Welcome to Solaris Air! We are delighted you have choosen us for your Virtual Airline.Whether you are new to simming or have been doing flight simulation for decades we welcomepilots of all skill levels. We have a little bit of something for everyone here. Our airline is splitinto multiple divisions that cater to different aircraft and flying needs. We'll explain more aboutthe divisions later on in this docement. For now we just want to let you know what we are allabout; FUN & FLYING!

That being said we do have some rules and pilot expectations we need to get out of the waybefore we move on. While we believe we aren't overly strict we do have some quality ofstandards we want to maintain. Additional requirements for being hired for the VA are listedlater in this document.

1) FLIGHT EXPECTATIONS: All new pilots MUST fly their first flight within fourteen (14)days of being hired. After that we expect at least one flight out of you every thirty (30) days. Ifyou cannot commit to this activity level this is probably not the VA for you. If you will beunable to commit to this because you have to take a leave of absence (LOA) then that is anothermatter. Pilot's who file a leave of absence request will be protected from removal from the VA.Any pilot fired from the VA for inactivity can rejoin when they can make the time commitment, provided your status is in good standing with the VA.

2) AIRFRAME KNOWLEDGE: You are expected to know how to fly the aircraft you arewanting to book a flight for. This is not the place to practice your skills. The software that weuse (FSAirlines) for our VA is a full featured financial simulation of running an airline. Mistakescost money. A lot of money! Destroyed aircraft are millions of dollars. Aircraft slammedroughly into the ground can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to fix and knock planes offthe duty roster for days. Please know how to fly the plane you are taking up. Practice offlineuntil you understand how to operate the aircraft efficently and safely.

3) RESPECT YOUR FELLOW PILOTS: Our pilots interact on Discord a lot. We do like to ribeach other when we mess up on a landing but don't let it get out of hand. We are all here tohave fun. Constantly hammering on a pilot who isn't the best won't do anything but make themwant to back out of the VA. We can always teach them to be better. It is no one's job to berate apoorly peforming pilot. The officers will handle such problems when they arise.

4) BOOK IT, FLY IT: When you book a flight the system will keep it booked for up to 72 hours. However we've already had an issue with people locking planes down and not flying them. The72 hour limit is there for those suffering from technical issues. It is not there for you to lock aflight down because you want to fly it in a couple days instead of right now. We therefore havea Book It/Fly it policy in place. Once you book a flight please fly it within six (6) hours.

While we don't have a real way to stop you from booking flights and leaving them booked forhours on end (yet), if other pilots complain about you locking up planes for hours on endconsistently we will investigate and if need be yank you out of the booked slot forcefully.Repeated violations will get you fired from the VA. Sharing is caring folks!

Our Virtual Airline operates on the FSAirlines network. FSAirlines is a fullservice VA Management website and client software package that allows us tooperate our VA like a real airline; buying planes, leasing them, maintaining theirintegrity, keeping them filled up with fuel and moving passengers and cargo! This is a requirement to join our VA. You need to create an account onFSAIRLINES.NET. Please use your real name if possible (per FSAIRLINES.NETprivacy policy) but if you absolutely refuse to do so please use a realisitic name atleast. No names of famous people should be used. Make sure you properlycapitalize the name. Failure to follow this naming scheme will get yourapplication to be a pilot rejected!

XPUIPC/FSUIPCIn order for FSAirlines to track your aircraft's position and fuel burn you must beusing the XPUIPC (if on XPlane) or FSUIPC (if on FSX/P3D) plugins. Theseplugins link the simualtor to FSAirlines so it can read your aircraft's data in realtime and give you credit for the flight. Below are the links to the software. Besure you get the correct version for your simulator.

XPUIPC vers 2.0.4.8 http://fsacars.com/downloads/xpuipc/XPUIPC_2.0.4.8.zip(Note: The newest version of XPUIPC is 2.0.5.9 but it has been known to causeproblems with other plugins and aircraft so we recommend 2.0.4.8 instead.)

A tutorial on how to operate FSAirlines and the ACARS client for a full flight canbe located at the back of this handbook starting on page 9. There is also trainingvideos on the company website. Follow the tutorials for problem free (mostly)flying with the VA!

Brian Navy Chief Executive OWill Dolezal Chief Operations OClifford DeVaul Acting Chief Operations OJustin Jmando Fleet Operations ManagerRandy Nielson CorpJet Dispatch Manager

As we grow officer positions may open up. If we think you can handle it and you show interest we will talk it overthen. Please do not hound us on becoming an officer. We know you want to help but too many roosters in the henhouse creates problems.

Below is our pilot rank structure, hours required to achieve the rank and salary levels for each one. All pilotrecords are reviewed every Sunday to see if promotions are in order. The process is not automated but we like itthis way because it means we can base your promotion on more than just flight hours. We can take yourperformance record into account now when deciding if a promotion is in order. Incentive to become a better pilot?Hopefully!

