is, if they submit to one another. BIBLE READING: Ephesians 6:1-4 KEY BIBLE VERSE: “And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the

nurture and admonition of the Lord.” Ephesians 6:4

Home is one place the church can gather together.

HOME Bible studies are not new. As the believers needed to grow

in their new faith, home Bible studies met their needs, as well as serving as a means to introduce new people to the Christian faith. During later times of persecution, meeting in homes became the primary method of pass-ing on Bible knowledge. Christians throughout the world still use this approach when under persecution and as a way to build up believers. Meeting in homes is a good reminder to believers that the church is not a building, but people.BIBLE READING: Acts 5:17-42 KEY BIBLE VERSE: “And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.” Acts 5:42

ACTS 29 | MARCH 27 | PAGE 07

1. It gives time for fellowship. Spending time conversing and building up other Christians is a blessing. "And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more,as ye see the day ap-proaching." Hebrews 10:24-25

2. It gives time to prepare for worship. When we are late, we feel rushed. By getting to worship on time, there is time to relax and focus on studying God"s Word.

3. It is an encouragement to Bible teachers. They have spent a great deal of time preparation. When a child comes in late, teachers often restart the lesson. Precious time is lost. It is an interruption and distraction to the adult class, too.

4. It sets a good example. We are on time for things that are important to us. Let us show our children and our church family that worship services are important.

Blessings of Being On Time for Worship Sevices

ANNOUNCEMENT Starting next week, all 1st service members who

will arrive after the first congrega-tional singing will have to wait outside

until the 1st worship service ends. They should attend the succeeding divided Sunday School classes

and still have to stay for the 2nd worship service.

It is such a great blessing to be a part of a church that is training its members to be good stewards of the time that God has entrusted.

Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Ephesians 5:16Let all things be done decently and in order. 1 Corinthians 14:40Whoso keepeth the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man's heart discerneth both time and judgment. Ecclesiastes 8:5

parentalA man going from his house to the stable one snowy morning, heard a voice behind him, “I’m coming along, too, Papa,” and, looking behind, saw his little son lifting his little feet and planting them carefully in his father’s footsteps. So do the children imitate their parents. “No man liveth unto himself.” Our children walk in our footsteps; so let us take heed how we walk.
