Fancy seeing a good old classic movie? Well ‘The Forum’ in Barrow is just the place. It is hosting the film ‘The Holiday’ starring the award winning Cameron Daiz, Kate Winslet and Jude Law. Anyone who is interested can come along as it would be a fun and interesting day ‘in’ at the movies. This fantastic Rom-Com movie is rated a 12 so pretty much anyone can come! ‘The Holiday’ is being screened in Barrow on the 6th of May at 1pm. Cumbria Remixed is a Laternhouse project run by the amaz-ing artist Shaun Blezerd who uses digital technologies to give a ‘soundscape’ by remixing and moulding together sounds created by people of Cumbria to make songs all about Cumbria. This is really fun and interesting because it gets everyone in Cumbria involved and its some-thing different and unique to anything anyone’s done before and the good thing is, is that any-one of any age can get involved!. What you need to do is send in a song, a recording or a story of the surrounding environment which then Shaun uses to make one or a couple of songs with. ‘Now Voyager’ (1942) PG film. This 1942 film is now reshooting at the forum in barrow in Furness. It’s a great moving and

amazing film that will make you attached to it and love it so much! Don’t miss your opportu-

nity. It is an old film which will bring back memories to lots of people and it’s a chance for local people to see the films they love and won’t have to go far. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone This harry potter is the first and by far the best! Don’t miss your chance to see this exciting film. You will just love every minute of it. The forum loves to put on some amazing old films and now’s your chance to see the one you absolutely loved! It’s for all you harry potter lov-ers who just can’t get enough of him. Do you have a story you want to share? Come to the office on 20th April to get a chance to be featured on the radio station!! Local communities can get involved in this smash-ing event, as every week nearly 100 stories have the opportunity to have a chance of making it onto the radio. So all you need to do is come down, share your story, and lis-ten out for your story to see if it had made it onto the radio. Digital soup kitchen is an annual event Held at The Lantern house Ulverston, it is a event aimed at anyone from the age 12 to 20 years. So invite your friends along, and get creative and learn how to use brand new technology. Adam Clarke is a film-maker and digital artist will be there to help you set up something creative, and fun. PPPPerforming AAAArts Over a 100 years the carnival has been around to raise money for local hospitals and. The starting place is Duke Street then it will finish at barrow town hall. Barrow borough council sponsors the carnival. They are following the success of lakes alive; they’ve got the Zircus plus a team to promote the circus. It’s full of colours and life. Zircus are very popular over the nation. There are many tricks using acrobatic skills. It’s an amazing atmosphere for friends, families and couples. A unique experience for barrow because it’s a chance for barrow to show a little bit of what they can do! Its an amazing day out and a chance for kids to join in and get involved. Come to this fun and exciting opera at ’The Forum’ held by the talented Barrow Operatic and Dramatic Society. The Wizard of Oz is a classic tale of a young girl stuck in a dream land desperate to find her way home and you will be following her journey throughout this interesting play. It takes place on the 17th of May 2011 and it carries on throughout the week till the final performance on the 21st. The opera starts every night from 7:30 and the Saturday matinee starts at 2:00. The tick-ets are £9.30 for adults and £8.00 for children. To buy the tickets either contact the forum box office or buy at the door on the night. The family tickets are available at £30. Come and bring all your family and friends you won’t regret it!

The Ulverston international music festival offers a wide verity of music, but generally looks at the classical and jazz side of things. Just listening to some of the music played at this festival will make you shiver. The whole concert starts on Friday the 3rd of June and follows right through the week to the 11th hosting different themed music and relaxing moment’s whilst eating lunch. The jazz night in particular starts on Friday the 10th at 7:30 at the Coronation Hall and it throws in a mixture of swing, boogie-woogie, jive, gospel and the blues. Tickets are available on the 18th of March from the box office and you can get them by contacting 01229 587140 (open form mon-sat 10am-pm).

Taking place on the 8th-10th July, this is a local festival containing superb music acts, workshops for you to join in, dance acts, and storytelling. Suit-able for any age, this is ideal for the perfect family day out. The group who organised this fabulous event was created to encourage, and make familiar the inheritance of music in the South of the Lake district and Cumbrian area. It is based in Ulverston’s market town. This is an ideal day out for any locals, or even for those travelling the bit of extra dis-tance. Remember to come from the 8th- 10th July! The dock museum is an extremely interesting museum in Barrow and it covers lots of things, like a small part of the museum are about WW2 and another part shows boats it even has a themed adventure playground! So pretty much anyone of any age can come and visit this museum. In the summer season it is open from April to October and from Tuesday to Friday it opens at 10:30am and closes at 5pm and on Saturday-Sunday it opens from 11:00Am and closes at 5pm. From the 10th May to the 12th of June 2011 there is a Barrow society of Artists being held and the museum will show over 20 artists stunning and wonderful artwork and some of the artists includes established names such as Tom Murphy and Graham Tywford. The dock museum has a brand new exhibition! England at leisure is a great chance to get away with your families, friends or even couples. It’s all old photos that explore the English leisure from the time of the 1860s up to the mid 20th century. This looks into Victorian ladies on bikes to holidaying at an English resort by the seaside in the 1950s. The exhibition is happening on the 14th June - 4th September 2011. The entry is free and is Open all day. Come in and have a look at what they can provide for you!

The Laurel and Hardy museum in Ulverston is a great learning yet fun experience and anyone can come! The Laurel and Hardy museum is extremely interesting as it uses an array of visual and media and it’s just a fun day out to learn something that you didn’t know about previously. It really explores in depth the lives of Laurel and Hardy and if you’re interested in this kind of thing you would have an even greater day. Its open pretty much all year round (Feb-Dec) 7 days a week, tickets for adults are only £4.00, O.A.P is £3.00 and children’s are £2.00! Steadart is an amazing, weird and wonderful exhibition using pencil work. This memorable exhibition is inspired by Dali, Escher and Gieger. This fascinating art is a mixture of lines, curves and just general surreal art. Its not all colourful art its unusually grey but its very effective and it’s a must see art! It’s a great day out with your family, friends or even your partner. Are you always having to travel long distances? Well now there’s no need to worry this exhibition is near you and its free so no need to worry if your broke. MAY and JUNE is when this magical art happens. Like we said no need to travel to Liverpool as now it’s near you at ‘The Forum’ Barrow. Come and join the experience in May and June.

Printfest is an Exhibition held annually in Ulverston’s Coronation hall. The Coronation Hall has the largest capacity of any hall in the whole of the south lakes. ‘From plays and musicals to meetings and coffee mornings- there’s no place quite like the Coro! Superb contemporary prints will be on sale, and Work from more than 40 na-tional and international artists will be exhibited. Workshops and demonstrations from exhibiting artists will take place for you to come and see. A superb event for anyone in-terested in artwork or exhibitions.