So you have signed up, been approved and had your Type Ratings set. You cannow fly your first flight but where to begin? This section will take you throughthe basics of getting a flight prepared, started and finished for Solaris Air.

BBOOOOKKIINNGG AA FFLLIIGGHHTTYour first step is to find a flight from thethousands that are available. Keep in mind thatFSAirlines is a persistent world simulation. This means that the planes we own are wherethey are and you cannot simply take that 747from KMIA to fly a route that starts at KBWI!Every plane you fly stays where you land it untilsomeone else takes it for the next flight or youbook it again for a second leg. FSAirlines takesit a step further and simulates where YOU are inthe world. Your Pilot Persona must be at anairport that has company planes available. Ifyou need to move from one airport to anotheryou simply need to buy a plane ticket and move your Pilot Persona there. This

will take money out of your personal account. Thisfee is returned to you if you are paying subscriber toFSAirlines (aka Part of the Pilots Union).

Once you are at the airport with the planes you cannow click on the Book Flight option and select theairport you wish to go to. After you pick the route alist of planes available at the airport will appear.Select one and you are ready. The booked flight pagewill turn into a flight briefing page showing you howmuch cargo and passengers your flight is going to

have. Suggested fuel is listed also but this is not necessarily the fuel load youwant. More about proper refueling is talked about below.

Be aware that once you book aflight if you have to cancel it youwill be charged a penalty. DONOT cancel a flight unless youhave no other choice. If youexperience technical problemswith your simulator such as acrash you do have up to 72hours to complete the flightbefore it will autocancel. Weencourage you to start the flightagain and finish it rather than

Page 10: VEVRESRIOSINON1.51.0OcJtuolbye2r05tthh22001199FSAIRLINES.NET. Please use your real name if possible (per FSAIRLINES.NET privacy policy) but if you absolutely refuse to do so please

cancelling. If you cancel flights a lot you will find your bank account in thenegatives real quick. If you cannot finish a flight that crashed out on you and youneed to cancel, request a flight cancellation from an officer on Discord or via amessage via the FSAirlines messaging system. We can cancel your flight without ahit to your personal bank account

PPAACCKKAAGGEESSThe latest version of FSAirlines has implemented the package system for cargo.Prior to departure you should check the cargo package area for any high prioritypackages that can be loaded on the flight you are about to make. They are worth alot of money and replace your standard cargo in the cargo bay of your aircraft. Here's how it works.

Book your flight. Once you are ready to beginthe flight go to the booking page and click onthe Select Packages button. If there arepackages that need to go to your destinationairport they should be at the top of the list. You can also load cargo for other airports thatare within 100nm of your destination airport.Note your aircraft's max cargo space (1). Asyou add packages by clicking the selectbuttons next to them (3) you will see the totalweight of the packages you have selected (2) start to add up. Make sure this doesnot exceed your aircraft's cargo capacity or you will not be able to click the LoadSelected button (4). If your weights are good the button will turn blue and you canclick it to load the packages cargo. Once that is done the cargo will be transferredto your plane's cargo bay. Any left over space will be filled with standard cargowhich the value is given by how many miles it is flown. This new system makescargo packages overall much more desireable than standard cargo as it is morevaluable overall, especially cargo that has been marked as High Priority. Try toget those loaded in your plane first if there any available. Once you have done all

Page 11: VEVRESRIOSINON1.51.0OcJtuolbye2r05tthh22001199FSAIRLINES.NET. Please use your real name if possible (per FSAIRLINES.NET privacy policy) but if you absolutely refuse to do so please

this you can return to your BriefingDocument page and go fly the flight.

PPRREEPPAARRIINNGG TTHHEE FFLLIIGGHHTTOnce you have your flight booked and youhave loaded your packages you can start thesimulator and the FSAirlines Client. It doesnot matter which order you start them in.All that matters is that you are spawned in atthe gate and ready to begin in the simulator.Once your plane is loaded in you can log into

your flight in the FSAirlines client. Log in if you are not already logged in on theclient then click the Flight Information button. Verify that the flight you see is theflight you booked for. If it is you are cleared to proceed to refueling the aircraft.

RREEFFUUEELLIINNGG YYOOUURR AAIIRRCCRRAAFFTTWe have discovered the best way to dofueling is to set your fuel based on yourpaperwork via the airplane's refuelinginterface. Once you have set the fuelproperly in the plane click the Fly! button inthe FSAirlines client and you will bepresented with the Refueling panel. Itshould show you the total fuel to be loadedin the plane. You will see the fuel that wasalready in the plane and the proposed fuel needed to reach the total you loadedvia the airplane's insim fueling panel. If your Loaded fuel matches yourairplane's fuel load you are golden. Just click the Fuel Up! button and FSAirlineswill now have the correct fuel load to calculate expenses at the end of the flight. Now all you have to do is click the Fly! button and you should be good to go!

FFLLYY!!When you click on the Fly! button if all hasgone well you will be told you can start theflight now. That is all you need to do for now.Just finish programming your aircraft, pushback, taxi and go! You should nowappear on the flight tracker map which youcan access via the FSAirlines website on theright side menu bar. As soon as your wheelstouch down at the arrival airport the client willlog the flight and await for you to type in any

comments you want to about the flight. Write anything significant that happenedduring the flight you want to remember then click the Next button to see theresults of your flight. When the flight is completly done you will be sitting backon the main menu in the FSAirlines client. Don't forget to offload your cargo onceyou have quit the FSAirlines client. You do that at the FSAirlines website.

Page 12: VEVRESRIOSINON1.51.0OcJtuolbye2r05tthh22001199FSAIRLINES.NET. Please use your real name if possible (per FSAIRLINES.NET privacy policy) but if you absolutely refuse to do so please

OOFFFFLLOOAADD CCAARRGGOO!!Once you have completed your flight you need to offload thecargo. This is done from the FSAirlines website in thePackages management menu. Keep in mind that any cargoyou loaded for your arrival airport will automatically offloadfrom your aircraft when you arrive and file your flighit planclosed in the client but any packages you loaded forsurrounding airports have to be offloaded manually.

There are two ways to do this; the Package ManagmenetScreen or the VA Packages screen. The easiest way to do anunload is via the Package Management Screen which islocated on the left sidebar menu at the bottom of the VirtualAirline menu (See figure to the right). Once you are in thePackage Management screen you will automatically beshown your airplane you just flew as this screen defaults tothe airport your Pilot Persona is located at which shouldnaturally be the airport you just arrived at.

All you have to do now is go to the bottom of thecargo manifest and push the Select button. Thiswill put a check next to all the cargo in yourcargo hold. Scroll back up to the top and makesure your Action is set to 'Delivery Packages' (1)in the action menu. Make sure everything isselected that needs to be delivered via truck tonearby airports (2) and then click the DeliverSelected Packages button (3). After a fewseconds the screen will update and your planeand cargo should vanish from the menu. Gocheck your pilot log now and you will see that

your total revenue has increased a lot by having the rest of your cargo delivered and figuredinto the total cargo revenue of the flight.

The second way to offload cargo on your plane is the VA Packages screen which you can get toby going to the VA Packages option on the right sidebar. You have to hunt for your plane inthe list of planes but once you find yours you can click the Select Deliver button (1) which willput a check next to all your cargo and click the Submit (2) button. After a few seconds thescreen will update and at the very top of the screen it will tell you how many packages you justdelivered via truck.

AAIIRRCCRRAAFFTT WWAALLKK AARROOUUNNDD Keeping airplanes in good order both in maintenance and incargo cleanliness is every pilots responsbility. Always check your aircraft's maintenance status. If its about to drop below 95% consider taking it on a Maintenance Flight to one of our StarMaintenance centers. Check the cargo bay. Does it still have cargo in it from a previous flightanother pilot did? Deliver the packages for them if you still can using the PackagesManagement menu. If not offload the cargo into a warehouse if you can to keep the cargo bayclean for the next pilot who takes the airframe. Report all dirty cargo bays to the Cargo channelon Discord.

MMAAIINNTTEENNAANNCCEE FFLLIIGGHHTTSS As planes start to near the 95% health rating we like to take themoffline to do what is called an ACheck Maintenance inspection. These take 24 hours to completeand can be expensive. Planes that require even more service than that get put into BChecks orworse. The more damage that needs fixing the more money it is and it can get expensive! Tobattle the cost of maintenance the airline has a maintenance company called Solaris StarMaintenance. Check the HUB map on the company website for locations of all the centers. When we repair a plane at one of these centers we only pay 25% of the normal cost so we'd likepilots who see planes that are looking a little worn out to fly them to one of these airports so wecan save a lot of money and of course we make money off the flight itself. Thanks for your helpin keep our fleet healthy and clean!

SSOOFFTT LLAANNDDIINNGGSS This should go without saying. When you land good you save the airlinemoney on maintenance costs to replace worn parts. You also make the PAX happy and thatincreases the reputation of the VA in general which means we can charge more for our ticketprices without losing customers. Try for 250/FPM. We can tolerate up to 800/FPM butanything beyond that is a considered a crash which costs a ton of money and knocks planes outof service.

TTOO CCRRAASSHH OORR NNOOTT TTOO CCRRAASSHH Crashing a plane is a bad thing. A very bad thing if you do itconsistently. Consider pausing the sim before you hit the ground and cancelling the FSA clientto save the plane. It means you will have to fly the flight over again or cancel it if you can try itagain but that is better than having a crash on your permanent record. Pilots who crash or landhard consistently will have a harder time getting promoted. Keep smashing planes into theground and you'll find a pink slip in your locker. When in doubt, pause the sim, cancel theflight. If you are crashing because of poor piloting skills consider asking someone for help inteaching you how to operate the airframe you are trying to fly.

LLOOAADD CCAARRGGOO JJUUSSTT BBEEFFOORREE YYOOUU FFLLYY Get in the practice of loading cargo into your planejust before you start the sim and do the flight. The second you load the cargo the clock startsticking and our airline takes responsiblity for its safe delivery to the required airport.

SSTTAANNDDAARRDD CCAARRGGOO MMIILLEESS Standard Cargo (no package) is paid by the mile, unlike PAXwho pay for the cost upfront. The longer the cargo flight, the more money is made. Don't takethe 767300F on a 150 mile cargo journey! It should be doing 1000+ miles!

Page 14: VEVRESRIOSINON1.51.0OcJtuolbye2r05tthh22001199FSAIRLINES.NET. Please use your real name if possible (per FSAIRLINES.NET privacy policy) but if you absolutely refuse to do so please

CAN I PAUSE THE SIMULATOR?

Yes. If you have to step away from the PC you can pause and resume the flight later. Your flight stays active for 72 hours or

until completion. You cannot refuel or slew the aircraft around once a flight has begun. The flight will be rejected.

CAN I USE TIME ACCELERATION?

No. We turned off time acceleration as it can be used as an exploit to gain pilot hours for ranking up. This forces all pilots, long

haul or short haulsers on to the same playing field.

I CRASHED A PLANE... WHAT DO I DO NOW?

File an NTSB report from the company website. You can find the report under the Human Resources menu. We need to know

what happened. Was it a glitch? Did a certain plane screw up? Do you need more practice? These reports help us send out

NOTAMS about the performance of certain aircraft and other software in the simulation enviroment. Until we receive an NTSB

report from you your flight status will be marked as Grounded which means you can't fly another plane. Repeated crashes of

aircraft will get you terminated from service with the airline.

I WON'T BE ABLE TO FLY FOR A WHILE. WHAT DO I DO?

File a Leave of Absence request by sending a direct message using FSAirlines messaging service to the CEO and COO so we can

put you in grounded status. Pilots who show no activity but are flagged as grounded are safe from being purged from our

THE PLANE I FLY DOESN'T HAVE A SOLARIS LIVERY. CAN WE HAVE ONE?

Yes provided a livery painter is available. We have many different aircraft in our fleet and it is our intention to have a Solaris

livery for each and everyone on both XPlane and P3D/FSX. Just let us know in the Requests channel on Discord what you are

looking for and we'll put it on the TODO list.

WE NEED xxx AIRCRAFT IN OUR FLEET! CAN WE HAVE ONE?

All request for an airframe addition should be made in the Requests channel on Discord. If there is a good simulation of it

available on Xplane or P3D/FDX and we can afford it we will most likely grant it. Please note that wanting ancient planes from

a bygone area require special orders which take real time to complete. We expect them to be flown regularly by the requesting

party. We're not in the habit of buying multi million dollar old planes so they can collect dust.

CAN I SUBSTITUE THIS AIRFRAME FOR THAT AIRFRAME?

We would prefer you didn't. We can't stop you from doing it but the FSAIRLINES Client will stop you if your plane is outside

the airframe family. You can't use an Embraer E175 to fly a CRJ700 flight for example but you can use a CRJ200 for a CRJ700

flight, so on and so forth. So the official answer is fly the airframe that is meant for the flight but if you must fly another plane

type then make sure its in the same family of aircraft; An A319 for an A320, 737700 for a 737800 flight, so on and so forth.

There is a very good reason why you need to fly the correct airframe; Weights and Balance. Your paperwork from FSAirlines

won't match anything you do in Simbrief if you don't use the same airframe. Its already hard to get it to line up with different

seat configurations but now you will really be off on the numbers. This affects fuel burn which costs money.

These are our current Cost Indexes that are based loosely on real world airlines and/orrecommended CI from the aircraft manufacturer. This is your typical CI and can be adjustedby the pilot as needed for wind conditions and for making up lost time if behind schedule.Typically if you are behind schedule or are fighting head winds for a large portion of the flightyou will want to raise your CI 3050 extra points above the standard. Likewise, if you are wayahead of schedule or experiencing significant tailwinds you can lower the CI rating by 515points on average to squeeze out some minor fuel savings. Remember, the higher the CI themore fuel the plane will use to achieve higher values in the FMC. Lower numbers conservesfuel.
